  1. not my argument sir, just what I'm observing in this thread.
  2. I think people are trying to shoe-horn a separate argument in here. I think a win against UT in Austin would be the biggest win in UNT football's cap. Period. Some are trying to argue though, that they would rather lose the UT game (as expected) if it would guarantee some other scenario with more wins. I think most would fall into this camp. I'd rather have a 10-win season with a UT loss, rather than a 6-6 season with a UT win. But, the UT win would still be the biggest in program history.
  3. Links broken brah. Hurry up and fix so I can click on each one of them.
  4. I heard DD went to Albertsons, called it the worst grocery store in America, and told the cashier not to forget how much money she was getting as she watched how much ramen & bud light he was buying. Then, he handed her a black practice jersey.
  5. OK, yeah, but this is an honest question. So how do you honestly feel?
  6. I think the idea is to compensate the players on teams that are producing revenue like football. If that's the driving force behind a stipend, then football and, on occasion, mens basketball (does TN, ND and/or UConn WBB produce revenue?), would be the only teams to receive stipend funds.
  7. Tulane was a good team last year. We ran all over alot of bad teams last year. Just because we weren't running it down their throats for 200-300+yds like what we did to MT,LT, USM, UTEP, doesn't mean the O-line isn't wearing down the opposing defense. I understand a 1.5yd avg is horrible. Of course, when you're down 21-7 in the 4th quarter, it's time to abandon the run & throw. That's always true. And, very true that the comeback to tie in the 4th quarter came from passing the ball... but I don't know if we would have had to do that if we didn't spot them 14 points on 2 botched plays. Without giving up those 14 points, maybe the running game becomes more fruitful than 1.5yds/carry. Tulane's offense wasn't all that stellar either. Guess we'll never know. But, we do know that this is McCarney's bread and butter, so get used to it. It's old-school, and it works for the most part. On the flipside, there could be another Tulane game in store for us this year.
  8. LOL at raising $9k from here. Ask KRAM1 how raising funds on GMG.com winds up. And he's probably the best one on here at doing it.
  9. Tulane was more-or-less lost on one play... the blocked FG returned for a TD. That's a 10-point swing. (DT's pick-6 didn't help either). Everything else during that game was going as normal. We were grinding down Tulane's D with the run game. Recall, Tulane ran a 4-2-5 defense. That's a glaring weakness for a road-grading O-line, like we have. Granted, they had that LSU D-line transfer clogging the middle, but we were still able to get to the 2nd level often. And, I know you know this: Whenever DT threw an INT, the red flag went up in coach McCarney's mind, and the passing game suffered the rest of the game. The Mean Green beat themselves that day.
  10. #3 is the most likely. However, It will be hard to hit 7 if we fail on #2. The rest would be gravy.
  11. Really going to need Marshall to represent C-USA this year in OOC. 3 games against MAC, that's crazy. If we want people to take C-USA seriously VS the MAC, then we're going to need Marshall to win these 3.
  12. Stockstill is his own enemy. His teams are never consistent. He'll have a great year or 2, then have a stinker season or 2. Very odd.
  13. Big crowd, sure. Sellout? Not close. The benchmark has been set with the Houston game. If we don't beat Texas, the SMU game won't top the Houston attendance.
  14. Drove by UTSA this weekend as we went to eat in the Mercado. Reminds me alot of a fancier CCCC - Plano Campus.
  15. Love the direct challenge to Jimmerson @ 1:00. Highlight of him over audio:"Are you only the legend? Or, are you the truth..." Highlight of Byrd running through an O-line:"...behind the legend."
  16. I also agree with Harry. Having all of these Texas schools is great, although I wish it wasn't set up to be feast/famine scheduling (all 3 TX schools at home 1 yr, then all 3 on the road the next). UNT is in a great spot right now. Could it be better? Maybe. And who knows? 5 years from now, C-USA could have a team or two in the top 25 and be looked upon as leapfrogging the MWC as the best non-AQ conference. But, as it stands right now, the college fb world sees the MWC (thanks in most-part to Boise) as the top-dog for the non-AQ conferences. TCU's wayward journey to the Big12 may have been a dumb stroke of luck, but it's one that I wouldn't mind trying to copy. Even if it doesn't wind up with a Big12 invite, it ends up well.
  17. Right, and with the exception of San Jose State, all have improved their commitment to athletics and are competitive like UNT. The current MWC is nothing like the Big West of the late 90's - early 00's. The MWC has a great reputation. C-USA's reputation is going through an overhaul. Not saying it can't come out rosey, and I'm definitely not saying we're not better off here than before in the SBC.
  18. Get ready for a bevvy of posts recalling our years in the Big West and how they were so horrible, asking if you want to go down that road again... since the Big West conference and the MWC are so similar.
  19. Too bad the Bubas Cup standings never reflected that.
  20. It was definitely not a mistake to include MT, and I don't think WKY is a bad addition either.
  21. Bahamas bowl will be a great landing spot for FAU. We're either headed for the HOD again if we do really well, or the NM Bowl.
  22. That's happening now. They've already lost a ton of sponsors. He still doesn't appear to be remorseful. I bet the other owners' pressure on him will have more of an effect. For now, he seems to be happy doing whatever he wants to do/saying whatever he wants to say and appears to be defiant to whatever anyone thinks about it. Clippers fans would be thrilled if someone else bought the team, but that was true before all of this went down.
  23. Public pressure is obviously not making him do anything. It looks like he just doesn't care.
  24. I have no idea why he has not said anything publicly to try and curb this. He's letting this gaping wound fester. I guess he either believes any publicity is good publicity, or he is getting horrible legal advice. It just cost him, because Silver will succeed in getting the other owners to force him out. Can't trust hoes.
