  1. The more and more I read what Vito wrote, the less and less it seams like it actually is what I am pretty sure I think it is ...I wish I could just fast forward to tomorrow...
  2. It is highly unlikely I will get a good nights sleep tonight...

  3. This thread appears to be existing in two different forums at the same time....
  4. Committing to play at one of the service academies is much more than just choosing to play football somewhere. Good luck in Annapolis Jude, and wherever else you may go!
  5. BREEETTTT VITTTTTTOOO!!! If this news is as good as he is making it sound I may be making a sign for him next Thursday.
  6. If this has Vito excited it has to be good. A statement like "tomorrow could be a very good day in UNT land" also leads me to believe this is something long term, and not a single football recruit (unless its like a 5* or something). Please be the MWC...Please be the MWC... EDIT: Also, the "what might go down" wording does not seem like a recruit committment either...can't wait for tomorrow!
  7. There are two reasons why I don't care if Tate Forcier ends up at MTSU: 1. Football is a team sport. 2. Dan Mccarney is coaching UNT now.
  8. It's cool that they put a picture of him up on the site...unfortunately you can't see his face in the picure...it is covered by his jersey.
  9. UTEP was under heavy consideration as well but wanted to stay in CUSA. I do think the MWC will expand soon, and I think it will also involve USU. The last team to be involved is what is in question. The choice could be any one of: UNT, NMSU, SJSU, UTEP (if they change their mind), or even Idaho. Is thinking we will get the invite wishful thinking? Probably. I would not however completely rule it out...
  10. I was in the chat on usufans.com for awhile, and I feel bad for them. They were pretty cool, and I would say more than half of them wanted UNT to be the 12th team. Hopefully this is just a delay for the MWC to reevaluate, and in due time we fine out that Utah State and North Texas are the new members of the MWC. I'm not giving up hope, but not getting my hopes up either after seeing the meltdown over there.
  11. If we are thinking strategically, don't we want to keep TSU and UTSA down. It is the same reasoning behind wanting to kill off the WAC. The less competition the better. 12 FBS schools in Texas may be a bit much. Those two schools are in a tough predicament right now, and they may be forced to go independent. Especially for recruiting, their existence alone is going to be a hindrance, regardless of whether or not we may be the more attractive option. If I had to pick one or the other, I would want Texas State, but I will not be one bit disappointed if the SBC decides not to add any 1-AA teams.
  12. Either all of the media reports about USU had the same source that was wrong, or the MWC did not see SJSU as a good option and could not decide on #12, so they go back to the drawing table. Either way this is good for us!
  13. Mountain West Conference Official Site This is an official statement from the MWC board of directors. It looks as though the MWC is taking a timeout. They are not going to do anything right away. The way it seems to me is that USU will probably be in in the long run, but they cannot decide on the 12th team (which is part wishful thinking). The longer this goes on, the better it is for us.
  14. Why exactly would any of those schools need to be enticed to join the SBC...at this point they should be begging. If Houston bolts, I would bet money we would be in CUSA before UTSA. I could see them shifting to the East as well, and not choosing a Texas school to replace Houston.
  15. I personally would get rid of UTSA, TSU, and GSU, and then add NMSU to the west. So you have: West: North Texas Arkansas State New Mexico State Louisiana Tech Louisiana Lafayette Louisiana Monroe East: Middle Tennessee Western Kentuck Troy South Alabama Florida Atlantic Florida International I think the conference above would be much better off than the current Sun Belt. We would avoid adding any 1-AA members, and add a good basketball school in NMSU. Divisional travel would help lower costs, and 12 is the perfect number. 14 or 16 teams in a conference does appeal to me for some reason.
  16. Just recently in the USU Chat (which once again is not necessarily reliable, but their people have seemed to be at least SOMEWHAT knowledgeable so far) it was said that the votes last night were an affirmative to expand, and the approving of the TV contract. USU was a big part of the TV contract, so they are basically in. The #12 team had little to do with the money involved in the TV contract, and the MWC has yet to decide who that team will be. One of the posters that they all seem to trust believed the 12th team would be decide in this order: UTEP, NMSU, SJSU, UNT, Idaho. He did believe UNT was in the race. ****Once Again, this is just rumor, and may be completely unreliable.**** Meetings resume today at 10am MT.
  17. I know if you think about it logically it does not make sense, but I was talking more about outsiders to Texas. People seem to have a better perception of UTSA than they do North Texas. I'm not in any way saying that the MWC would ever invite UTSA, it just does not sit well with me that somehow UTSA has this awesome image while accomplishing nothing....yet. I know message boards don't mean much, but I have seen the UTSA > UNT sentiment in many places.
  18. This quote from a USU fan almost made me throw up... He was talking about which Texas team he would want to fill the #12 spot in the MWC: "The difference between UTSA and UNT is that UTSA has unrealized potential. UNT is in a saturated market and is what it is." If people really think more highly of UT "we have not even played a freakin down of football yet" SA, then we really need to do better at marketing ourselves. Yes, these people are in Utah, but they sure know plenty about what UTSA is doing...
  19. Orlando Sun-Sentinel It looks as though USU is pretty much a done deal, but this report from not too long ago says that the second team is not decided. The teams they mention are San Jose State, and New Mexico State as possible 12th teams, but I have to believe our athletic department is in the ear of the MWC all the way up until when they vote (which is supposedly later today...yes the vote may not have even happened yet). I read somewhere on the MWC board (not saying it is reliable) that USU was the major component for the TV deal (I have no idea why), and that they are the 11th team. Apparently the #12 team will have little effect on the TV deal, and that decision is up to the discrtion of the MWC. There have been rumors/reports from multiple sources that Comcast was the major drive behind the invitiation of USU... I'm still going to keep hope!
  20. I have been following this with all my might, and at this point it looks very grim for UNT's chances at the MWC. There seems to be much more "confirmation" about USU than SJSU. There is a very small chance that SJSU was not invited and that the MWC will decide on the 12th member in the near future, but that is highly unlikely. We should know for sure tomorrow.
  21. I have no idea if this is true, and I'm not saying I believe it, but for what it is worth, someone posted this on the MWC board: "I am not sure SJSU is coming. Radio station in Lewiston,Idaho (about 30 minutes from Idaho U), is saying that Idaho and SJSU was officially declined tonight."
  22. SJSU has only won 1 game against FBS competition in the last two years...their facilities are terrible, and the MWC commisioner said he would like to maintain a presence in Texas. Yes, I think we had a chance, but I am beginning to lose hope quickly now...
  23. There is a lot going around, but there are a good deal of rumors now that SJSU is not the second team. If it is not them, I believe we still have a chance at an invitation. I have a VERY, VERY hard time believing that we are not trying to get one of those spots.
  24. I think we have a chance to catch them, but at the very least we should be able to gain some ground with the schedule we have left. They do have a very large fan base (judging by past attendance numbers, and the masses of them that travel to Hot Springs) so if they start showing up again, they will probably remain in 1st.
  25. North Texas is now in second place overall! We passed MTSU over the weekend. The three top teams for SBC home attendance are separated by a mere average of 51. ASU leads, followed by ULL, and then UNT. FIU is running away with the SBC away game attendance because people apparently like to yell things at Isaiah Thomas. Go Mean Green! Lets catch up to WKU!
