The team is young and has no offensive imagination. Is this DD's fault? I don't know. But the buck stops at DD's desk, and if he cannot find an OC that can get the job done, then a change has to be made somewhere. It's hard to blame it all on the QB/OL positions. Every team that we play is watching the S. Miss. tape and emulating their defense. We have WAY too much talent on offense for this inability to score to continue. Is a San Marcos team that played the aggies very close that much better than we are? THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!

I'm generally about as optimistic as they come, but I have to say it. FIRE THE OFFENSIVE LINE AND THE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR! ONE OF THE MOST INEPT OFFENSIVE TEAMS THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN! Now that I have that off of my chest, I'll shut my mouth and try to be positive.

Who Should Start At Quarterback This Week
risinggreen replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
If we continue to let the opposing defense to successfully follow the game plan of S. Miss., put the QB (I prefer Haynes) in the gun on virtually every play. One/two seconds is not enough time for any quarterback to setup for a pass downfield from under center. If not, just snap the ball directly to PC/JT. From what I've seen so far, PC probably has a better arm than Meagher and that formation worked pretty well for us in grade school. -
If DM can only throw the ball 25/30 yards then we need to start recruiting the middle schools. Hell, I could throw that far accurately when I was in the sixth grade! How about Haynes? His numbers in high school were unbelievable. If not, bring in Mills. At least he's got some age on him!

Personally, I didn't see anything sweet tonight other than a bunch of pretty women in the stands. Excuse me, I have to go back and stick my head in the sand.

Patrick Cobbs. Excellent completion percentage!

The most damaging play in UNT football history?
risinggreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Most depressing? The last minute winning field goal by Okie State in Stillwater. It made it extremely depressing for me because I ended up with the ball in the endzone seats. -
So someone thinks that MUTS is the better team? OK, now prove it! Oh that's right, you can't even attempt to do that for another 13 or so months. Sorry about that, but it's pretty clear that we own your school! See ya next year!

Fact or myth? Anyone have a clue?

I hope that the people so concerned about our wardrobe are all women. Hell, we looked OK and we won the damn football game! I think Neiman Marcus is now open on Sunday. Go have at it!

MGRN<>KAFR 88.3 FM-Houston*KWRD 100.7 FM-DFW *KPXI
risinggreen replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Congratulations for what radio coverage? I tried to get 88.3 MeanGreen coverage in Conroe with absolutely no success. IT WAS NOT ON! I did watch the great victory at SRO in Houston, but I wish that the advertised radio debut would have been reality. Was the network expansion just a rumor or will it actually happen someday? -

Southern Comfort and DP.....Not so bad! -
I think we should open the game with 3 straight

Fake it to JT up the gut, pitch to PC, and hit a flying Quinn, Nwigwe, or Muzzy behind the safeties. Otherwise, just try a good old fashioned flea flicker. I know I'm dreaming with DD at the helm, but that would certainly keep 'em off balance for awhile. -
What a FANTASTIC 1st half for the HornedFrogs!

Hate to say I told you so. If they can do it so can we. Way to go Frogs! -

And to think that some people think that teams like OK and LSU can't be beat by teams like TCU and NT because they recruit "a completely different kind of superior athlete." To quote my old grandpappy, HOGWASH!! Or maybe I should say FROGWASH!! -
FANTASTIC!! I spend a lot of time down on Lake Conroe and finally get to hear my MeanGreen over the radio. Listening over dialup internet can be a major hassle. No doubt that it will increase our exposure in the Bayou City. I hope that this will help the Houston Chronicle begin to recognize our existence.

What are our options if LSU game is cancelled
risinggreen replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
If Fouts is out, let's meet them at Rice Stadium. Time is getting short and it might not draw 50k, but it would be a short trip for both and would attract some local interest. -
An LSU boy with a sticky keyboard. Sounds like he needs to head to the swamp and find himself a woman!

Anyone that proclaims that we are going to be blown out before we even hit the field is a loser. I feel sorry for defeatist people like that. Regardless of the opinion of the soon to be incarcerated for life Bernie Ebbers, we shall see what happens in less than three weeks.

Three senior football players leave team
risinggreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Sorry to see Bishop and McNac go. I was hoping that one of the two could contribute at the FB position. Bishop ran through Baylor a couple of years ago like a knife through butter. Too bad. -

People have been claiming for years that we don't have "Big Twelve type" speed, but if you consider our probable top six offensive weapons (Thomas, Cobbs, Quinn, Nwigwe, Muzzy, and Meagher), have we ever had more speed on offense here in Denton? All of those guys are either legitimate D-1 track guys or they could probably hold their own in the sprints against similar position players anywhere around the country. How about the probable starters on defense? We have excellent speed at both corners, both outside linebackers, and both defensive ends. The safety positions are looking pretty quick also. Also, we are probably going to be bigger and stronger across the OL than we have ever been. I know that we have a lot of youth and inexperience, but a good number of the underclassmen that will see significant playing time are redshirts. If the depth and QB position can come through, we could be in for a couple of very special years. Any thoughts?

Although the previous posts (IMO) are pretty much on the mark, I definitely believe that Chris Miller is underrated. Maybe he's a bit undersized, but I bet that he proves to be a force in the middle this season.

Besides NT's Outland Trophy Nominee, D. Lineberry
risinggreen replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
No. You're probably thinking of the true freshman lineman from Paris that goes by the name of Brian Glass. Chad Rose definitely appears to be 6'2" or 6'3". -

risinggreen replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
I was in BR last time and I'm going to do my best to be down there again this year. I think that a bunch of people are going to be surprised by the lack of holes in the Green this year. If the QB position works out OK, I think that our offense is going to be really impressive, and I also believe that the defensive line is going to be better than most people expect. I'm tired of predicting our future OOC performance based on past behavior. We're about due for a change.
