  1. The "walk on" program -- Exactly how does this program work? My understanding is a preferred walk on was invited to NT last year, and is in school now, or as a high school senior, planing to enroll at NT in the fall, can be invited as a preferred walk on. Current students enrolled at NT, I beleive must interview with the coaches first, and if approved can try out in the spring as a walk on. I am just trying to figure this out the chain of command for "preferred walk on" and regular "walk on" .
  2. I think NT has a very good chance at Riley Dodge in 2008. I am sure every college football coach in America would want Riley. I am sure there will be many offers for Riley. I beleive Coach Dodge, as a father, will let Riley choose his own school. As far as NT recruiting, I beleive NT can compete with any college in America, for any student athlete in any sport! NT's recruiting efforts have always faced negative views, so change the views into positive views, see the school and the degree progams, student life, --I could go on and on. I know there have been student athletes that came to NT while offers from other major colleges were on the table.
  3. The reason I even mention Texas Stadium was if NT could get one one the big boys to play us, but required 50K + seating to make the deal, would NT consider this option? I agree, all games need to played at Fouts! Game day experience is blast! I will have friends from out of state coming to Denton for the Navy game. They are all NT alums that have never been to a NT game in 3-4 years. I know the game day experience will blow them away!
  4. There are 2 other guys to consider at WR- Robert Gordon, from Ardmore OK, listed at DB. This guy was a state chamion on his HS track team--I forgot which track event. Has alot of speed. Listed at 5-10, 175lbs, I beleive he was a red shirt last year. Also, Desmon Chatman from Conroe. 6-2, 187lbs, listed as a DB. Tall and real fast. I beleive he was a red shirt last year also. One last note, regarding Sam Roberson, 6-4, 210lbs, WR recruit. This guy played CB in HS too. Remember Coach Dodge stated, "Can you imagine a 6-4 corner?" I wonder if Coach Dodge was hinting at a position change for Sam? I hope Coach dodge will keep Sam at WR.
  5. I remember the big boys would come to Texas Stadium but not come to Fouts/Denton. Texas M&A came to Texas Stadium, as well as Okie State, Houston, and Army. Could NT schedule the big boys to play at Texas Stadium in the future, or, is playing a game at TS a dead issue?
  6. Collins is gone for the spring? CRAP! Any other MIA's besides Roberson, or is this info confidential?
  7. Last season, most of the passes went to our WR's- Quinn, Muzzy, and Nwigwe, with a run based offense. Our TE's, Harmon, Davidson, Collins, and Seidle received some passes also. Most of the players I listed, did not have much of a chance to play last year, nor did they have very many passes thrown to them. I see several of these players becoming quality receivers and adapting to the spread offense quickly, namely Jackson, Stickler, and Collins. I am sure Coach Dodge and Coach Ford will be evaluating all the current WR's and TE's, to see which players fit the spread offense, and one back sets. Coach Dodge stated "we have quality, not quanity, at WR". The listed players are very good players that never had a chance to play.
  8. I was looking at the 2006 roster at MGS. Here are the 6 WR's listed--1 JR, 3-So's, and 2 Freshmen 1. Brandon Jackson, JR, 6-1, 208lbs 2. Casey Fitzgerald, SO, 5-11, 174lbs 3. Brock Stickler, SO,6-3, 219lbs 4. Isiah Smith, SO, 5-8, 175lbs 5. Arthur Stubblefield, FR, 5-10,179lbs 6. Korey Washington, FR, 5-10, 186lbs. This is a good group of WR's to start with. I have always liked Jackson and Stickler, so I am excited to see how they will work into the spread. I also want to see how Special K, Korey Washington, can work into slot position. Stubblefield will try WR, but, could be a DB. Did not Casey Fitzgerald made a great TD catch as a "Green Team" member? Coach Dodge stated a WR must make the top 8 depth chart to play. Now add in the 6 incoming WR recruits, that makes 12 players at WR. The top 8 play. Who will play in 2007?
  9. I agree with FFR, play with confidence! Coach Dodge will develop confidence in his team! All of the past "big" games were alot more fun when NT would win. So, lets prepare for Oklahoma! Coach Dodge has 15 practice sessions for spring practice, to install the spread with the current players. Can he and his staff accomplish this goal? Next, the fall practice, 2 a days, and the new recruits comming in. Will this team be ready for Oklahoma? I fully beleive Coach Dodge will have his team ready! This team will beleive in themselves!
  10. I know "Meangreen Pop" son is the great TE, Charlie Brown- Are there any other GMG members that have a son or daughter that plays on any of the NT athletic teams? Please post up your reply- For Meangreen Pop, I remember that you said Charlie is over his surgery, working out, getting bigger and faster, and that he is starting to scare the heck out of you! How does Charlie see his role for Coach Dodge's spread offense? I would like to hear the lastest news! Also, how is son # 2 doing? Any chance he might consider transfering to NT now? Thanks-
  11. I voted to beat the Phonies, get the NO bowl--or --a better bowl game, win a bowl win. No need in beating a dead horse again with a Smuts rematch. I would like for the team to knock off one or more of the OOC big boys. Hey, Stoops is closing the Oklahoma spring practice to the public. They are finding a new QB for their team. Maybe Stoops has some concerns about his team and the effects of the Bosie State game.
  12. How to fix this- First, do not play the video-I am trying to forget this game. I really do not think any team could have played well against this Texas team and their NFL players on this day! Second, change your offense from a running game that any team in America could defend, into a quick strike spread offense that will stop the stacked lines and the multiple blitz packages. Third, develop confidence and a will to win attitude with the players. Look at Bosie State against Oklahoma, take about confidence! Last point, recruit kids that fit your offense and defense, and give the kids time to grow into your system.
  13. Are the spring practice dates finalized? I read a GMG post stating Mach 21-April-?? There was a post regarding ,what was it, 34 days to complete 15 practice's, is this correct? Does this mean there can only be a total of 15 days of actual practice on the field? Are there time limits on each day of practice? I hope there will be a schedule with dates and times, because I would like to see a few of the workouts. Will the sechedule be made available?
  14. I was reading the player bios from MGS, and compairing Vizza's pass attempts-completions, yards and touchdowns. Vizza had 218/357 for 3278yds and 37 TD's, in 2006. Looks like Sam Dibrell was his # 1 WR. Dibrell had 92 receptions for 1556yds and 20 TD's in 2006 The numbers say close to 50% of Vizza passes went to Dibrell! Over 50% of Vizza's TD passes were caught by Dibrell! I do beleive these 2 future NT players are on the same page!
  15. By all means, YES! I suggest the dancers sit near the recruits that are visiting NT!
  16. Last season, all of our QB's were running for their lives, with missed blocking assignments, biltz's, and open gate blocking. Also, how many times did Jamario get hit just as he received the hand off from the QB! Here are my points- Our O-line needs some help! I am very happy to have Spencer Leftwich back as the O-line coach. I really beleive Coach Leftwich will vastly improve the o-line players, playing skills, and level of play, then - Add in Coach Todd Ford, offensive coordinator, teaching, coaching, and directing the offense, the entire offensive team will be successful! This is where my QB choice, Woody Wilson, will excell. Give Woody some time, some room, or any opportunity, he will make things happen! Same for Jamario, Cam, and for our WR's! I beleive Coach Dodge and his staff will have the offense rolling faster that most think!
  17. I beleive our defense will be much improved and stronger. Both starting DE's return, Chapman and Burruss, along with back ups Montey Stevenson and Tye Rexrode. LB's will have 2 reg starters and several back up's that played alot last year. Corners will be a stronger, because the corners were freshmen and gained good experience. Several good Corners will be available comming off redshirt year. DT is thin, but, Joseph Miller and Isaac Thomas will be back, redshirt DT Kendrick Ridge will be in the mix. New recruit, DT Jesse Desoto is raw, but, has the tools to play this year. I beleive our new defensive coaches will improve the players skills and the entire defensive system and game plans this upcoming season.
  18. I was reviewing our current d-line players from the MeanGreenSports.com roster. ( I wish MGS could keep accurate information on the players height/weight updated ) Anyway, I see there are many D-Ends as per DD style. I wonder if any of the current d-ends could change to NT or DT? I hope DE Eddie Gilmore can come back this fall. What if he shows up at 290lbs? Could he play DT? Could Blake Burruss at 6-7,play DT? I like Joseph Miller at DT. MGS has listed his weight at 275 since he came to NT, so what is his correct weight? DE Montey Stevenson is 6-2,290, drew double teams last year, could he move to NT? Tye Rexode looks like a possible NT candidate also. Draylen Ross looks like he could develope into a DT too. What do you think?
  19. 3 points- 1. Jamario did not have very good blocking last year, because teams stacked the box , blitzed, and would key on him. He did not have much of a chance at times. This year will be totally different because Coach Dodge will be able to use Jarario many different ways in the run and passing game. I look for a big year for Jamario. 2. I am very happy to see Coach K back at as the o-line coach. The o-line just improved 100 %. Coach K will be able to get Jamario some room to run! 3. Our o-line is young, except for OT-Brown and OT-Venegas. We have some big guys at OG and OT: Peachy,OT,6-5,275lbs;Foster,OG,6-3,340;Banks,OG,6-3,328;Menard,6-5,275;Eidd,OT, 6-3 306; Alexander,6-3,289 will be back; I am sure these guys have been working out and have gained strength and weight. I see the o-line developing this year. Yes, Jamario will have a great year--along with Cam Montgomery. Just take a look at some of Cam's highlight videos--WOW. I see Coach Dodge using both Jamario and Cam, both on the field at the same time, creating more offensive opportunities, and more worries for defensive coordinators.
  20. Coach Dodge told all the new NT players to "come prepaired to start" and Coach Dodge told all the current players that "all positions are open". The best player at their position will play regardless if the player is a freshman or senior. I beleive all 6 incoming WR's will play for sure. Others- I am interested in Jesse Desoto, DT, 6-2, 278lbs, who was a 3 year starter at DT in HS. Big kid, strong, team leader, and has a intense "football motor" from what I have read about him. I beleive he will earn playing time. The LB's are very good, but, I would like for the LB's to become adjusted to the college level speed and experience. The same for the great DB, Kelvin Ealey. RB's-- Cam Montgomery is going to surprise everyone--this guy is a great player! He will play for sure! Micah Mosley will play also. QB Giovanni Vizza, possible--just out of HS, completes 2 a days, then start against OU--I don't think so. I see all the WR's, both RB's, and DT earning playing time.
  21. The DaMN top 100 list never compares to the Fort Worth Star Telegram's top 100. The DaMN beleives their sports writers have picked the very best players, so the DaMN will print only players signed off THEIR top 100. Do you think the DaMN will print the Fort Worth Star Telegram's State top 100 players along with the fact NT signed 4 of these players, or the fact NT signed 6 players from the FWST top 50 Area players? NT signed numerious "All State" players from 5A,4A,and 3A programs-where is the info? Do you think the DaMN will note NT signed 7 players from DCTB top 300? Do you think the DaMN will note that NT signed 4 players off the Texas Sports Writer's Association top 100? Do you think the DaMN will note NT signed 2 Houston Chronical Top 100 players? Why does the DaMN rate Sam Roberson as a "sleeper"--because he was recruited by Alabama, Clemson, Kentucky and other top SEC programs? No, he signed with NT. So do not beleive the DaMN which seems to always find a way to give a negative slant to NT. Even Lucy Mike Duce on the 6 pm news yesterday, had to take a shot. The last recruiting news clip was of course NT. His report was "ok" until his last statement-"this class is only ranked 116 of of 119 schools". He just had to make that crap statement!! See what I mean!
  22. Take another look-- FWST, state top 100, 4 have signed with NT. FWST, area top 50, 6 have signed with NT.
  23. I give Coach Dodge and his staff a solid " A " on this class! All the hard work, research, travel time, visits ( with alot of bad weather), and the short amount of time to focus on recruiting has produced numerious high profile players. All of these players come from winning programs, state championship runs, and quality coaching. All of the players are good students and will have the opportunity to earn their degrees! All of these kids are about to embark on the begining of the Todd Dodge era that will bring success to their careers, education, and to NT athletics! I look for several of the players to have extensive playing time with the 2007 season! I tried to pick out my favorites but I discovered that I like all of these players! Here is a big "Thank You" to Coach Dodge and to the Assistant Coaches! Job well done! As my old Marine DI would say--Outstanding
  24. Sunday's DaMN of Jan 21--Kevin Sherrington's article, "A la Carte", had a nice little note-- quote, "Another resaon Todd Dodge will succeed at North Texas:DISD coaches say they'er seeing UNT assistants on their campuses for the first time in years" Did anyone else see this ? I beleive Todd Dodge is going to own the DFW recruiting pipeline more quickly than I ever thought! Wait until the class of 2008 comes around!
  25. As per the 2006 issue of DCTF, I count 7 players commited to NT: 1. Giovanni Vizza, QB, 6-1, 160lbs, Alamo Heights HS 2. B.J. Lewis, WR, 6-0, 185lbs, Robinson HS 3. Jordan Scoggins, TE/DL, 6-3, 260lbs, Euless Trinity HS 4. Kyle Russo, DL, 6-3, 245lbs, Southlake Carroll HS 5. Justin Padron, LB, 6-0, 215lbs, Southlake Carroll HS 6. Marquise Davis, LB, 6-3, 210lbs, Atlanta HS 7. A.J. Penso, LB, 6-2, 220lbs, Lufkin HS Is this the largest number of DCTB top 300 players to commit to NT ? Would these commitments be a all time record for NT? I read somewhere that Cam Montgomery, RB, hails from Conroe TX. I beleive he was also a top 300 player. If you can, watch some of Cam Montgomery's highlight videos--WOW! FWST, has thier top 100 state players committed to NT- 1. Bron Hager, RB/LB/S, 6-1, 210lbs, austin Westlake 2. Marcus King, WR, 6-3, 205, Euless Trinity HS 3. Jordan Scoggins--see above 4. Justin Prdron--see above NT also has 5 of the FWST Area top 50 players ,Breece Johnson,Marcus King,Evan Walker,Russo and Padron. Knowing the DaMN, there will be some type of crap remark regarding our recruiting success, with their recruiting recap on Thursday. This recruiting class is just the begining of greatness! Thank you Coach Dodge!
