  1. It is a long way to Feb 2008- Yes-there are some good players listed, and alot of competition for these players. I am interested to see the response from Coach Dodge's QB/WR schools held in June/July, because not only Texas kids attend the camps, but kids from all over the country come in just for Coach Dodge. Also- I am interested to see DCTF top 300 list- especially the OL/DL players-- because Coach Dodge was able to land several top 300 with about 4 weeks worth of recruiting. Now, Coach Dodge and his staff have the whole year to recruit the top players. I really hope the staff can sign some very good OL/DL kids for 2008.
  2. Who sent this video to Youtube anyway? Did you receive $ for this stupid video? If you did, YouTube got screwed! Why would anyone want anything like this, especially about UNT, on YouTube?
  3. The Troy fans are not happy about Moore leaving for the red dusty pastures of the west Texas plains-sorta like being stabbed in the back maybe? From the GoTroyTrojans.com board, the fans feel like a new OL coach is just waiting for the offer to work for Larry Blakeney and OC Tony Franklin. The ex-OL coach from last year is availble-wrote a book on OL play called "Open Gate Blocking".
  4. MGP- How does Charlie know you have writen anything about him on GMG? Does Charlie read this board?
  5. Put the ball in his hands and he will do the rest! Greatness! #84 Charlie Brown!
  6. Geez! I love this board! All I did was ask us armchair QB's and Offensive coordinators a question about designing new plays--What the hell? draw on 3rd and 50- stumpbroke fish sandwiches- Maybe we can keep this thread going- ??
  7. Since all the football publications coming this year will have the same report on how bad the NT Offense was last year, that NT has only a few quality players, and especially- no proven QB. If you were the NT offensive coordinator, just completed 15 practices, and have seen how the current players perform-what new sure fire plays would you design, pesonell changes, ideas that you would recommend? Mine are: 1. Put Woody in at running back, and/or wide out--for the half back pass/wide receiver pass option plays, and wide out reverse plays. 2. Have a "jumbo" receiver set, with all the NT receivers that are 6-4,6-5, in a stacked formation at the line of scrimage, especially in goal line situations. Any other armchair QB's got any ideas?
  8. I re-read the report and your right -seems like he is a punter-and a good one! Best part- he is also an accomplished FG kicker. So, if either our FG-K or Punter goes down, Moreland will be availble.
  9. Thomas Moreland- reports signing April 15th, 2007. I looked at the Texas Prep Insider report, that shows the schools of interest were Miss State, Baylor, Iowa State, and Oklahoma. Did offers-scholarships fall through? Moreland had impressive stats from the "kicking" schools/competition he attended. I find this signing interesting, because NT was looking at 2 kickers, the kid from Argyle, Ben Parks, and Logan Barrett, from Kennedale HS, for the 2008 recruiting class. So, how does the signing of Thomas Moreland come into play with our current freshman kicker, Steve Woodward? Is Thomas Moreland a "insurance policy" or competition to improve the kicking game? Does Moreland's scholarship apply to the 2007 class since he signed in 2007? Does NT now stop recruiting the 2 kickers listed by Scout.com?
  10. Well, this is a good report, good review of current talent, at this stage of the 2007 season. All the upcomming summer college football publications will feature the same stuff: 1. New head coach 2. New spread offense 3. New defense, from 3-4 to 4-3 4. New QB Vizza or Meagar 5. New recruits These same reviews will talk about Jamario, Holman, Chapman, etc. All the reports will say NT is weak here and weak there, and questions on the OL/DL. Seems like all the publications read each others reviews, then report the same type of information, then copy each other. All the information is based upon the DD era and the terrible 2006 season performance. I will be interested to read the DCTB story on NT--which will probably report the same information. My point is, I think all of these publications will paint a bleak picture of NT for 2007. All of us know, this NT team is going to be much better than these publications will report. This may be a big advantage to NT, with the other SBC teams beleiving NT is weak, and taking NT lightly. I really beleive the 2007 NT team will be in the race for the SBC crown, and will be "suprise" to many football fans!
  11. Grate posting, Stebo! I con not agree more, that the Sun Belt Conference is one of the best things that has helped NT. I am a "older" NT fan- been through many highs and lows since 1968. The SBC gives us a bowl bid, a NCAA BB bid, and hopefully a baseball team that can compete for a NCAA crown. Look at the NOB- 4 straight trips- I never thought NT would ever be in a real college bowl game, much less than 4 in a row. Now-the SBC is starting to have 2 teams going bowling-I beleive this alone is giving a quality to the SBC teams. I beleive the SBC teams are getting better and stronger, and I do beleive there will be several "upsets" in football this year. Every OOC game a SBC team wins will be deamed a "upset". That is OK- just keep winning the OOC games! Finally, I am very happy to see the response from the fans. As all know, the spring game had over 5000 fans-WOW! The "new" NT fans are in for a real exciting time now, something the "old timers" last saw a long time ago! What is amazing to me, young and old NT fans are a big NT family, that are uniting together for the first time in a long time. It is a good thing to be part of the SBC!
  12. I checked the Scout.com recruiting page for NT-- A few weeks ago, only 6 or 7 names were listed. This afternoon, I counted 16 names. Here are a few new names that caught my attention: 1. Bryan Ehrlich, QB, 6-1,185lbs, San Antonio Madison HS: NT, Neb, Tx Tech, South Carolina, Hawaii, Tx St---seems like all of these schools have "spread" offenses-interesting! How the heck is South Carolina/Spurrier in the mix? 2. Jeremy Gray, DE, 6-6, 235lbs,Sherman HS: NT, Kan, Mo, Oklahoma, Okie St, and TEXAS- How about that--all Big 12 teams, and NT is in the game for this kid! 3. Obinna Akujuobi, CB, 5-8, 170lbs,Langham Creek HS-Houston: NT, Bosie State, Oklahoma, Okie State, Tex A &M, UTEP---some pretty good name schools here--competiting with NT! How do you pronounce this kids name? Is he in the Star War movies? I also found a QB on Rivals, Steven Darrow, Grandburry HS, 5-11, 180lbs, that lists NT, TCU, looks to be more of a DB recruit than QB. I like the fact that NT is after the same type of recruit as our competition, and the fact NT is listed right along with the "other" big name schools!
  13. Yes- past attendence would not be too good, like the Tues might game vs Troy- Heck, by the time you get off work, fight traffic to Denton, it would be 730 or 8 by the time you arrived. Most NT fans just stayed at home to watch the game. Add in the fact NT was not a very good team at the time. Now that Coach Dodge is here, all NT fans have the Mean Green pride back! Coach Dodge and his staff will make this NT team a exciting team to see and the staff will build a better NT team every year. Look at all the accomplishments Coach Dodge has already brought to NT. Any success on the football field will spark even more fan support- this NT pride thing will start snowballing quickly! I really beleive NT will set new attendence records this comming season! I expect us to pack the house at all of our home games, including the $muts game! I want to see NT play first-no matter who the opponent is!
  14. I was really happy to hear the Navy was coming to Fouts this season. Only I feel like NT sorta lucked into this game. I read that K-State and NT have a 2-1 deal with K-State coming to Fouts ( in 2010?). Is this series confirmed? Does NT have any OOC teams that are confirmed coming to Fouts--or--the possibility of coming to Fouts, in the future? I read that FAU and FIU are scheduling Minnesota, Mich State, Maryland at home. Are these schools on a recruiting trip to Miami, or a weekend vacation in the south Florida sun, or a easy winnable game, or to play in the their quality FB stadiums, or to entertain the large base of Minn, M-S, and Maryland fans that live in Miami? I am not starting another debate on our stadium needs, I just want to know the OOC teams that will come to Fouts in our future scheduling.
  15. I do not understand why the city of Dallas does not work with what is in our own back yard- Set up a yearly game during the State Fair of Texas with NT and SMU! Heck-Prairie View and Grambling play every year at the State Fair. A yearly game at the State Fair would be great for the city, the fair, fans, $$$ But again, I am trying to think smart, have a giant event/promotion that would be fun for the fans, local rivals, etc-- I swear the govt of Dallas is as dumb as a tree stump! Lets bring in Tx Tech and Ok State, that will bring in the fans for sure! Who gives a rats ass about these 2 teams playing in the CB? Sounds like a copy cat of TX-OU!
  16. Where can I get a copy of the bowl win over Cincy?
  17. Looks like everything he states and points out, is from the past. The guy does not know Coach Dodge and what Coach Dodge can do and will do. The guy does not know NT has talent and the will to win! Only the 2007 season will prove to all these so called "football experts" that North Texas is back, and will not be pushed around!
  18. From Northeast Mississippi Community College- produced RB- Cam Montgomery- Brandon Bates, 6-6, 290 Chris Bradwell, 6-5, 280 Greg Magnifico, 6-4, 280--what a last name! From Rivals.com: Adran Dorsey, 6-4, 285, Tyler John tyler Troy Franklin, 6-5, 270, Celina---mentions NT in his bio--YEAH!! Joe King, 6-7, 297, Ok City Putnam HS Dan'Tay Ward, 6-3, 320, Navarro Jr College Shedrick Ferrel, 6-6, 315, North Dallas HS Allen Brown, 6-4, 314, Carthage HS Ray Kibble, 6-4, 330, Houston Hastings HS Stacey McGee, 6-5, 280, Muskogee OK HS Nick Blennent, 6-4, 270 N. Cowley HS
  19. I was reading the Troy Trojans football message board- There is a post regarding their defense is switching to a new defensive alinement- a 4-2-5, because many teams that Troy will play this year run the "spread". The Troy fans are already predicting their starting offense and defense for thier opening game against Arkansas, and how they will win this game!
  20. Any news on Lineberry? I noticed Nichols State had a OL guy drafted- I thought for sure, both Quinn and Lineberry would be drafted!
  21. Offense-Projected starters: I do not think anyone is a starter yet- I think Coach Dodge and his staff will have multiple "starters" playing and rotating. Center- I beleive Drake has taken over-Rose to RG but will back up, B. Glass--back up? LG/GR--depth has delveloped, Rose, Venegas, Santiago, Bailey, Vetrans start- Rose/Venegas maybe Banks can come back, Santiago and Bailey looked good though. LT/RT--this spot worries me- Peachy,Menard,Carlson,Foster, starters-Peachy/Menard I also see Venegas coming over as a backup, Carlson is a good OT back up also Alexander--well, maybe he should hang it up, knee injury is nothing to chance! WR's---I see C. Fitzgerald, B. Jackson, K Washington, B. Stickler, Sam Roberson I think there could be another set or 2 of WR's-depends on what the defense gives up. I see several new reruits playing or even to start-just have to wait and see. Charley Brown, B. Seidle and V. Gill must be in the game somehow! RB----If our O-line can move or slow down the defense, we spread out the defense-JT will have a great year, CM is a real player too, I see him used in the passing game, and D. Cox, will be used in several different sets-maybe KR's also.Starter, JT. QB----Meager-job is his to lose- Vizza will have to out preform Meager completely, and Wilson- I do not want a freshman QB out there. But- if he clearly leads the team- start him! I will post my defense later-
  22. I go to the NT games to see North Texas, first and foremost, regardless of who NT is playing. Now, my interest level will climb, if the opponent is a "name" team. I like going to the games, and the games are more fun when we kick the crap of our opponet. I feel the quickest way to the football heavens, is something NT can do now- Build a quality 1st class stadium. Next, get all the NT fans involved- not to see the new stadium, but, to see NT play! Winning will bring fans back to see NT, and will fill the stadium! A good stadium, will help bring the top FB teams to NT! One of the resaons, C-DOA, did not even think of adding NT, was the fan base- I beleive NT fans should sell out Fouts every game this year! It is a real shame, there are so many NT alums here in the DFW metroplex that do not give a rats ass about what is going on at NT!
  23. Could you post your photos for all of us to see?
