As always, it depends on the month and time of kick-off :-)

So here's a quandary...on game days do you want a nice breeze to completely unfurl the flag in all it's majestic glory (but possibly affect the passing game) or do you want a calm day possibly benefiting the passing game (but leaving the flag limp and hanging down against the pole)?

Meh...it was a home game. Just wait until they carry one of our away games ;-). Agree with the earlier comments that the production was top-notch. Really good camera work and announcers.

What Southern Miss Fans Are Saying About UNT
keith replied to AustinFromUNT's topic in Mean Green Football
I get it. When we win, it's just dumb luck or the football gods chose to smile on UNT for once. When we lose, the other team has better athletes, better coaches or is just a "year ahead" of us. Last time I checked turnovers are part of the game as are injuries, backup players, bad officiating, weather and funky bounces of the ball. Our backup QB was better than their backup QB that game. In other words, we had more depth at a critical position than USM did. That usually makes one team better than the other not luckier. Our backup RB was just as productive as their starting RB. Morris also threw an INT and we lost 2 of our three fumbles. USM lost 1 fumble, so it's not like we dominated the turnover battle. We scored more points, we won. -
What Southern Miss Fans Are Saying About UNT

Why do we always feel compelled to explain away or come up with some excuse for our wins? I just don't get it. We have got to be the most neurotic fan base in college football. Isn't it possible that we were simply the better team on the field that day or doesn't that ever enter the equation?- 42 replies

What Southern Miss Fans Are Saying About UNT

Didn't we beat them last year? That's pretty recent history and we weren't very good last year. -
If you can't pick up a 3rd and 2 from your own 45, then you probably shouldn't be going for it on 4th and 1 from your own 46.

I thought we were trying to win conference championships, not just to become bowl eligible.

Alabama Birmingham gave away this game
keith replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
Should have probably gone for two instead of going for the tie and potentially forcing OT. UAB had all the momentum at that time. Who knows how it would have ended if UAB went for the win at that point, but I think that may have been where the game was "given away." -
Looking good!

speechless

jeez...at this point getting to OT would be a miracle.

They are more of a first half crowd.

Oh my.

Agreed. Technically, I'm not sure that's really a flag. This is more like a wall hanging or banner with an image of the flag on it...a North Texas Battle Flag Banner. At least we didn't make the big one on the flag pole like this. Applaud the effort, however, to generate fan support, interest and attendance.

Jeez-o-pete....it's 2017! What's taken so long?

We are clearly a first and second down defensive team. We looked great on those downs. Third down or worse third and long we are horrible. Our defense was on the field so long because we kept letting Iowa extend their drives on third down conversions. I was watching the game with a couple friends (one an Iowa alum). Both were impressed with the Mean Green, but noticed that our defensive line consistently lines up way off the line of scrimmage. They kept saying that we were giving up 1-2 yards before the ball was even snapped. They also commented on the cushion our DBs were giving their receivers. Is our defense (DL and DB) being coached that way?

This is just me, but if you want it to be visible from maximum distance, you put it at the highest point, which would probably be somewhere on the hill. A hundred and twenty (or a hundred) feed on top of that and you see it from a long way away. But that's just me. I'm sure it will look great where it is and I'm excited to see it. Disappointed it wasn't ready for the first game of the season, but I understand the reasons. I guess I'll have to wait until next season to see it.

New Soccer, Track Stadium To Break Ground In October
keith replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
The soccer/track complex was fully funded in February of 2017. For some reason, yet to be fully explained IMHO, the project was delayed until now to "allow UNT to build the best venue possible." Vito went as far as saying that the delay was a good thing, which I have not quite figured out yet. -
New Soccer, Track Stadium To Break Ground In October
keith replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
This is exciting news and it's nice to see it get going. When this was approved by the BOR and funded back in February and then delayed in May, we were told the delay was to "allow UNT to build the best venue possible." Does anyone know what changed since May? Was the design of the facility changed (improve/enhanced), more seating, etc.? Did we negotiate a better deal on the construction (saving $ or getting more bang for the buck)? Just curious what goes on the make this a better venue (or deal) now than it was back in May. -
Why can't we just say, "Congrats Mason! Way to go. Proud of you representing UNT."

After watching those highlights, I have no idea how we lost that game ;-).

My Adopted Player, Andy Flusche, Was Robbed
keith replied to AustinFromUNT's topic in Mean Green Football
There have been bad calls since the beginning of time. Instant replay was supposed to fix it. When instant replay is used to make a bad call, well that's just a kick in the nether regions. UNT has been kicked there a lot.
