  1. Come on guys and gals! Thirty bucks isn't too much for a nice little marketing campaign for our school. I've been doing my part for the last few years, and it's time that we pass Houston and move into fourth place. Three hundred new registrants should easily do the job.
  2. Case, Washington, Ramsey, the two Scott's, and Mitch. Since they played in different situations, it's kind of difficult to differentiate between the group. Drew had a lot of potential, but unfortunately he didn't play long enough to join the all-time group IMO. Also, I think that Hall deserves much more credit than some people seem willing to give him.
  3. I agree that we will pull it off again this year. Although depth may be a problem, if Lineberry and May both show up we should have an impressive starting OL. Foster brings the average down a bit, but I don't recall us ever having a OL that legitimately averaged close to 300 lbs. I think the DL will turn out to be pretty solid, but I'm kind of concerned about the inexperienced safeties. If the right guys show up to play OL/TE, my major concerns are QB, safety, and how well JB performs at corner. I hope he's capable of handling MUCH bigger receivers.
  4. It was Clyde Drexler who was the HC at the U. of Houston. Murphy has been in the news a lot lately dealing with "domestic issues."
  5. Sad to say but it's hard to disagree with you. The status quo is obviously not working so I'm game for any creative ideas that have a chance of making a difference. How about a dollar night for Denton County residents? How about more student promotions? We've got to find some way to market this thing and put butts in the seats! It's pretty frustrating to see this apathy going on year after year. By the way, does anyone know if the DePaul game back in the late 70's was the only sellout in the Super Pit's history? Trilli's upper level green seats (got to give him some credit) have yet to feel a warm body.
  6. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Tommy Newman (the worst coach in NT history) the one that rejected Spud Webb because of his size? If not, then I guess that my memory is failing me.
  7. Just gotta love Simpson's D. He's seems to be emerging as a force on the inside.
  8. Me thinks that Watson is turning into a bigtime player. He definitely seems to be getting better every game.
  9. Very nice win for our last conference trip to "The Crosses" in New Mexico. The SBC race is looking better all the time.
  10. I was one of the few there for the seven point win, and although it was a pretty boring game, I'll certainly take it. It almost seemed as if our guys were just coasting and keeping the game close. It took forever for us to get there from Coppell. The return trip wasn't bad at all. I hope that the team can pick up the intensity from here on out.
  11. Mr. Livingstoned questions the spelling ability of our posters yet he repeatedly refers to some place called Louisianna. There IS a state directly west of your tiny little directional school which is known as Louisiana. I guess they have not yet advanced beyond reading, writing, and arithmetic at that little outpost in Southern Mississippi. Don't get lost on your way to New Orleans! It's in Louisiana.
  12. They exposed our inside weakness. Their two 6'9" guys shouldn't have been able to dominate us both offensively and defensively the way they did. We would of had to shoot well over fifty percent to have been in the game.
  13. I'm jealous. The wayward fool is already spending his days and nights on Bourbon Street. He'll sober up in a week or so.
  14. We need to be there not only to watch some great SBC vs USA (for now) basketball, but as a Mean Green fan tuneup for the N.O. Bowl 10 days later. I expect a great basketball game and an excellent spirit boosting opportunity heading into the bowl game.
  15. Nice win! We fell apart a little bit at the end but overall a very nice ballgame. Hope we're ready for the tests that are coming over the next couple of weeks. The Frogs looked better than expected against the Bobby Knight boys.
  16. I was at the men's game and was very impressed with our athleticism. If a few things come together this season, I think that we have a definite chance to make some serious noise in the conference tournament at home. We lack a bit of size and experience on the inside, but they're talented and we are deeper and more talented at guard than we have been in years. If Hopkins has a breakout year and Watson lives up to his potential, look out SBC. The crowd was fairly small but enthusiastic. Hope the positive trend there against bigger opponents continues.
  17. They take LIVE lunatics to the coroner's office for evaluation? Strange place.
  18. I remember some good times at Cobb as a kid. The Dr. Pepper basketball tourney next door brings back some good memories.
  19. With the dirt (disclosed or not) that a few of our players have accumulated over the last couple of years, I think that it's wise to leave other schools problems to the other schools. As soon as we're squeaky clean we can start complaining about every screwup around the country.
  20. Apparently some posters still have an inferiority complex. We have more than "a slim chance" of pulling off the upset come September. This thread is just another testiment to the fact that there are no upsets when good teams face off in major college competition.
  21. Congrats Zach! Hope that gives you a good start before heading into the pro ranks. They gave him a pretty nice writeup in the Houston Chronicle.
  22. Excellent pickup. Sure hope it happens. Should be an immediate replacement for Hopkins' point production when he's eligible in '05.
  23. And whatever happened to Pete Sands. 1935-1960? How often does that happen these days?
  24. Certainly nothing to be ashamed of. The guys did their usual come from behind thing but just couldn't quite get over the hump in the end. If the season had lasted a few more weeks I think this team would have proven to be something special. They were really beginning to come together. Best of luck to all the seniors and let's do it next year.
