  1. WKU last 4 games. 56-14 v Miami Ohio, 49-10 v Rice, 58-28 v Muts, 55-28 v NT Scoring 50+ points is not abby normal for the Puff n Stuffs. Yes we had 2 late TD's to make it look better than it was, but you gotta figure all the teams listed above had the same chance. And, guess who covered the spread for the first time this year. Progress!
  2. I love Fritz, but how would all the folks calling for the air raid O handle the triple option? Personally I think it would be a great fit for us because we have always been able to recruit RB's. As far as the Frogs go, I dont think it was as much of a master plan (yes I am aware of the my home team campaign) that got them to where they are as it was a bit of luck. Its easy to say, "hire an experienced head coach and when he moves on, promote his top assistant"...hell, that was the plan here. When Mac moved on after his 3rd bowl win it would likely be Chico's team. There is a huge amount of luck with any hire. I would argue that the rise of TCU can best be attributed to Sullivan, replacing the turf with grass and the recruitment of a little known RB who only had 2 offers, NT & TCU. When Fran took over the team he looked around and found the best RB in the country in his backfield and rode him to 3 great seasons and a job at Bama. So then it was decision time for the Frogs on what to do next. I can tell you from living in the Fort, surrounded by Frog insiders, that very few wanted to promote Patterson. They wanted a known commodity, But the AD (from the recommendation of Fran if I recall correctly) went with the DC with no head coach experience....The early years with Patterson were a little choppy, and the fan base wanted him out on more than one occasion, but Patterson won just enough to keep his job and then built his empire. If LT was not on the roster, would Frans Frogs have gone to 3 bowls in 3 years? Doubtful. Did Fran EVER have the same success as he did in his 3 years at TCU with LT...NO. TCU's meteoric rise had less to do with some master plan or coach Fran and more to do with the fact that they had a grass field, which swayed the best RB in the country to pick the Frogs over the Mean Green. And the fact that Fran brought his unknown DC with him when he took the job at TCU. It was Sullivan that ripped up the turf and laid the grass, Having no idea what the long term outcome would be, that decision is what set TCU on road to success. Oh, and BTW, TCU is currently the only school in the Big 12 that plays on grass...coincidence?
  3. The frisbee golf course that snaked through campus. We had a standing game that would tee off at midnight (back then thats when the bars closed). Played a couple times a week. Load up a 6, put in a big ass chew and tee off. Loved those warm summer nights, the flickering lights and the dead calm of the campus at 1am in July. Awesome. With the new construction, not sure the old course still exists. The course layout wasn't something that was publicized or printed out but passed down. Would love to know if its still around. And yes, I do believe I could still take my ultimate frisbee and dominate the dudes who play with a bag of disks. The pouch is for your chew, the bag is for your beer...Amateurs.
  4. No Doubt, Jamario was the best back I ever saw play for us. His balance and break away speed were awesome. I wish I could find the highlights from that Colorado game. PC is still my favorite running back, his vision and initial burst was incredible, but he didnt have the top end speed and explosiveness that Jamario had. Some highlights
  5. 88 degrees...that sounds like a cold front. After 30 days of 100+ we should be acclimated to the heat. I will take 88 in Sept all day long.
  6. Here is one that I have been kicking around for a bit. I have been contesting for years that we should try to incorporate more EPL style songs into game day...but without the cussing and cockney accents Here is a pretty simple one that would set us apart from the rest of college football. Instead of going into the same ol - na na na na hey hey hey goodby. Change it up to a variation of an Arsenal Giroud chant. To the chorus of Hey Jude. Na na na nananana nananana You Loose http://fanchants.co.uk/football-songs/arsenal-chants/olivier-giroud/ Of corse it could only be sung in the last minutes of a game that we have in the books. Im going to bring my kazoo and get this fired up in my friendly corner of the endzone
  7. would be even cooler if the first 4 words were slowed down. Then you do the entire chant fast. Go...Mean...Green...Eagles...Go Mean Green Eagles Fight Fight Fight And if you want to get really coordinated, the first 4 words are split between the two sides, then the entire stadium says the final 7 together ...seems like we have been talking about this since 02 Are there any good current rock anthems beats/chants that we could rip off...ala 7 nation army. Something the students might get behind
  8. But he still fails to recognize that we are in the same boat. None of us will get into the Big 12. You have to look at through the Big 12 teams eyes. 1) Why would any of them want any more competition recruiting the metroplex or houston? They dont. They already have to fight amongst themselves and the SEC. 2) Why would they (Big 12) want to add anyone (Central Fla, Cin, Memphis, CoSt) that could potentially benefit from the above mentioned recruiting hot beds and possibly rise up to be a power? And if the future is 4, 16 team conf, adding anyone would mean more than one team gets left at the alter. What if by then any of those teams (assuming they are added to big 12) becomes a powerhouses...does that increase the odds of someone who might have had a couple down years like Iowa St or Tech or TCU at risk of being left behind? Why would any of the current Big 12 want to take that risk? 3) Why would they want to add any more teams. That means more hands in the cookie jar. They screwed up when they sat on their hands and didnt grab Louisville. Now they are in a wait and see pattern. If the playoffs get expanded to 8 before the next shake up, then I think they might expand. Until then I think they wait and see how next season shakes out. If it goes back to normal, with one clear champ...all is right.
  9. Its all about $ and recruiting. Houston doesnt bring anything to the table that the Big 12 (TEXAS) doesnt already have. That is fertile recruiting ground for the Horns. Orange greed doesnt want to bring in another mouth to feed. BUT, What has the Froggies all worked up is the talk of OU to SEC. If that happens and the landscape shifts to 4, 16 team conferences, and you include the Irish...when the musical chairs stop there will be one school left out. If the ACC is the East Coast conf, SEC - South, Big - North & Pac - West...the back fill will come from the Big 12. So who gets left out? The new kid on the block? The sand aggies whose only hope is to hang on to UT's coat tails? Someone from the midwest?
  10. Great pick up. Good to see us recruiting in the Fort. The kid is fast as lightning and has great vision. Electric when the ball is in his hands.
  11. All the "Frogs in the know" that I chat with say that IF the Big 12 expands, it will not be in TX. WVU needs a friend. Start there, then look West.
  12. To further add fuel to the fire, the coaches caravan is returning to the Fort this week, but it will be a lunch in the Stockyards...and it will probably be a failure. To FW folk, the Stockyards is kind of like having the Dallas event at WestEnd. I will be there with the same handful of die hard guys that go with me every year, but expect a low turnout again, and expect the accusations to be made again that FW doesnt support NT. Oh and its also the week of Colonial, on Wednesday, which is the Pro Am, which is considered the best day to go to the tourney by many people, myself included. If anyone in the admin is reading this, here is how you get a good turnout in FW next year. First off, have a presence at Main St Arts Festival. UTA has a booth, Main St would be a great time to push the university, season ticket sales, MGC and inform people about the Coaches Caravan. Have the event Downtown, its pretty small and self contained, but locals actually work there and live there and spend money there on the weekend. Have the event start at 5:30 on a week night, bring down one of the jazz bands to play during cocktail hour. Start the event at 6:30, (after 6 downtown parking is free). You will catch the young alums that live downtown, the old alums that work downtown and make it easy for those that dont work or live outside of downtown to attend.
  13. Dave Palmer can melt your mind on the keys http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Palmer_%28American_keyboardist%29 & Earl Harvin is the most gifted drummer I have ever seen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earl_Harvin Ten Hands Deep Blue Something
  14. Well, if they are anything like the last batch of black uni's we rolled out, he is probably trolling around on 3XL's concepts for ideas.
  15. This. And if we are going to play lower division schools lets bring in SFA instead of the likes of Portland....Hell, SFA would travel better than SMU.
  16. The Metroplex is what we locals call this area. But "North Texas" is what this region is now known as nationally thanks to Jerry building the Death Star in Arlington. The SuperBowl, National Title Game, Final Four were all hosted by North Texas...not Arlington, Dallas or Fort Worth. With much, much more to come. I would argue that because of Jerry World the term North Texas is on track to become a major regional reference much like Southern Cal. If there was ever a time to piggy back on some free national marketing, its now.
  17. Yes, we are better known for producing National Merit Scholars & Titans of Industry.
  18. Old Texas Brewing has a lot of TV's. Anyone in that part of the woods knows where it is. I think they call that part of Burleson Old Town.
  19. Here you go. https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=201091365063211794234.0004e1e616fa14ccb41aa
  20. 110, first row. Best seat in the house for 30% of the game.
