  1. Speaking of a fifth- I saw 4 Baylor fans talking about the Todd Dodge hiring- The 4 Balor fans stated the needed a fifth!
  2. H-towngreen, I am not worried about recruiting at all. I beleive Coach Dodge's first class will be impressive to say the least. I beleive there are kids out there that will be looking at NT more now than past years. Even though Coach Dodge is not "offically" on the job yet, I am sure he knows a ton of very good prospects right now! Also, with all of the national media coverage, I would bet there is a pile of video highlights in the mail right now, all addressed to the NT athletic office. Charlie
  3. Just 2 days past the announced hiring of Todd Dodge and the hoopla continues, not just here in the DFW metroplex, but across the nation! WOW!!! North, south, east and west, they all know Todd Dodge and North Texas! Just wait until the first game rolls around, talk about national media, WOW!! One of the many reoccuring topics of discussion from the media outlets and "other" sports boards is this--" Todd Dodge will not stay at NT." The media types and our competion do not know Todd Dodge! Here is the way I read the man: 1.Todd Dodge is a man of his word, and he will stay at NT to build the program, the school, and the community. (I beleive he wants the entire metroplex!). Dodge also wants to be at NT, because NT wanted him, and only him! Dodge and his family love the area and want to stay here. Todd Dodge is loyal to the people that are loyal to him, that beleive in him, and willing to give their support. Everyone will be involved! Look at city, Southlake TX. The entire community is in the game! 2.Why do these posters imply "wait and see" if Todd Dodge will be successful? Why are there no BCS types calling now? So, when Todd Dodge starts kicking their asses, then the BCS moneybags come to Denton. Even one $muts post suggested they will arrive in a gold plated hummer with money to burn! Todd Dodge will find this very insulting to his character. 3.Todd Dodge has a coaches dream right here at NT. All the pieces are falling into place. This is just the beginning of great things to come. Todd Dodge knows this, and will stay at NT because this is what he wants, plain and simple. Charlie
  4. I suggest that all the arm chair QB's let Coach Dodge evaluate the current players. Coach Dodge knows talent, and he will use the talent to his best advantage. I see a wealth of talented players on the team now. ( thank Coach Dickey for geting the Green Team on the field, as well as many Fres/RS players gaining experience). Coach Dodge likes to use miss-matches in attacking a defense. Can you see Colins/Brown/Seidle/Gill, stacked on the line--something like the Saints did to the Cowboys! Beleive me, Coach Dodge will use all the current players. Coach Dodge is an inovator on offense, and a inovator with personell.
  5. The more blah blah blah same old crap our competition posts, the better I like it! This tells me, our competition is running scared, because they know that North Texas is a power that is getting stronger everyday, and represents a danger to their smug little worlds! North Texas is driving a Dodge Hemi now, so get the hell out of our way! So keep the pot shots going! Give us your best shots! Come on, you can do better than what you have done so far. I love it!!!
  6. The hiring of Todd Dodge is pure greatness! I have been reading the "other" boards comments regarding Todd Dodge. I estimate about 2% are good, and 98% are negative. SMU has 47 posts, Baylor has 38 posts, and TCU has 26 posts. For the 2% group, Thank You! You are fans of college football! For the remaing 98%, with the same old negative comments, same old blah blah blah, you know deep down in your mind, this is a great hire. You also will not admit this hire does have you scared. I have a idea, call your AD's and demand that NT is on your schedule and that all 4 schools should play each other every year--any takers ? Just what I thought, no takers and "we have nothing to gain blah blah blah". Todd Dodge knows a thing ot two about football, and about North Texas. There is no blah blah blah in his game, nothing but greatness
  7. Coach Dodge- Thank you for coming to North Texas! You are going to have fun, you will have tremendous support from the fans, and you will have great success! You are going to be at the right school, at the right time! The whole North Texas nation will be there with you ! Thanks again! Charlie NT73
  8. I beleive the hiring of Todd Dodge will become one of the greatest events in NT sports history. Personally, I am very happy with Dodge, to lead our beloved Mean Green, and I want to say a big "Thank You" to RV!! My work place is loaded with Red Raiders, Sooners, Bears, and a few Mustangs-- Hear are a few comments I received this morning: Tech fan--"Wow! You guys got Dodge! No Way, for real? Man, NT will be a power soon! " Sooner fan--"I heard North Texas hired Dodge. That is great! Give him a year or two and NT will be up there with us! Bears fan--"He's just a high school coach--no big deal" Mustang fan--"You know, the North Texas game was set up for us to get a sure win. I though with Dickey gone, we would nail you next year. Well, that aint gonna happen now. We will be sorry for keeping Bennet and not going after Dodge" Do not worry about the jabs and snipes we will receive from our competition-I expect we will see and hear some really sorry ass comments. The more I hear, and read the Happier I become. Charlie
  9. From all of the posting, there seems to be no real confirmation as to which coach or coaches actually did interview with RV, or has a interview scheduled. Today, there is a posting that states Jay Norvell has interviewed. Last week, Jimbo fisher was suposed to be in Denton over the weekend. Jim Harbaugh had a interview trail, from Tulane to NT. Next, Don Carthel states he wants to interview also, but, has had no contact with NT officals. Same for Curtis Modkins, Todd Berry, Jerry Glanville and Eddie Gran. Now, there are reports thatTodd Dodge is being heavily courted by NT officals. I would like for one GoMeanGreen.com offical, to create one posting that lists all the candidates, keep tabs on any interviews, rumors, tid bits of information, and undercover/deep throat info at one location. This could help keep the speculation and guessing in a logical sequence. GMG please advise on this idea. Charlie
  10. I read in the DMN, that Watson Brown has left UAB to become the the new HC at Tenn Tech. Also, Samford University has hired Pat Sullivan as their new HC. Looks like UAB has cleaned house. I am surprized about Brown going to Tenn Tech. Samford University, is 1-AA. The school is located in a upscale suburb of B'ham AL, I beleive in the Hoover AL area. I was transfered to Birmingham back in '86, and lived in Helena AL for almost 8 years. The entire state of Alabama is football crazy! You are either a Tide fan or a War Eagle, Auburn fan, nothing in between. This war between Tide fans and Auburn fans is year round. I remember talking to a Tide fan one day. I stated that I just moved to the B'ham area. Before I could continue the conversation, the Alabama fan,out of nowhere states," Your quarterback steped out of bounds" I was puzzled and ask what are you taking about. The Tide fan was referring to the Texas -Alabama Cotton Bowl game where the Texas QB, I beleive it was James Street, did step out of bounds on the winning TD run. The Tide fans never forget anything regarding Bear Bryant and the Alabama Crimson Tide. I can see why the big name coaches are turning down the HC job. As the HC, you must beat Auburn every year, or you will lose your job, reguardless of your record. Charlie
  11. Here is a "What If" question for you- What if you were hired to be the new head football coach at NT- Would you keep any of the assistant coaches? If so, which ones, or, would you bring in your own staff? I would keep Kenny Evans for LB's, Eric Russell for special teams, and hire Andy Brewster for the OL, and find a spot got Chris Hurd. Question--Will the strength/conditioning coach stay, or is he gone also?
  12. Here is a big "Thank You!" for all of the greetings from the GoMeanGreen team! I have found a new home with NT sports junkies! I am happy as a pig in mud! I have tried to get hooked up on the system for somew time so I am very happy to be able to participate in all of the wide world of sports talk, arm chair quarter backing, and gazing into my green tinted crystal ball trying to see our Mean Green Eagles in the so called "National Championship" for football, basketball, hopefully baseball, track and field, swiming, bowling, and all of our sports!! I will keep my postings clean, my views to the point, and follow the GMG guidelines. I also promise to drink cold beer, watch girls jumping on trampolines, not shoot spike bucks, and to support the Mean Green for ever Thanks again for all the greetings! Charlie
  13. Holy cow! I am finally on the GoMeanGreen.com Yeah!!! Here is my bio- I am a big NT fan, ever since I saw my first NT game in Sept '68. Earned my degree in Health Physical Education, Biology minor Dec '73 Graduated from South Oak Cliff-1967. I live in Grand Prairie now, and I am in the freight transportaion business. Side note of interest, Jerry Moore, the headfootball coach of Appalachian State, is my cousin. My thoughts on the known FB coach candidates: Todd Dodge--Known throughout the state, runs a exciting offense. I beleive Dodge can be successful as HC and could recruit the top tier players. I beleive he will need 2-3 years to develop his offense. Jimbo Fisher--Successful college experience, using some of the most talented players in the country. Until he is in Villarreal's office, I will not beleive he is really interested in NT. Jim Harbaugh--Very good background, knows football. No major college experience though. I really do not think the Texas kids will know him-so maybe the kids fathers could fill in the gaps. Don Stock was a NFL QB also- Look at Stock's success at FIU. Apparently, Harbaugh knows quality assistant FB coaches, which is a big plus. Jerry Glanville--I do not think he fits the mold that RV wants. If I had to pick one today, Todd Dodge first, Jim Harbaugh second. I also beleive there are 1 or 2 other candidates in the mix that we do not know about. I guess we will just have to wait and keep guessing.
