  1. There were only 8 SBC home games between the last report and this one, but they did manage to change some things. WKU, still in first place, took over the top crowd of the year from North Texas with a crowd of over 7300 for their loss to Louisville. MTSU took over second place for overall average from UNT with a 6800+ crowd for their loss to Vandy, taking their overall average to 4000+. On the disappointing side of things, ULM dropped under 1,000/game in overall attendance. The overall SBC average is 2596. WKU and MTSU, because of those big home games are also in 1st and 2nd for winter break attendance with North Texas sitting in 3rd. Denver may be able to give UNT a run for their money for winter break attendance, and only sit several hundred behind UNT for overall attendance. Over the last week there were no changes in the SBC Conference game averages, but that is about to heat up. The most interesting thing of the week, in my opinion, is Arkansas State having two straight crowds of exactly 2215 . As if that is not odd enough, a couple days later, Denver reported a crowd of 2215 for one of their games.

  3. Wishes he did not have to miss the next two bball games...but would rather miss those games than be single.

Hahaha, She wanted the trip to span over 3 games. I told her unless we got in time for the third game, I wouldn't go. She didn't call my bluff!

BTW, she reads GMG.com, so she is a keeper! I am on the verge of getting her to create an account.

Remember, Matt- There are more than 3 billion women on the earth. But North Texas only plays about 30 games per year.

  4. If we can get a great run going through conference, and pull off a 13 seed in the Tourney, I will be in basketball dream land...a 14 seed will be pretty good as well!
  5. Thank goodness UNT-Dallas doesn't have a bball team yet...Johnny Jones is proving he is a program builder.
  6. Haha, no. I took a couple DSCI classes for my business degree though. I just really like spreadsheets, and data (I'm a sports nerd), so maybe I should have been one.
  7. Wouldn't it be easier if he just did all the game by game matchups and added up the record? I can make him an excel spreadsheet for that if he needs one.
  8. This is my personal favorite from all of the articles I have read. New Orleans Newspaper. The headline: "LSU Basketball Team Crushed by North Texas, 75-55" LSU may not be the greatest team, but to dominate an SEC team on their home court the way we did is an awesome feeling! Go Mean Green!
  9. What would be even worse is if JJ leaves, AND takes Ben Knox with him.
  10. Maybe with Shawn Williams the sorry smu basketball team could have beaten Mcmurry (Division 3, American Southwest Conference) by more than 3 points.....probably not though.
  11. The attendance at LSU tonight was 7017. I don't know how many people were actually in the stands, but who cares. Yes, LSU may not be the strongest SEC team, but their losses before tonight were by an average of 7 points, and a high of 9 points. That included a 9-point loss to #19 Memphis. We went onto their "SEC" home court and spanked the heck out of them worse than anyone else has this year, including a top 20 team. Great job Coach Jones, and great job to the team (especially Josh White for tearin it up in his hometown). This is a big win over a team with name recognition. Way to go Mean Green!
  12. Newy Scruggs on Channel 5 mentioned us. Said at the very end, "Also, North Texas goes to LSU and gets the win. Congratulations to the Men's Basketball team there." I'm glad we got mentioned, wish he would have mentioned we won by 20 though.
  13. Channel 8 ignored us. They showed highlights from texas, uta, and baylor, but no mention of UNT, or smu for that matter.
  14. It was a 2 for 1 with KSU... 2008 - @ KSU 2010 - @ UNT 2012 - @ KSU
  15. I would not be surprised at all if we backed out of either the game @LSU, or @ Kansas St, especially if our home attendance is doing well. The buyout on our side is likely not very high at all, and could probably be offset by getting a good opponent in to Denton, and selling lots of tickets. 4 SBC games, and 1 against an FCS opponent is not a very good home slate.
  16. I will post this weekly. It is fun to watch how the numbers change. I got a little carried away, so I added a couple categories. The first column is overall home attendance, the second is the attendance for schools while the students are off campus, and the final two are for conference home and away games. We are doing pretty good so far. WKU and MTSU both have big home games against Louisville and Vanderbilt coming up in the next couple days, so that should change numbers a little bit. Enjoy! The overall SBC average is 2537. Not sure how this compares to previous years, but seems like a could be better, but could be worse sort of thing.
  17. I asked Mean Green Soccer on Facebook if the games were home or away...we will see if I get a response. Hopefully at least a couple are at home.
  18. This is random, and likely Means little, but Avery Redmod, the walk-on from Plano was shooting lights out during the warm-up. As one of 3 people currently in the student section, analyzing the warm-up in great detail was the best option for entertaining myself. (insert sad emoticon).
  19. Great Hire! I keep getting this feeling that we are hiring the coaching all-stars or something. It may just be the fact that we had almost all high school coaches last time, but this time it seems like some of the guys are actually OVER QUALIFIED for their positions. This is awesome! Plus it is a good feeling to be able to go in and hire people away from other schools.
  20. That completely slipped my mind. Good point, haha.
  21. Attendance was only 317. I would think that Troy would have at least that many season ticket holders, with spill over from their football success. I wonder how many people were actually in the stands.
  22. This proves that as much as SMU would like to think that they are the "Dallas" team, and that the whole city is behind them, they just aren't. They have been successful, exciting coach, nice stadium, etc., and except for a 35,000 against a #4 ranked cross-town rival, they barely averaged more than us. All we need is a little success, and we pass them not just in attendance, but we will start to pull casual Dallas fans up to Denton for games. I truly believe that if we could combine our success from 2001-2004 with the fanbase that we have today, we would have averaged over 25,000 this season. Now with the new stadium, a great new coach, I can't wait to see us average that or more next year.
