  1. If bleeping UH can be a Top 25 team, there's no reason UNT can't be.
  2. Dodge installed a similar system and there is no question we were able to move the ball around. Our biggest problem was the defense not being able to stop anyone. If we can hire a solid DC we should be competitive quickly.
  3. I've been excited to see the number of posts and videos on Facebook surrounding the Littrell Hire. It sure makes it easy, as an Alum, to hit the "share" button and make sure all my fellow UNT Friends know what's going on. My wife saw the pictures of Coach with his family and she thought their kids were "adorable". Someone in the Athletic Dept got this started in a good way. Loved seeing the video of them on the plane looking down at Denton. I'm sure there are other ways to keep the excitement level up surrounding this hire, but the use of Social Media has been great. I don't remember them doing this as much in the past, but maybe I'm just blocking it out.
  4. Feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football. Can't wait for the official announcement! Go Mean Green!
  5. I refuse to believe we should ever lose to any former Sun Belt Conference member. That doesn't mean we won't, just means we shouldn't, so I won't predict something that shouldn't happen. Go Mean Green!
  6. The key is beating schools people have heard about which isn't going to happen quickly, but HAS to happen. The Dickey era was nice, but we were always viewed as beating spares. Nobody gives a crap about beating a lower tier (perception) school like ULL, ULM, FAU, FIU, USA, ASU, MTSU, etc.... We are in the DFW market. We are surrounded by people that went to Big 12 and SEC schools. We need to be able to play them competitively. Ultimately the goal should be to win some of those games. As long as we're the whipping boy of the "Big Boys" you're not going to change public perception. Scheduling 2-3 pay check games a year kills your public perception. Facilities and conference killed the Dickey era success. But - It all starts with winning. You have to win against the lower tier schools and not put yourself in a position of playing the 'Body Bag" games for a while. See TCU in the early 2000's. They kept winning. They won their conference, and played other similar level teams and kept winning those. Eventually they started to be noticed by the fans of big schools who would say "yeah but they haven't played anyone". That's when they started playing the "Big Boys" again, and being competitive and started winning those too.
  7. Agree. It should be RV's job to work in the community. The coach needs to win. People will come out of the wood work if it appears we've changed our stripes.
  8. I watched almost the entire game and, just like Charlie Brown, I kept waiting for the ball to be taken away. Great game! The announcers commented that we only had 9 girls available because we have 4 transfers from Big12 schools who have to sit out this year. At the end of the game we had 3 who had fouled out, and if I'm not mistaken included all of our Post players. Go Mean Green!
  9. I'm so tired of being a North Texas fan. Having to have the same conversations about being bad every year with friends and coworkers. 2013 was fun, but it's like giving a single piece of bread to someone who's starving. I'm tired of the excuses. I want following UNT to be fun. We don't have to be competing for a National Championship but even Houston gets ranked in the Top 25 sometimes.
  10. What area has he been responsible for recruiting? Even if his coaching is outstanding, we still need someone who can improve our recruiting.
  11. Way to go Ladies! I hate to say that we haven't made it up for a game this year. How's the attendance? They getting good support? This is awesome!
  12. Although I love to see the coaches out visiting with the DFW Alumni, I really believe they should tell the new coach that if he wants to see a full stadium, and really make a change for the future of the University, he can just stay on campus and work on the students. No news to anyone here, but with a student population that could fill our stadium to capacity, you don't need to look much further for gameday support. We are turning a corner with Alumni. With a 15 year history of allowing tailgating before the games, you can start to see young alums who at least will go to the parking lot to hang out with friends, and with a decent product on the field will go inside. This segment will continue to grow. Once these alumni no longer have kids at home pulling them in different directions on Saturdays, they will come back to support the school, especially if the game day atmosphere continues to be fun. I look forward to the day the Green Brigade is forced to sit in the endzone because the student section is packed. We're getting close.
  13. Couldn't you just fly a banner that says "We Want Change"? You don't have to publicly crap on a guy to get your message heard. The powers that be will know exactly what you are talking about, and those that don't will assume it means something to the effect that we, as a fan base, are tired of being on the ass end of the major college sports. We want change. We demand change.
  14. Not with this defense. You can't give up that many points.
  15. We need a new AD. I know this is nothing new to this board, but we all need to be saying it. I've liked RV. We have turned a MAJOR corner in terms of facilities with him here. It's impossible to say whether we would have achieved the same thing (or more?) with anyone else, but the facts show we've seen improvements. He has made some extremely bad hires in the most visible of college sports, and has been unable to build any kind of momentum after those facilities were completed. In any kind of organization you sometime need someone to take you from one level to another. Their roles are suited for those short term jobs. I see RV as someone who came in and saw a bad situation that could be made better. He did get the University to allow Tailgating, and he helped institute some school pride with students, the crown jewel being the new stadium. These are organizational and planning jobs. The hiring of coaches hasn't gone as well. He was suited for taking us from an abysmal situation to a better situation but doesn't have either the skills or mindset to help the University take the next step. We need a fresh set of eyes and enthusiasm to come in and make those next level changes. This person will be optimistic with the resources available, and not still view the school/alumni through the same set of eyes that sees only apathy. RV is like that first car you buy when you get your first real job. It's decent, it takes you to work and allows you to change your financial situation for the better as you change jobs for more money and a better life. Eventually you look at the car and think "this doesn't represent where I currently am in life. I can afford better, and if I want to keep improving my situation I need something that shows my success better". That old car isn't bad it's just not the one to take you on to the next level. RV can't help but see the negative and frustrations he's experienced with this University. He knows the potential but can't communicate that in a different way than he has for the last several decades. The people are tired of hearing the same old lines from the same old people. Even if a new person comes on and says the same thing in a different way, it'll still be new and different. It's time for change.
  16. Great job ladies! I know UNLV didn't invite us out there so they could lose their own tournament. Ha! That's what you get!
  17. If we could shoot free throws this game would be completely different. So frustrating. So basic.
