I hope he was our first choice. Mac was a somewhat proven headcoach who had won in a difficult place and that didn't help. We got a proven offensive mind who will attract solid recruits. This is a good thing.

Coordinator at a P5 is not the same as coordinator at one of THE P5s that matter like LSU. Either job can be seen as a promotion.

I was about to say this. The two FCS wins might cost them a chance at the college football playoffs, but it for sure helped them get in the conversation. If those were two games against a G5 and a low tier P5, they might not have won both games and you might currently be looking at a 10-2 team with no shot at the playoffs and Littrell might not look as attractive as a HC. Lots of speculation. At the end of the day, you win the games you play. And to the person who said OU beat 5 top 25 teams, no. OU beat 2 teams who were ranked in the top 25 when they played them and who are now unranked. Other than that, OU played 3 top 25 teams who will not even garner consideration for the playoffs. If UNC beats #1 unbeaten Clemson, that win should mean more than any of OUs wins.

How does losing an experienced back in Byrd and adding Wilson and Evans add up to being "virtually the same RBs"? Even with Wilson being more talented (in my opinion), experience plays a factor especially in pass protection. Besides, I never said you could sit in the pocket with some coffee and a good book if you have the best O-Line, I said it's a mutual relationship between the three parts of the offense.

Stahhhppppp! The O-line was great in 2013 and it wasn't because of D Thompson. According to cfbstats.com (http://www.cfbstats.com/2013/leader/national/team/defense/split01/category20/sort01.html) they were number 1 in least sacks allowed in 2012 and number 6 in 2013. We had big, seasoned O-linemen with chemistry. D Thompson was good by UNT standards but he wasn't some elite world class QB. I watched almost all of his games from the day I set foot at UNT and he missed a lot of short passes or put our guys in bad positions to catch passes (high throws leaving guys open to get leveled) even in 2013. Don't attribute the success of our O-line solely to Thompson. It's a mutual relationship between QB, O-Line and RB and I believe the O-Line is actually what made Thompson and our RBs what they were back in 2013. Put that O-Line with who we have now and we are running for 250+ yards per game as a team.

Free tickets and parking to the first 10,000 who show up. Period. Movie theaters don't make most of their money from ticket sales, they make them from the concession stands. Get people in the stadium and hope they buy enough food/drinks to make up for the ticket sales. If anything, you at least had a better showing and game-day atmosphere for the graduating seniors.

Not many of his new jobs have really been promotions from the one(s) held before. For example, he was with the Saints for a year to then go to Louisville as defensive coordinator to then be a defensive backs coach at Texas. Defensive backs coach with the Titans to then be U Minnesota's DC for a year. It's a lot of hopping around. We want somebody to view us a stepping stone, but it doesn't look like he's ever really used any program as a stepping stone. In addition, he has a 23-12 HC record. Pretty good! But most of that is in the FCS. I feel like he doesn't have enough HC experience to make that even worth mentioning and this year marks the first time he has been HC at a program for 2 consecutive years...

Although I am most intrigued by the positives Briles offers, I think Mike Norvell would be the best hire. Norvell has the best experience of the two having coached at Central Arkansas, Tulsa, and Pitt. Briles coming here would be the first time he doesn't have his dad around in the coaching world, almost like a kid moving to college after high school. It's a big change.

Excuse me if this has already been answered, but in his 30 years of coaching, why hasn't Chico been given a chance at HC job somewhere? I am really trying to find reasons to like him as our next HC but I just can't agree with the move if it were to happen. If he were that good, he would be somewhere else by now. This is a response to all of those saying give him a shot. Unless we win out the rest of the year (except the Tennessee game) I just don't see a reason why you give him a chance at HC.

Although I do fully respect those who donated to the campaign and fully support the initiative, I just don't think holding $2,000 until RV is fired will make those in charge think to buyout RV's contract at $300k per year for $2k. It is a great idea though. Maybe start a fund with those $2,000 dedicated to hostage money.Throughout the course of the year, it may actually become a substantial amount of money and have some power.

Not sending in an offer guarantees not getting a commitment. Mike Muhney is a business man and visited one of my classes at UNT two years ago. His favorite quote is as follows: "Every attempt does not produce a hit, and every hit does not produce a home run. But every home run is the result of both an attempt and a hit." We need to throw offers at almost every p5 prospect in the area. If one accepts, then great! If none accept, then you have the same result you would have had had you not offered.

What I hear he said years back was probably true so why are we so offended at the though of him coming back? If we fire RV, we might have a chance at landing him. He knows texas and knows UNT. It might not be the worst idea to bring him in it he'll have us...

there is a difference between an upset and G5s consistently competing with P5s now.

It seems like every week it's not uncommon to see a P5 school "upset" by a G5. Purdue lost to Marshall. Southern Miss played Nebraska fairly tough. Western Kentucky beat Vanderbilt and almost beat Indiana. La Tech is currently up 14-0 to Miss. St. in Starkville, MS. AAC teams are getting really good. Toledo beat Arkansas. NIU played Ohio State very tough losing 20-13. Is the gap closing? And if so, is this the time to see a UNT program truly make a turnaround? Not just for UNT's standards but on the national level. Thoughts on the gap between G5 and P5? Will it continue? Do we have a chance to join in the La Tech, Houston, Western Kentucky, Memphis, Marshall, and others? If we don't do it now, will it only get tougher from here?

I noticed that last part too. They looked extremely discouraged. Almost like they were just going through the motions.

I was just about to say, at this rate we're going to be getting calls from low-tier FBS programs and FCS programs looking to schedule their homecoming games. HA!

I respectfully disagree. I think people were harder on mini because he had been the starter since middle of last year and with the team for 4-5 years. You expect a guy like that to make good decisions, be in sync with receivers, and just make overall good throws. He threw wobbly inaccurate ducks and that's the cause for a lot of his drops. Smith threw a few inaccurate balls, but his drops had zip. This was his first career D1 start if I'm not mistaken. Cut the guy some slack and enjoy the 4 TD passes.

With the season lost, I love that these young guys are getting playing time and lots of it. Next year when we get kenny buyers back, this young secondary can be very good with proper coaching. This is what we've been asking for - bleed for the year in hopes of developing our young players for the next 2 or 3 years.

I was thinking the same thing during the game. I didn't expect us to be down 21-0 so quickly so I knew then my prediction wouldn't happen.
