  1. I have a question regarding spring football practice and the early summer/fall 2 adays. How many practice days/hours are allowed for the spring ? How many practice days/hours are allowed for the summer 2 adays? Does the NCAA limit the number of practice hours per practice per day? Thanks- Charlie
  2. I have to admit, I am a football junkie. I follow college ball first, then high school, followed by the pros. I will try to watch as many games as I can get away with. I really enjoy the fall season- football, deer hunting, holidays, cool weather! Since NT is done, and the Cowboys are basicly done also, hunting seson is done, whats left-- I am really looking forward to our recruiting--the 4 weeks of January are going to be fun to watch- Signing day, just like Christmas morning--Wow! I am expecting some big surpries with several top ranked players coming to NT. Spring ball, when ever that will be--will be exciting also. To see DodgeBall in action! Wow! I can see the NT fans packing the stadium for the spring game! Now if I can just make to July, and see DCTF on the shelf !! I know the excitment of NT football is just around the corner!
  3. I would keep Foster, Banks, Baily and Santiago at the guard positions. ( How is Josh Alexander doing- did't he have off season surgery? Was't Alexander at OT ?) Brown, Menard, Peachy, Eidd, Crumes at the tackle positions. (Eidd could play both G and T) Drake , Rose, and Glass at center. I would move Venegas and Carlson to the defense.
  4. Harry-thanks for the player updates. These are some good players. I forgot about Gilmore so I hope he can come back. He could really help our defense, either at DE or LB. I guess we will have to wait and see what type of defensive alignment Coach Dodge will use, (3-4 or 4-3) before we can plug in the players to fit the puzzle. Several players listed are just a few biscuits shy from being in the 280-290lb range. The off season will be very interesting to see how they develop. I am gun shy about the DT position because I keep having flash backs about how many of the games NT lost in the final 2 minutes, by teams running up the middle on our defense. I remember what Coach Corky Nelson would ask Santa for, " Two big Defensive Tackles". Hopefully we have one or two DT's in the cubboard now!
  5. I would like to see Wilson play 2 positions, QB and WR. This guy has speed and quickness, and is a real threat in the open field. Coach Dodge likes mis-matches against defensive players. Wilson would certainly be a mis-match against any LB,Corner, or Safety. Add in his passing skills, and you have a WR that can pass the ball too. Wilson needs to be on the field!
  6. SilverEagle, I read a GMG posting a while back, that stated Santiago was moved to the OL. He may very well stay at DT as far as I know. I am just reviewing the roster off the MeanGreenSports.com. As far as DT/NT's, the roster lists Joseph Miller, So, 6-3, 275lbs at NT, Kendrick Ridge, Fr, 6-1, 275lbs at DT, and Isaac Thomas, So, 5-11, 289lbs at NT. Yes, the team needs some big DT's and NT's. Maybe Jr college recruits that can step in next season. Again, big OL and DL prospects are a must! Do not forget about Montey Stevenson, 6-2, 290lbs, Jr, listed as a DE. I watched him play this past season, drew alot of double teams. I am really looking forward to Joseph Miller's development in the off season. I beleive this guy can be a great DT, along with Stevenson. I have not heard of Kenneth Okonkwo. The MGS roster, seems to have no updated/accurate info I know Coach Dodge will evaluate all the current players, determine where the players will fit into his system, and make position changes. I am sure he has some OL and DL prospects that he will recruit.
  7. Harry- I agree with you about the weight room and training. Championships begin with proper training and conditioning. I like OT's to be tall, and with long arms. I am looking forward to the development of these 4 guys at OT: Matthew Menard, 6-5, 275lbs; Robert Peachy, 6-5, 279lbs; Esteban Santiago, 6-5, 279lbs; Jack Crumes, 6-4, 266lbs. All 4 are freshmen/redshirts. I beleive Peachy was part of the "Green Team" and gained valuable game experience. I beleive all 4 will fit into the spread offense and develop into quality OT's that can protect our QB. I hope Coach Dodge can recruit several OT's and OG's that will fit his offense.
  8. I was reviewing the current roster at MeanGreenSports.com, and counted 15 OL players. 10 are Fr, 1-So, 4-Jr's. Good size kids! There are 5 that go 6-5, and 6 that are 6-3. I beleive big OL players are a priority any time you can get them. I would like to see at least 4 big OL guys added this recruiting season. How many OL players do you think we need? Any prospects that you know of ?
  9. I thought the CM offensive line and defensive line were big and strong- took control of the game. Marks did not have alot of time to pass with the Chippewas pass rush-same for the running game- seems like the "holes" were closing to fast. I thought the CM Chippewas looked more like a Big 10 team. I though MTSU did put up a good fight and represent the Sunbelt well. Looked like there were alot of muts fans that made the trip.
  10. I was watching the game, so I saw Riley blow beads! I could not beleive what I saw, then, he calmly throws a touchdown pass. WOW! Was that Riley on the sideline by the Gatorade cooler that spued ? Man-this kid is tough as a 50 cent steak! I want him at NT!!
  11. Yes- Riley Dodge will be a good fit for NT at QB! Along with Tre Newton at RB ! Yes- I want both of these guy's for the '08 class! Question-- since a coach is only allow a limited number of contacts to a prospective recruit, how can Coach Dodge legally recruit his own son, since they live together under one roof ? I wonder how the NCAA will view this situation? I read something the other day, where Riley asked his dad for some money to pick up dinner- Dad said something to the effect, I can't do that anymore, you have to start asking your mom for money from now on. You can take it to the bank that Coach Dodge will have someone on his staff recruit Riley and Tre!
  12. I am from Bonham Texas-- the Darwin's are my cousins. Jeff is the youngest brother. Charlie
  13. I hope the muts win--Good for the Sunbelt! Good for NT! How many teams on the '07 schedule will be bowl teams? Oklahoma, Arkansas, Troy, and the muts--am I missing any other teams? I watched the NO Bowl--Wow! That Troy defense was great! Destroyed the Rice spread offense- I noticed the Central Michigan Chippewas roster has 4 Texas players, all from the DFW metroplex. Duane Brooks,QB,Irving MacArthur;Arron Carr,DB,Arlington Bowie;Barron Miles,DB,Desoto;and Chris Morris,WR,Plano East--all 4 are Freshmen. Maybe some of the top DFW players may not be leaving the great state of Texas now that Coach Dodge is in charge!
  14. Starting to heat up--just wait-- we will have a 911 fire going soon! Any news on assistant coaches? Names-candidates?
  15. I was surfing the internet, looked up Southlake Carroll Dragons, ( on google) and up pops 7 new news stories on SLC game Sat, plus a Ft Wayne IN story on Riley Dodge being named the Texas 5A Offensive Player of the Year I am sure how to transfer the stories to GMG, or I would have completed the task- Can any GMG computer guru's check out the stories and post the stories on GMG?
  16. Hey future NT Baseball fans- there are a couple of guys right in our backyard that know a thing or two about baseball- Danny Darwin, lives up in Valley View, TX, is now a AA team manager in the Dogers organization. Kevin Darwin, lives in the Gainesville TX area, (Danny's brother) won a national JR college championship at Cook county JR college. Was head coach for 3-4 years, and always had winning records and teams. Jeff Darwin--I beleive lives in Denton, played in the minor league system, but shoulder injury ended his career chances.
  17. I was looking at the 2006 roster on MeanGreenSports.com. I was interseted in the TE's, and how they fit into Dodgeball. Here are the TE's listed, and some comments: Charlie Brown, So, 6-4, 239lbs, Question for Mean Green Pop--how is Charlie recoving from his surgery, and will he receive a medical redshirt year? Get the ball to Charlie and he will do the rest! Priceless! David Collins, Fr, 6-4, 220lbs, Is this guy a Micheal Irvin clone or what? Lots of speed, great hands Bryant Seidle, Fr, 6-3, 230lbs, played as true freshman, got some catches! Victor Gill, Fr, 6-5, 235lbs, I beleive he was a redshirt, looked good last spring. I can see all 4 of these guys changing to WR, and playing in TD's spread offense. All 4 are tall, big targets, have good speed for big guys. How would you like to be a 5-10 corner trying to cover one of these guys? I do beleive TD can find a way to take advantage of the mis-matches our TE's can create! Dodge Ball cannot get here fast enough!
  18. Sorry- My screw up- Yes, I mean Troy. I was thinking how much I dislike the muts.
  19. Star recruits-- Well, remember that all the so called recruiting experts, web sites, and football guru's will always change the ratings on a player if the player picks NT. If the kid signs with someone like T. Tech, he will be a 4 star. If the same kid signs with NT, then he will become a 2 star. I will let TD choose his own players. They will all be 5 star players in my book!
  20. The New Orleans Bowl is around the corner- Which team do you pick to win? I like for any Sunbelt team to win any OOC game, but since it is the muts, I say Rice by 17.
  21. Simple answer- I play to win, score every way I can think of, kick the crap out of 'em, stop their offense! IMO, there are great players on this team now, and these players can win! As bad as the '05 and '06 seasons were, these kids never gave up, played 110%, and played with alot of guts and heart! Hell, look at the LSU game. That bunch was moving the ball on the Tigers! I saw several good drives against good teams, then seems like everything would go to crap and fall apart! I beleive that TD will teach and develop each and everyone of the current players into his system, and the kids will know they CAN BEAT ANYBODY they play !
  22. Eddrick Gilmore was listed as 6-5, 250lbs. What if he shows up at 280-300lbs-- do you keep him at DE/LB ? Esteban Santiago was listed at 6-5, 275lbs. Was a HM all-state at OT and DT in HS. Came into NT to play DT. I thought OT was a better fit for him. Another player that came in with Santiago was from Houston, Menard Matthew, 6-5, 275lbs, was a DT in HS, then was switched to OT during 2 adays last summer. Any updates on Josh Alexander, the OT that got hurt, then had surgery? Charlie
  23. Recruiting questions- Last year, I believe NT signed 18 players. How many can NT sign for the '07 class ? If NT can sign 24 players, how would you breakdown the number of players for each position? Here is my breakdown: QB--- 1 RB--- 2 OG/OT--- 5 DT/NT-- 5 WR--- 4 LB---- 2 C/S-- 5 P/PK -- 0 As far as I know, we might get 20 WR's and 4 QB's. Who knows ? My gut feeling is the '07 class will be a great class with several big surprizes! Charlie
  24. The last line of this article is very interesting, "George has started contacting recruits for North Texas". Since Coach George has just left Haltom, how could he already have a list of recruits to contact now ? Looks like Coach Dodge has put together a list of targeted recruits, and has directed his first assisant coach to start contacting the recruits. I read this as a recruiting plan is in place, with "targeted" recruits to go after. As each new assistant coach comes on board, they will be also directed to recruit key players. I wonder how many kids are on the list now? I bet the Mean Green Nation would be extremely happy with the number, and the quality of players, that will be contacted. I wonder if Coach Dodge will announce his commitments as the players come on board ? I sure hope so! Charlie
  25. I beleive all the "home" games will be a sell out, SRO in the end zones and parking lots- with out any type of sales promtions. There will be MG fans traveling from all 4 corners of the world, that will continue to support the Mean Green, win or lose. The fire has been lit! I beleive there will be media feeding frenzie-Local, State, and National! Get ready to rock the house! The Mean Green Nation is pure Greatness!!
