McCarney took Dodge’s recruits and turned that team into a hard nosed, Dallas Bowl winning program. Unfortunately, he couldn’t recruit a hobo to a ham sandwich and his program suffered at the end of his run. I still say North Texas sticks with the young P5 offensive minded coordinator.

Because it’s necessary when your program looks like, as you say, doo doo. Look what USC just did, you think that sent a message to their fan base & boosters??? Hell yeah it did. RV did it, so why is Wren incapable?

Need to restart the cycle: Hire a new up and coming offensive minded coach who rides the high of starting a new program into a great QB recruit comit. Seth did it with Mason and it worked. He just never recruited a worthy successor.

NT lacks talent, size, & speed. Same things we were saying at the end of the McCarthey era. Seth was a good roll of the dice, unfortunately the Kstate debacle took something from him that just never came back. NT needs to continue to take shots at the young up and comers like Seth and hope one of them can actually get over the hump.

Like I said in another post, the football gods hate North Texas. All this conference realignment mess going on with teams jockeying for position and what’s happening with lil’ ol’ North Texas? A losing season of epic proportions in the works.

We don’t have a sports brand. Short lived run during the Buick’s tenure gave us some local recognition. Right now Jorge Dunham’s force feeding of NT at the ticket is about all we have. A good football program in Texas would send this University into the stratosphere. Look what happened to TCU. SMU has tried every trick in the book to get there but have failed, NT being a public university can. How many times have we heard/read/said this: NT is a Sleeping Giant? We’re a drunk, fat, lazy, sleeping giant at the moment I guess….

Mark my words, just because it’s ol’ North Texas, no matter what conference NT moves to, it will somehow end up worse than CUSA. That’s just how the football gods treat us…. The MWC needs a presence in Texas. Take NT, UTEP, and LaTech.

I think a very small delusional group (5 people) want Aune to start. He’s been a career backup under SL for a reason. As a side note, I think the extension talk is ridiculous. Seth needs to win CUSA and his bowl game to get an extension. Anything less and he should be allowed to walk.

Lotsa truth to that, imo. The program fell flat after that and never truly recovered.

Glad my daughter had a softball tournament this weekend. So I completely missed the annual kick to the nuts. Is this Spanky’s final year at HC? How do you NOT have a QB ready to step in after Fine graduated? I mean, you had 4 years.

Big12 needs to court a school from the P5 and give them a deal similar to what UT had. Someone like Nebraska who has done absolutely nothing since leaving should be their target. That’s the only way this conference still maintains a lifeline to the new P5 breakaway. Otherwise they’ll be nothing but another G5 conference. If I were Kansas I’d do absolutely everything to leave the B12. The B12 is going to die a slow death, no way they make it out of this shuffle this time.

Seth will coach out his contract. Lil’ ol’ UNT can’t afford a $3million dollar buyout. He’ll finish his career around .500 with 3 straight Bowl losses .

They’re paying players already. So what else is new? Players are going to get a bigger piece of the pie. Instead of paying coaches $5million a year, and ADs $5 million a year, and NCAA board members $5million a year, it goes to the well deserved athlete. Not to mention the football player that earns money for the school to fund every sport, sport related improvement project, and coaches salaries.

Brian Waters is a top 5, no question. Was considered one of the best OL in the NFL for years. Also, gotta flick Booger in there as well.

Ok, then put all Coaches on normal faculty member salaries. Eliminate the NCAA board salaries and make them volunteer only. You want to see people bitch, moan, scrape, scratch, and cry then take millions from these do nothings that ride the backs of all student athletes to their homes in the Hamptons.
