  1. Yes, the Desperados beat NY dragons 60-7. Since we have no NT football for a long time, I will follow the Desperados this year- Yes, the games are fun to watch on TV. I bet they are like ice hockey, better in person!
  2. Great to hear from you! Have you heard any comments from the Arkansas State fans regarding Coach Dodge and the new NT spread offense?
  3. First of all, I am so glad to have Coach Spencer Leftwich back as our O-line coach! Coach Leftwich developed numerious all conference players at NT and Tulsa, and developed the O-line play for Tulsa's "spread offense". On the roster at OT from last year, that can play in 2007: 6-5 Matthew Menard, 275lbs, FR, I do not think he played in any games last year. 6-5 Jeremy Brown, 308lbs, JR, started all games 6-5 Robert Peachy, 275lbs, FR, played on the "Green Team" 6-5 Estaban Santiago, 275lbs, FR, is he a DT or OT, did not play in 2006. 6-4 Jack Crumes, 266lbs, FR, played football sr year in HS, did not play in 2006. Recruit, Matt Tomlinson, listed at 6-6,265lbs on the NT recruiting recap, but, listed at 6-4, 270 in the newspaper recruiting recap. Which is correct? I can see Brown and Peachy as the OT starters because of their game experience. I can also see a possible surprise at OT, Tomlinson, breaking into a backup spot. I sure hope Santiago and Menard have hit the weight room and dining table hard this off season, and have bulked up to the 290+ range. I beleive the OT position will be a real battle in the spring, plus the development of a real 2 deep at both the RT and LT positions.
  4. Did anyone go to the Greater Denton Sports Commission speaker forum program to hear Coach Dodge? Anything from the DRC on the program?
  5. I think this is a good schedule to kick off Dodge Ball! Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Navy will be nationally ranked in 2007. These are quality programs that will play NT! There are more top teams in the future, which NT will play--K State,Miami,Clemson,Air Force! These teams and scheduling are great for NT! How great will it be to knock off one or more of these teams! The Sunbelt may not be the greatest conference right now, but, the SBC is getting better. The Sunbelt has a bowl tie-in, and the last 2 years, 2 SBC teams went to bowl games. So for now, I say keep playing the big boys and knock as many as we can, have a winning program, WIN the SBC, and maybe one day, get a BCS bowl game! If Bosie State can do it, so can NT!
  6. MeangreenPOP- thanks for the update- will charley stay at TE?
  7. That is true, NT fans always will talk about the other teams more than than they talk about us--Unless we beat the crap out of them! Then the game becomes a "fluke", or "NT is a lucky team"-- Have you noticed that anytime we have a game scheduled with one of the big boys, their fans mark the NT game as a automatic win, or view the game as a scrimage! Just wait, all you big boys--NT is coming to town, and you better be ready for some "Dodge Ball" !!
  8. Hey MeangreenPOP- How is Charley doing? I remember you said Charley is getting stronger and bigger to the point that he is scaring you! Any "insider" info you can share? How is son #2 doing? Any chance the #2 son might consider transfering to NT?
  9. I would like the Big 12 become the Big 14, add NT and TCU!
  10. I do not know why Okla will close the spring workouts to the public, then have the spring game on national ESPN coverage. TV money? I guess the Okla coaching staff do not want a debate from their fans as to who the starting QB will be-- This sounds like our situation--who will be our starting QB! As far as NTTV covering the NT spring game, I think this is a good idea. I would prefer that all the NT fans to come to the game, tail gate, and fill up Fouts to show our support!
  11. Well, well, well-- Stoops has all of the Oklahoma spring workouts closed to the public. The spring game will be on TV, national ESPN broadcast. Stoops will be trying to find a QB, with Paul Thompson gone. Their hot shot recruit from MI,Keith Nichol,6-2,180lbs, is rumored to be given the opportunity to earn the starting QB job. They also have R-FR John Ninmo, 6-1,190lbs and FR Sam Bradford,6-5,197lbs, in the mix. Last years back up,Joey Halzue,(sp?),6-3,198lbs is a JR as well as Hays McEachern,5-11, 180lbs--holder for PAT's/FG's. Looks like the Sooners do not want anyone to know whats going on with the QB position, and I am sure the Sooners are still smarting from the loss to Bosie State. Will their new QB give us an advantage? Maybe, but it is still Oklahoma! I beleive Cocah Dodge will have our team ready, and will give Oklahoma more that they think!
  12. I thought Craig Roberstson was going to be a SS? If he can play LB, go for it! I beleive the new LB recruits will be red shirt due to the LB depth. Do not forget Colt Mahan at LB, to go with Tobe Nwigwi. Yes, Marquis Sykes, Draylen Ross, Sam Owusu-Hemng, and Tye Rexrode are all young D-ends that shoud get playing time. What happen to Krider? I beleive the current defensive players can develop into a good salty team! My concern is DT/NT--not alot of depth at the position.
  13. Defense- I beleive the returning defensive players have the potential to be pretty good, especially at DE,LB,Corners, and Safety's because all of these guys played alot against some good teams, and gained good experience. Each of these positions have good depth. My concern is DT and NT. There are only 3 players listed on the roster: NT, Isaach Thomas,5-11,289lbs,JR,- never has lived up to his potential. DT, Joseph Miller,6-3,275lbs,JR, I like this guy. He will anchor the DL. Surely he is bigger and stronger since last season. DT, Kendrick Ridge,6-1,275lbs,R-Fr. Lets see how he does in the spring. I would like to see DE, Montey Stevenson,6-2,290lbs,SR, slide over to NT. Stevenson drew alot of double teams last year, and made plays! I think our new recruit, DT Jesse Desoto, 6-2,280lbs, will have a good chance to play in 2007. Also, our DE, E. Gillmore,6-5,250lbs, is rumored to be back in the fall.
  14. I guess this will be the NT version of "Junior Days", with something the "other" schools junior days do not have. Coach Dodge's program includes 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th graders as well as the 12th grade players. I do beleive Coach Dodge and his staff will impress some very young future NT players!
  15. Comming from a run based offense, that tried to excute pass plays last year, I was wondering if the blocking schemes/techniques will be any different for Coach Dodge's spread and single back sets? Will the blocking assignements be complicated or simple? We do not have alot of O-line experience comming back. With OT 6-5 Jeremy Brown, and OT 6-3 Adam Venegas as the only SR's, and OC 6-3 Chad Rose as the only JR, the remaining 10-OL guys are going to be SO's. At least we will have these 10 in the new system for 2-3 more years. Last years "Green Team" players, OT Peachy,C Drake, and OG Banks played pretty good and gained some college game experience, so maybe the O-line may be in better shape than I thought.
  16. I remember that Double D had a "summer football camp" open to anyone- That's how DD found LB-Brandon Monroe.
  17. I wonder if Coach Dodge will have Junior Day or if the athletic dept will allow such a program. I read that Coach Dodge will have his Quarterback and Receivers summer program this year at NT. Last year at SLC, over 350 kids participated. Kids from all over the country line up for this program.
  18. New coach Tal Sanders, will continue to run the spread offense! Tom Bean is located southeast of Sherman TX, well within the 50 mile radius around Denton, that Coach Dodge stated was a priority market for NT recruiting. Great to have a former NT player as a coach, and a possible good contact. Seems like Tom Bean HS always has big OL/DL players every year-- From their FB roster for 2006/2007, Zakk Rudolf, 6-5,310lbs. Purdue signed a OL kid from Tom Bean last year.
  19. Coach Dodge stated Vizza has the talent that fits the needs of his offense. Coach Dodge also stated Vizza will compete for the starting QB job this fall!
  20. Back to the questions-- Does Coach Dodge have the passion for NT? Does a wild bear crap in the woods? Man, I beleive this is a dumb question to be asking. Hell yes, Coach Dodge has the passion for NT! Coach Dodge wanted this job, even Riley stated this was the opportunity his dad wanted! Coach Dodge views NT as a sleeping giant waiting to be awakened! Coach Dodge will build this program into something special! Did Coach Dodge want Riley to come to NT? Hell yes he did--but--he also allowed his son to make his own choice of schools. The NT football scholarship is still on the table for Riley if things change before next February's signing date. Is Riley too good for NT? Was Mean Joe Green too good for NT? If Coach Dodge signs any 3, 4,or 5 star rated player next year, will this player be too good for NT also? Coach Dodge will recruit the best players he and his staff can find, to fit his offense and defense.
  21. I hope ex-Cowboy Nate Newton just lets his son decide on his college choice. Nate had access to the SLC / Austin Westlake championship game sidelines-so-maybe he and Coach Dodge have a connection.
  22. I agree with NT 80- There is more to this story hidden away. I remember the $1.5 million gift was to "jump start" the new stadium campaign, with the money going into the stadium funding program.
  23. College team--North Texas, when ever we get it started. Right now, I would say Texas. I did follow Rice last year. I always like teams that come out of no where to play in the spot lights! Pro team-- will be the Rangers. Maybe one day they will get it right! My cousin, Danny Darwin, played for the Rangers and Astros.
  24. Harry- Any chance that MeanGreenPops # 2 son, the very good WR, that went to N. Colorado-- might consider transfering to NT now that Coach Dodge is running the show?
  25. First, if I were Riley, I would take all the visits I could. Heck, I would like to visit with the Texas coaches and visit the school. Riley just visited TT, does that mean he is going there? Riley is going to choose where he wants to go. Second--the best part of this puzzle, is that NT is competing with the Big Boys for a very good football player, or two, or three, or more! NT can compete for the very good Texas football players, and NT will receive commitments for these players! With Coach Dodge runing the show, the quality of incoming players will just get better! Look at the incomming class, then look at all of the schools that offered our recruits! What a amazing job by Coach Dodge and his staff! What a amazing feat to have all the Mean Green fans worried over top recruits! Next February's National Signing Day is a long way off, just trust in Coach Dodge and his staff!
