  1. I doubt anyone gets drafted. Keena may have the best shot based on performance. James Gray and Chad Davis had very average years and their senior season won't impress any scouts. They are both hurt, so they will have time to heal, but they will need to impress at pro day. It would not surprise me if they are healthy that they impress during pro day with their athleticism. Another sleeper may be Schilleci. Many undrafted FAs are on the team for backup roles and to play special teams. Schilleci has become our all around special teams player over the years. Before someone blows this off, Jamal Marshall was also one and he got a look. If Schilleci looks good in drills and workouts, and he runs a low 4.5 40, he could get an invite to a rookie camp.
  2. They are building another school in Fort Bend so it won't take away from Fort Bend schools. It will take away from Fort Bend Ridge point since they are supposed to build it in Sienna Plantation. Fort bend likes to keep their schools at around 2000 kids. I guess they have their reasons, but it's not really good for athletic purposes if you want to compete with the rest of these top texas high schools. Hightower and Marshall still seem to be one of the tops in the area as far as D1 athletes, even being under 3000 students.
  3. No to Katy. Many more school in greater Houston area schools with D1 talent. Manvel, Alief Taylor, and North Shore are probably the biggest in the area. Katy would be probably in the 15-20 range just in the Houston Area if u had to guess.
  4. Like the Army unis...surprised the flag is gray instead of red, white, and blue.
  5. I don't think that will beat us. They don't have an Aaron Jones, so I guess they may as well.
  6. FB dive up the middle isn't that explosive. I hope they continue to do that. If they want to get better results, I would mix in a faster, quicker back and attack the middle. That would give them a better chance for big plays.
  7. If I had to guess, Army will look at the UTEP game and tweak their gameplan. Trying to get to the outside is playing to our strength. Army may come in and try to just punch us in the mouth this time. Nothing fancy...see if we can go toe to toe with them.
  8. Navy getting whipped 21-0...Looks like WMU will be in cotton bowl.
  9. This would be the closest UNT would have an opportunity to play a ranked team at home. I will believe it when I see it, but how could anyone not want a shot to knock off an undefeated ranked opponent. Home crowd, 3 weeks to prepare instead of a bodybag situation. Beating an undefeated WMU would be a program defining win. Of course some will say they were Imposters and didn't deserve the ranking and all, but who cares. UNT would make history. A 6-7 season ending with a win over WMU would probably get more run and buzz than the 9-4 season.
  10. We needed legit DTs for this game. We should have used Hood and saw what has slowed them down in the past and tried our best to duplicate it. The scheme was just horrible. At times we had 5 players lined up, But they weren't linemen.
  11. UTEP went heavy on us and came with double TEs. I'm not a DL guru or anything, but I do know that 3 down linemen are no match for even an average 7 man line. It MIGHT work if you have 4 all world LBs. With 3 vs 7, you just have way to many free blockers getting to the next level. 3 vs 7 is a coaching issue and doomed even on paper. Just a horrible game plan to begin with.
  12. So miss had a good day on defense. LaTech got a late garbage time TD to make the game closer. Mullens had a great day like the defense did, so that's why it was such a big margin. Another latech TD came off of a fumble return. So Miss shut them down. Higgins for latech was 22 for 39 for 246 no TDS and 3 picks.
  13. It depends on the situation. The things you see reported with teams are probably about 25% of the bad stuff that actually happens. There's a whole lot more incidents that don't go public. As far as weed, I would assume that half the team smokes. Some are smart and do it in the offseason. I'm sure there are several weed cases with this team and all college football teams. Teams do their own testing and usually know all the weed smokers before the ncaa comes. Same with NFL. If a player is suspended for drugs, he has most likely failed several drug tests and been given several chances. Rarely is it just a first time offense, and that is why there is no mercy when there is a suspension. If these guys were suspended for weed, it would not be for a first time offense. We would barely have a team if that were the case. It would be for multiple violations or doing something real reckless like something that would get the attention of the authorities and the media. Failing a team drug test would be considered minor. Failing an ncaa test is major. Getting busted on campus in the dorms by a coach may be considered minor. Getting caugh on an airplane traveling with the team would be major. Just examples.
  14. I wouldn't expect to see them play for UNT again. Robinson was a walk on and I'm pretty sure he was close to getting a scholarship since he was starting. That may be done now. Goree was a big recruit, so he may get a team to give him a scholarship and transfer. I am just speculating and not going on any facts. I am just assuming players are going to figure it's time to change scenery if the coaches are that pissed at you.
  15. They have passports. Started working on getting them early in the season. This team was preparing to go bowling very early. Some say it was coachspeak. Maybe it was, but they ready to make the trip.
  16. Sounds like it may just be a slight tear in the meniscus if he may come back in a few weeks. A complete tear of anything in the knee would be almost impossible to back from. I think we may have 1 or 2 players already playing on slightly torn meniscus. They trim it and they have to deal with the swelling and play through the pain. Some get shots on game day. Considering backs do a lot of cutting, it makes it a lot harder.
  17. I would have Fine go in motion in the jet sweep and take the handoff like a jet sweep for a WR. He is definitely fast enough to get to the outside and should not get dropped behind the line. If the run is there he runs it. If they are biting too hard on the run, the pass should be open. At minimum a 1 on 1 matchup.
  18. Considering SMU is an opponent and a local competitor for recruits, this could be big. I personally wasn't impressed with Morris. There may be several coaches without jobs in a few weeks that are better than Morris.
  19. I would like to see us try some jet sweep passes with Fine. It would create lots of problems on the outside.
  20. No need to bring up brooks and wku and la tech anymore. Article should just concentrate on his big accomplishment.
  21. There's other shortfalls of the coaching staff too. I'm not trying to bash them. They are learning as they go and trying to figure things out. In a few years they may be ready to move on, but they are not there yet. I pay a lot of attention to the DBs. They have done a decent job with the DBs, but this was a veteran group that was supposed to be a strength of the team this year. They have looked good versus bad teams, but looked overmatched against good QBs. We have a dramatic improvement in interceptions this season due to just a change in defensive scheme. But we could have even more interceptions with a simple basic technique change. Our DBs are not looking back for the ball. They are all doing it, so that leads me to believe it is coaching. I have seen the drills where when the DB is beat and you are chasing a WR, you play the man and when the ball drops in there, you try to time it right and you rip the ball out or an arm away. This technique is good for when you are beat and you cannot make a play on the ball. Many times our DBs are in perfect position, and we are still using this technique and don't make a play on the ball. If you have good position, you should turn your head around and locate the ball. That is why we get so many PI penalties. Dbs shouldnt be running stride for stride and staring the WR in the face past 20 yards.
  22. Littrell has done a good job. I think some may be overrating these coaches performances to some extent because of how bad the previous coaches were. McNulty, DBs playing 10 yards off, conservative play calling, etc. Some keep harping on the 1-11 and the talent. I stated several times in the offseason, this team had more talent than a 1-11 team. Maybe about 4-8, but not 1-11. Its not a surprise to me that the defense is doing well at times. We brought a lot of players back from last year. One big difference is a change almost everyone on this board wanted to see and that was DBs with tighter coverage. Its not a great coaching move. Its just common sense. Lets also remember Littrell was brought here for offense. Until that is up and running like it's supposed to and the recruiting is where it's supposed to be, lets not get carried away. Back to the talent...Yes were were 1-11 last year, but every team we beat this year, we had more talent overall. Theres a few players I wouldn't mind having from some of those teams, but as a whole we had more talent. And we also lost 2 games to teams that we had similar talent to with UTSA and SMU. IMO the mark of a good coach is getting more out of his players and beating teams with more talent. That is coaching. So far, Littrell is doing his job and doing what he is supposed to do. Compared to Mac and staff, Littrell deserves his props, but that's about it for now.
  23. What's not being mentioned in houston's losses were some key players missing. I guess they still should have beaten SMU though. They recently got everyone back. SMU may get bowl eligible and the loss may not look as bad as it did when it happened.
