If that's true about WB, he needs to reevaluate himself and what he is doing. Right now he hasn't proved he can be a successful AD yet. Let's face it. Seth Littrell came in under RV, Jalie Mitchell came in under RV, John Hedlund has been with Soccer for awhile, and Palileo was here with Volleyball before WB. The only hire he has made is GMac and we do not know how that is going to turn out yet. He should wait until his hires and his changes start to work before he starts doing stupid stuff. The only good move he has made so far is firing Tony Benford.

I believe the coaches have to cut their teeth somewhere and I am assuming they are using North Texas for that and I am okay with it. My problem is when a defense plays as bad as ours have this year. Even the DC at Denton High School or Ryan High School could do better. This was just embarrassing and against a team that is really not as good as we made them look tonight. ODU played them tougher than we did. Iowa didn't beat us a bad as FAU did and Iowa is a P5 school. Maybe they needed this ass kicking to wake them up. Sometimes teams get embarrassed like this and they go on a tear for the rest of the season. Sometimes they pack it in and fold. Let's hope it is the former in our case.

I don't know if the wives had anything to do with this loss or not. What I do know is that this defense is giving up more points per game than they did last season. What's the difference? The difference is Ekeler is gone and Reffett is the lone DC. Maybe that's why Ekeler left. Maybe he didn't agree with what Reffett wanted and got tired of it. Reffett has been a DC before and it was short lived. He should go back to his Alma Mater which is UTEP. There is no way a defense with basically the same people as last year should be this bad except that the DC is that bad. It's too late now to change, but at the end of the season Seth needs to have that difficult talk with Reffett. If Seth is expecting to move up to a P5 school, he has got to prove that he can win in all three phases of the game and not just on offense. When a team has to rely on it's offense to bail them out, that is a recipe for disaster. It has always been true and is true now, defense wins championships.

Weather channel pretty much is saying no rain. I think with Tillman Johnson back, we shut down their run game and force them to beat us through the air. They are not good at throwing so I say 3 sacks, 2 INTs. Then we grind them with Wilson and Smith. Once they start putting 8 in the box to slow down our ground game, it will be Fine to JG for at least 3 TDs. UNT wins 31-17.

I agree. Keep giving him money. Why not UNT? If Patterson can do it at TCU, Littrell can do it at UNT. TCU wasn't always in the Big 12. They got an invite after being in CUSA and Mountain West because Patterson was able to build a winner there and the administration was able to keep him. Bill Snyder was able to do the same at K-State and K-State actually has an overall losing record as a football program since their inception. Snyder was able to turn things around over the last 30 years. UNT screwed the pooch the last time we had a great one in Hayden Fry. Back then though I don't believe the University was invested in building a sports program.I could be wrong about the Fry years and the University's commitment because I was too damn young to care even though I am from Denton. LOL

Personally I think Seth wants to stay in this area of the country. Whether that's Texas or Oklahoma, who knows, but I think he wants to be around here somewhere. I could see him taking the Tech job or maybe even consider Baylor, but Baylor is a mess right now. As far as GH, I think schools would want him to be an OC for a little longer. My main concern about SL was I thought he would consider going to OU as the OC after Stoops left. Especially since that is his alma mater. I just believe being a HC means more to him. I saw somewhere that OU OC gets paid $2,000,000 a year and SL will just start getting paid $1,000,000 next year so that's why I was concerned.

You are are absolutely right about an increase in spending. However, part of the problem is that the thousands and thousands of Alumni in the DFW area won't even support the athletics department. Hell, they don't even come to games. The stadium is only 30,850 and we cannot even fill that. So, in order to make more money, people should at least start coming to the games. UNT has been the 4th largest university in the state for over 30 years and yet more people show up at TCU games and they are only about 1/7th the size of UNT. Their alumni support them. UNT alumni support other schools for sports and that's the shame. I bet more UNT alumni spent the money to go to the Texas vs OU game and wouldn't even spend a dime going to a UNT game. How can we build a winner and keep good coaches when the alumni won't even pay to come to the games? Just my opinion. I am an alumni and I go to the games so I know some alumni do support athletics. I just wish more did. You are right, but there are two major differences between UNT and UTEP. 1. UNT is in a hotbed for recruiting and UTEP not so much. 2. Living in DFW is hundreds of times better than El Paso.

In a word yes. It's just not something that he does because the weather says that there will be rain. He has them practice with wet balls, he sprays water in players faces, etc.

Last night on Seth Littrell's radio show from Rudy's, he said they do not worry about the weather. He also said he does spray the ball down, spray water in players faces, etc just to get them ready for wet conditions. He said he has always done that and is not doing it because of the expected weather. He basically said it is something he has always done no matter what conditions are expected at game time. At the end of the day, both teams play in the same conditions.

Did the guy at the top really try and call us Southern Oklahoma Institute of Fine Arts? No wonder they lost. They live in a fantasy world and not reality. How is a school barely above community college level trying to call us that? UNT has been at the university level before UTSA was probably even a community college.

I'm not saying Fine isn't great, but the fact remains that height does affect most QBs abilities. Yes, Doug Flutie played great, but that was almost 30 years ago. Successful QBs that are not over 6' are rare that's why everyone has to hearken back to Flutie. I believe Mason is the real deal. Just wondering how Shanbour would look in a game with more than a couple of snaps. If nothing else, just to take my curiosity away. I hope they blow FAU out so we can see him play. I doubt if that will happen though because I don't see the defense holding any team for long.

Since they are honoring Hayden Fry at this game, I think it's entirely possible that they will surprise us all and come out with some throwbacks from the 70s with the Flying Worm. Haha

I like what Mason has done, but when I saw Shanbour come in against Iowa, make that one keeper and then threw the TD pass, I really wanted to see what he is capable of. With his HT vs Mason's HT, it could be intriguing to see who is better in a game instead of practice. Obviously, this is not the game to do that in.

This will be a tough game. UTSA will be very well prepared. The O-line has got to give Mason time to throw. If he has time, he can find the open receiver. If they give Wilson a slight crease, he can make them pay big time. However, my concern is the defense. We have not proven that we can stop the big pass plays. We need to get more pressure on the QB to force errant throws. We have been getting killed on big pass plays. Also, we need to control rush lanes and work on tackling. I don't know how many times I have watched a QB scramble in the pocket and defenders seem to be out of position or just grabbing and not tackling only to see that QB complete a deep pass down the field. The secondary needs to stop biting on the double moves. Sometimes I would love to see us go to a four man front to get more pressure on the QB. Our defense has been our Achilles heel. If it wasn't for the offense scoring so many points, we could easily be 1-4. So, I hope Coach Reffett and the rest of the defensive staff are hard at work to fix those issues. If we get Bryce back, that will help, but I don't expect him to play much. I know Jenkins has replaced Brooks, but would also like to see Brooks come in as a nickel corner on obvious passing downs.

UNT should have beaten UAB soundly. I think they got lazy in the second half because they were up by so much. Once they realized UAB wasn't going to lay down for them, they did what needed to be done to get the win. If they play like they are capable of playing for 60 minutes, they could go 10-2 in the regular season. All the games they have left are winnable games.
