  1. Did same thing for release on McCarney hire: http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/113010aac.html And same for Dodge hire: http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/121206aab.html
  2. Fantastic gif, -- just add some popcorn flowing out of the horse's mouth and you've got it. But as if the Horse's Mouth would ever say anything...
  3. A question...why would a UNT official tell the outgoing seniors that they'd announce a new head coach? What do the seniors care?
  4. I think one reason the story about the Mean Green's conception continues to not be corrected is because the false story sounds better and cooler than the actual story. A fan or casual watcher probably considers that to be pretty awesome to be named after Mean Joe Greene -- even if it is false. But, some responsibility also lies with the announcers and the producer for not fact checking enough. If you're going to have a graphic explaining the nickname, you'd figure you would have done a bit of thorough research.
  5. Cover so many different sports? Vito shows up to about five or so games that are not football, men's or non-conference women's basketball a year. Sure, he writes profile pieces about soccer and volleyball and softball. But -- he does that just by going to a practice or two a season and asking generic, close-ended questions. And, FWIW, Sidway does earn a salary from the Daily.
  6. The PxP guy did a good job of following the action -- could've used more descriptors of where the ball is, but I understand the frenzy of just trying to keep track of who has the ball. The color guy WAYYYY overstepped his boundaries. If I were the PxP, I would've been pissed at him for yelling like a maniac during the play. Also, the mixing was pretty poor. The PxP guy sounded like he was trying not to scream, like he knew couldn't reach past a certain level because it would start peaking.
  7. There was a freshman orientation at Apogee last night. The second night of orientation they will take the freshmen over to Apogee to get the big pep talk from RV and Mac.
  8. Yes, the softball team beat Baylor in Waco at the Baylor Tournament. Baylor plays in Denton in about a month. Last season, North Texas played a game at Baylor towards the end of the season. In 2013 - a doubleheader in Denton. In 2012 - North Texas played at the Baylor tournament, and then played at Baylor in another non-conference game. In 2011 - a doubleheader in Denton. In 2010 - a doubleheader in Waco. In 2009 - a doubleheader in Denton. We've probably played Baylor more than any other non-con opponent in the last six seasons.
  9. But, take the percentages. If 7-8,000 of SMU students live on campus that's 63-73% (based on 2012 enrollment of 10,893) If 7-8,000 of TCU students live on campus that's 70-80% (based on 2014 enrollment of 10,033) Take that against UNT's total enrollment of 36,000 and that means that 19-22% of our students that live on campus So, how does this take away the notion of being a commuter school?
  10. Last season Coach Kee caught her pitchers a lot just to see how they threw. Looks like she's keeping it going.
  11. In post-game, coach Benford says DeAndre should be fine. Saw DeAndre walking out the Pit -- he said he was okay. He had some pain in his back when he slipped and bit his lip, too. He was walking normally. Benford says Seahawks are still going to win tomorrow. DeAndre says Seahawks. Lockeroom divided.
  12. The athletic department has been thinking and discussing this. I know a lot of people inquired about applying for the job today and some already had. There will not be an announcement until after George has been given a chance to say good-bye. I wouldn't expect anything until after the basketball is over.
  13. Just a programming note: Men's game is only on KHYI 95.3. Coverage starts at 5:45 Denton time. Women's game is on KNTU 88.1 Coverage starts at 6:45.
  14. Babe confirmed he will still be on the Cowboys calls with Brad Sham.
  15. Bill was on the ESPN station in Waco earlier this week as well. Here's the interview: http://stationcaster.com/stations/krzi/media/mpeg/Bill_Mercer_1_6_14-1420587808.mp3
  16. Oh, trust me we're still around. Women's game started at 7:45. Decided to not carry the men's game for an hour, then force everyone to switch over to KHYI. This will happen a lot this season because of the schedule moving women's conference games to Thursday and Saturday (was Wednesday and Sunday most of the time last season). So, if you don't hear the men's game on KNTU -- it will be on KHYI. Since the women's games are only on KNTU, we kind of are forced to broadcast them in the event of a conflict.
  17. RB Xavier Scott is a junior right now. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2560709/xavier-scotthttp://www.hudl.com/athlete/2560709/xavier-scott His Hudl account says he runs a 4.6 40, but man is he difficult to bring down. He rushed for almost 2,000 yards this season.
  18. Yeah, it should be announced next Monday (Nov. 17th).
  19. The athletic department mounts a camera on it and flies it around. Basically if it captures any cool shots those could be used in highlight packages, Beyond the Green, etc. video projects.
  20. My roommate just suggest Dajonny Football.
  21. Hank brought Tony by KNTU. Apparently Tony is interested in the RTVF program.
  22. In DFW the game will be on TXA-21. It's from the new American Sports Network, which is owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group. You can see their list of affiliates here: http://www.sbgi.net/business/television.shtml But, keep in mind this is a syndicated broadcast, so it could get picked up by whoever wants it, really. Last week ASN did the UTEP game and it was picked by the New England Sports Network.
  23. I've talked to him twice and he definitely has his head on straight. Answers every question with "Yes sir". During fall camp I asked him if he thought he was the best quarterback, and he was very humble, saying that was up to the coaches to decide.
