  1. Seems like Jamize is a Brandon Jacobs type of RB. If he makes the team, he may be a DeMarco/Felix killer for Fantasy football owners. Goal line touches will probably be his.
  2. 2 ways this thing could have gone (of course there could be variances, but overall, there are 2 different scenarios): 1. Coach Benford was ecstatic with his 13 man roster this season and ready to roll, when T.J. Taylor leaves Marquette and reaches out to him for a spot. Of course, coach Benford wants to try and make room for him... there had to be someone who needed to be placed on the altar though. Coach Benford has that difficult "you're at the end of my bench, kid" talk with T-No and works his butt off to find a place for him to land after an agreement is reached. It's all good. This is bittersweet, but this is the way I hope it all went down. 2. Coach Benford goes to work on T.J. Taylor immediately after getting here. Smiling in T-No's face all the while knowing that if he doesn't get T.J., he's got a nice PG on his bench, but IF T.J. jumps on board, this is the guy who is going. Trey is somewhat "strung along" until Benford gets the commitment from T.J. Once he does, it's time to have the difficult "you're at the end of my bench, kid" talk with Trey, reaches out to some buddies at other schools to do Trey a favor,etc... If this is the way it went down, I'm more inclined to agree with Tasty, it's not something I would be proud of. If this is the scenario, then who knows how many others were targeted like T.J., and who else on the team was in the cross-hairs? Either way, it looks like we are done making moves. So hopefully we don't see this again.
  3. Silver, I played trombone in high school. I have a pretty good ear too. Put a 2 O'clock t-bone and a 1 O'clock t-bone in front of me and have them play the same piece (like a neutral piece that neither band plays regularly) and honestly, I probably could not tell you who is who. It would be different if you could notice a gap in the quality of the drumline. But 99% of people in Apogee on Saturdays cannot, myself included. There's no need to bash the GB using the #2 line since the #1 line legitimately has a different focus. There's virtually no difference in skill between the two when playing some football show tunes.
  4. The difference between the top line and the second line is probably so miniscule, you would not notice a difference in playing ability. Silver, I'd be willing to bet that if both lines walked out in front you and played the same set, you wouldn't know which is which. This isn't Derek Thompson VS Andrew McNulty. All of these guys spend the entirety of their summers on DCI teams. They're all very, very good. We keep talking about athletics team depth, but the UNT Music program is DEEEEEEP.
  5. I guess a link to last year's thread would help in the case of abductions, a-la: EagleMBA almost having to issue an Amber Alert as his boy Tevin Cantly was almost kidnapped by that questionable Quoner guy. Last Year's Adoptions:
  6. That's Creepy KRAM. But it will be interesting to hear your take on the "co-eds" every week.
  7. They're spraying everywhere man!! The "duet" is laced with microscopic microphones that will record our every conversation.
  8. Leave it to special interests in George Bush's hometown to step over their limits to poison innocent people in the name of making a dollar.
  9. There have been a handful of deaths around the DFW area, and several more infected, but if you spray with bug spray whenever you are going to be outside for a long time, you should be alright. Plus, you're a college-aged student with the campus health center at your fingertips, not an extremely old person with no money for a dr/er visit, so I really wouldn't worry at all.
  10. I guess we can have multiple people adopt a single player, but in case you didn't see, check out the very first post in this thread.
  11. It has become a fun yearly tradition for Mean Green faithful to chose one of their favorite players on the team and "adopt" them as their player-to-watch. Weekly update threads are formed after each game to brag on your boy's statistics, or that jaw-dropping play he made or was in on. Here is a link to the roster. http://www.meangreen...=562&SPSID=9053 Take a look-see and chose the guy you want to adopt. It doesn't matter who: It could be a guy you think is going to be all-conference, a sleeper that you think will surprise everyone, a freshman that you expect to blow up, or some just choose out of pity's sake. Make your picks here. With the first pick in the first round, MeanGreenTexan selects: Zachary Orr. MLB. Bust some heads Zach! 12. Do you go to rehab for weed? I'm not sure I've ever heard of that... Must have been something different.
  13. I'm proud of my former adopted player! Which reminds me, *HIGHJACK ALERT!* We need to start up the official player adoption thread again. I continued my MLB adoptions last year with Zach Orr, and I ain't changing. Get 'em Zach! Go Craig! Make the team, make some dough, keep working hard, and make the Mean Green Nation proud!
  14. I think the sticking point here is Grant.UNT's comment that he was donating last year at the $500 level, but then found out about the young alum program and decreased his gift significantly for the same benefit he was willing to pay more for last year. Honestly, this made me do a double-take as well. I certainly have no idea what his circumstances are, so there's no way I can say "That is wrong." Maybe his financial situation changed from last year? That's his business not mine. I certainly still qualify for this loophole as my wife graduated in 2010. But we give more because we want to and it still fits in our budget... Not for the benefits. For those of you out there who recently graduated and are still schlepping at entry-level positions, taking your lumps before you make your move up the ladder to the corner office; PLEASE TAKE ADVANTAGE of the young alumni giving program. It's really not too much per month (you can break your gift down into 5-month installments), and you can proudly say you're a Mean Green Club member and you are part of the University's climb to athletic dominance where one day Texas, A&M, Oklahoma, LSU, Bama, et.al., will be begging us to let them in our conference. It really shouldn't matter what perks you get... unless you're in the "wheel club" or something... just give what you can.
  15. You know... There is a certain poster that is not good with brevity who often irks many of us and has used multiple pseudonyms that have wound up banned in the past, who may be able to shed a little light on this (Granted, it needs to be taken with a grain of salt, or rather, an extra-large saltlick). CheckFacts/TodgeRodge/GL2Greatness: let me hear from you!
  16. Ah! I did not know that... I guess I just assumed. Oh well. Either way, there are 2 Med schools in Houston, so I doubt the university will get to plant one.
  17. I hope Idaho players enjoy being on the road... often.
  18. I'm not sure what they did, or if they made the same type of move in order to move up in their standings. What I do know is that we were not doing this before and there was probably a reason for it, but were falling behind in the race for Tier1/NRUF funds, and this provides a quick boost to the bottom line without really doing anything. So now we can pool the HSC funds together with the University's research dollars, but we still don't have any new streams coming in, so we'll just be stuck at this new number (albeit a higher number). Also, Tech's main HSC is on the main Lubbock campus. They have several satellite campuses around the state too, so I don't know how that works. I would think the main Lubbock HSC campus would count towards the University's funds anyway. Ours is all the way down I-35W in Ft. Worth. Houston doesn't have a HSC... but they have a college of Optometry (I don't know if there is alot of extra funds for Optometry research). UT & Baylor both have Med school campuses in Houston, so I doubt UH gets one there.
  19. Seems kinda like a "cheap" move if you ask me. I thought Lee was a big hitter that was supposed to bring in tons of money from his connections in Dallas & Austin? This seems like a move of desperation.
  20. I think Dr. Seuss is just "putting in the call", per se. Not necessarily saying "He's already busted", but that "He won't be as good as everyone expects in the future". I don't think there's anything wrong with that. What's odd is that he reminds us about it at every turn, almost as if he's glad Cam may fail. If anything, he's a success, since because of him, his brother is here and appears to be the lock for our starting C for years to come.
