  1. Can I just go with cautiously optimistic?
  2. Good catch, edited original post. Losing to Akron is much less impressive than losing to Arkansas...like I said "No insight" ;)
  3. No insight, but their three losses are against AKRON, Louisville and Pittsburgh. In those three losses, they scored an average of 31 points. Add in their week 1 win over Morgan State, and they average 39 points per game. I expected a better chance to beat Marshall than MTSU, but I'm not as convinced now.
  4. You forgot the free tacos, or has that already stopped?
  5. Looks like the Bottom 10 writer loves hate mail - seems to have got UMass out of the Bottom 10.
  6. 3 wins, 4 wins, a bowl game, who will replace Littrell when he leaves? What are you guys smoking? We don't need to tap the brakes, we need to slam on them as hard as we can!! Let's take it one game at a time and not speculate about about a head coach with a career 2-2 record leaving us for greener pastures after only one season. That sort of talk, on a public forum anyone can read, can't be good for recruiting.
  7. Don't know how many of you stayed up to watch the KXAS news last night, but they had a very inspiring story on Sam Harrell's battle against MS. North Texan Returns to Coaching After Battling Multiple Sclerosis
  8. Sorry to revive this thread, but I was looking at Rice's 2016 schedule on fbsschedules.com and came across this story about their 3-game series with Texas: Texas and Rice Schedule Three-Game Football Series I found the above most interesting. For those that want home games only at Apogee, would you reconsider playing a "home" game at AT&T stadium or the Cotton Bowl if a team was willing to pay us $1 million+? Rice also scheduled LSU to play at NRG Stadium, but there's no mention of a payout to do so.
  9. Can anyone confirm if this is true? Post game team reaction
  10. Honest question, because I can argue both sides of this. If Ohio State agreed to play at Apogee, but 25,000 fans show up supporting the Buckeyes, is that better than playing them at Jerry World and drawing 50K?
  11. According to Google Maps, Cal is 1,728 miles from Skyline High School, while Kansas State is 501 miles away. So, yeah, it's closer but certainly not what I expected from someone who wanted to be closer to his ailing grandfather living in the Dallas area. Maybe he'll take I-35 on his way home from K-State, see a "You could be home now," sign in Denton and reconsider?
  12. An Alabama forum picked up the same story and all the posters have nothing but good things to say about Alec Morris (even if they don't know who UNT is). Tidefans.com - From Alabama's Bench
  13. From Alabama's bench to UNT's focal point: Coaches believe Alec Morris' talent can help resurrect Mean Green football A good article in the DMN from Rick Gosselin.
  14. Big XII corporate offices are in Irving. We should just go kidnap Bob Bowlsby and hold him for ransom until he lets UNT in the conference. (Disclaimer: this is meant in jest). In all seriousness, the fact that the Big XII offices are right in our back yard should be even more reason to ensure they know all about UNT.
  15. 2016 opponent - Strong doesn't want McNeal giving away the playbook.
  16. Who said he wanted to play close to Mesquite? (Hint: he didn't.) Did you even read the article?
  17. Suspended indefinitely for violating team rules, then asked for his release...sounds like he's favoring A & M or UCLA.
  18. Just read this story on dallasnews.com. Of the 17 mentioned, 15 are listed by name. Among them, SMU, New Mexico, Tulane and Northern Illinois. North Texas sure as hell better be one of the two not specifically listed. Not that we have a solid chance for consideration, but we should at least take advantage of the (seemingly) "open-door" opportunity to tell our story and initiate conversation for the future.
  19. Final verdict is he won't be allowed to play this season. Not fact, just my opinion, but you can take it to the bank.
  20. Former Skyline star receiver Carlos Strickland announces he is leaving Cal and will transfer to a school closer to home Hopefully, we're on the consideration list as we offered him out of high school: http://www.espn.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/169993/carlos-strickland
  21. From what I understand, the NCAA has eliminated the hardship waiver that allowed players to immediately play at the new school. Instead, players must sit out a year, but may be granted an additional year of eligibility. Based on the above, there is absolutely zero chance Bryce English sees the field in 2016. I just wanted to post this because there seems to be some confusion still about his 2016 status, as evidenced in the article recently published on TexasFootball.com. And, again, in this initial story on the MGB: Football: UNT transfer follows father’s footsteps The above quotes are inaccurate, per the following: NCAA.org - Council recommends transfer policy change Sporting News - NCAA eliminates hardship waivers for transfers Tulsa had to deal with this last year: NCAA's elimination of hardship waivers devastating news for Khari Harding's family So, if anyone was hoping to have Bryce English this fall (I was), you can forget about it. I hope Bryce's father doing well in his battle against cancer.
  22. Was it really a "game" now? Or was it just another spring practice that was open to the public?
