You are right...sort of. The problem with losses like these are that when the NCAA selection committee (if we make it) looks at us, they will see TERRIBLE losses to Troy, and ULL. The loss to MTSU is considerably less concerning, as they are at least doing fairly respectable. Can we still make the NCAA Tournamemt? Yes. Can we still win the western division? Yes. Can we still win the regular season championship? Yes, it really is possible if we end conference play like we did last year. Will we be any higher than a 15 seed no matter what we do from here on out? Highly Doubtful. I can only speak for myself here, but the feeling I got from a lot of people was that this year the expectations were a little higher. Maybe something along the lines of a 13 or 14 seed in the tournament and a much better shot at winning a game. I guess on the positive side, if we do still make the NCAA tourney we are going to have a chance to knock off a top 10 team on national TV... Go Mean Green!

If we want the regular season title, we really need to win out. If we do win out, we are guaranteed the West division championship. Then we would need FAU to lose hopefully against WKU, and @ Denver. FAU also has two games against a tough FIU team left. They are in control, but the FAU fans are delusional if they think it is smooth sailing for them. We ended last year on a heck of a streak, so it is not unprecedented. I do not think we will lose at home. So after a hopeful win tomorrow, our remaining away games are at UALR, WKU, and ASU. If we beat Denver tomorrow, and also beat them and FAU at home, we will hold the tie breaker over all the teams we could be tied with at the end of the year. At that point, we just need to root for anyone playing FAU.

If we can get on a run to end the year like we did last year, the regular season title really is not out of question either. The last 8 games for FAU appears more challenging than the first 8. We need a win vs. Denver tomorrow, and a WKU win vs. FAU to get it all rolling.

Western Kentucky vs. Florida Internatinal is on channelsurfing.net. So far that is the only SBC game to show up. The game is also available on real TV on Fox College Sports Pacific. It is channel 283 on Charter...

If MTSU could pull off the win that would be huge.

I sure hope when all is said and done his heart is at North Texas. I know it may seem like a back-up option to him right now, but this group of guys has a chance to accomplish some very special things.

About the lasting a year part...I would have said that before, but now that we know he won't play until December, I don't think he is going to be ready for the NBA after one semester of college ball, and a significant layoff from competitive basketball before that. I would imagine his draft stock is going to drop once it is taken into account that he won't be able to play this season.

What if it were between Jarion Henry and Nolan Dennis? Both are 4* recruits, but would play different positions...

Jarion Henry: 4* Small Foward from Kimball. 6'8" 195lbs. This guy is on my wish list...

After being out of competitive basketball for awhile, I would be surprised if he declared for the draft before playing with us. For the same reason, I am hopeful that he ends up here for more than just spring 2012. Regardless all this publicity for the program is great!

You are right...if his plan was to go back to Missouri he would just go JUCO. If he can keep his grades up, he will be here until he goes to the NBA.

Do you mean Jarion Henry? Jalen Jones already signed a LOI to SMU, and I'm nearly positive they would not release him from it...

Now that I think about it, why would he not be eligible at the start of the season...if he is academically eligible. He does not have to sit out a year...he was never enrolled at Mizzou, so this is not a transfer situation. Also, I saw somewhere that his letter of intent will have expired, its only good for 1 year.

hmmm...If he is eligible mid-December hopefully that doesn't mean he only plays for us for half a season...

I think we will see him play this fall. I may be being a bit overly optimistic, but I have to believe the Coach Jones knows the whole situation, and has in mind exactly what he needs to do to get Mitchell eligible. If he gets accepted to UNT, I think the chances go way up that he will be able to play by this fall. This recruiting class has a chance to be something very, very special. Even more so than it already is.

I would prefer him to be a three and done guy, and then a top 10 NBA pick, but him coming to this program at all will raise the stature of UNT basketball...even if he is only here for one year. I will take him for however long he is here!

It would be cool to get TCU on the schedule, I just don't think it would result in the sort of blog post the we got from Vito last night. I have to beleive it is either unbelievable news about conference realignment, or something else huge. EDIT: Plus, our OOC schedule is full for this fall...I assume we would be dropping Tulsa if this were the news.

I have a hard time not reading into how Vito worded it, which worries me a little...because he is a journalist and he should be deliberate in how he words things...but who knows. (either way it should be good) Anyways, you will probably get a text when this breaks regardless of the time of day, but if it doesn't break until late afternoon I've got you covered.
