  1. Darn near every coach is fired at one time or another. Better cross Levitt, Mangino, Leach, Franchione, etc... off your wish list.
  2. Many reference Levitt and his building job at USF when communicating their desires for our program, while others reference Boise State, TCU or Utah. Please tell me which of these schools hired a coach, with a name, that was run off from his last job to build their current program? Boise State = Koetter USF = Levitt TCU = Franchione Utah = Meyer None of the above fit this description, and only Fran was D1 HC prior to their hiring, and he really was not what I would call a "name brand.". I would also argue that TCU's sustained success has come under Patterson, who was unknown and not a popular choice at the time of his hiring. The above programs got to where they are today based upon the success of the program, community involvement and a commitment from the university.
  3. Riley could win the Heisman and houstonmeangreen would still find something wrong with him. Just the way it is.
  4. Can't wait to hear that they have all signed and are our's for 4 years. Loved this quote:
  5. Syracuse Sausage? Really? Syracuse? Let's bring in some good Texas versions like Chappell Hill or Burton. For all that is clean and good, Syracuse is in freakin' New York!
  6. I agree. The part I find so ironic, is that the posters that are annoyed with the alleged campaigning by the Canales camp are the same posters that turned this board into a sophmoric "yuck fest" last year and couldn't understand why many of the older posters had grown tired of it. Heck, I got banned a couple of times over it when the typical response I would receive was "Well, if you don't like our posts either don't read them or utilize the ignore button." Those two options are still available to those that don't want to read posts from the "alleged Team Canales" posters.
  7. I think Riley might really come into his own now that he is out from under his father. Nothing against Todd, but the added pressure of being "the coach's son" is tough. Not only was Riley trying to win games, lead the team, etc... but he also knew in the back of his mind that the results could affect his father's employment.
  8. You are kidding right? Pulling an intro to our fight song because of the composers views and motives? It is a fight song for goodness sakes, not a wedding march.
  9. Networking, never burn any bridges, network, get involved in industry organizations and network.
  10. It is simple: Fire us up during the game. Wow us at halftime.
  11. Fran's TCU success was just over 10 years ago. A lot of passion and enthusiasm can be lost in 10 years.
  12. I don't think I've ever gotten an answer to my question, so I will pose it this way. Would you accept a coach with the following credentials?: 1985-86 Brigham Young University Graduate Assistant - Quarterbacks 1987-94 Snow College Offensive Coordinator - Quarterbacks C oach 1995 Pacific Quarterbacks Coach 1996-2000 University of South Florida Offensive Coordinator - Quarterbacks Coach 2001-2002 North Carolina State Quarterbacks Coach /Passing Game Coordinator 2003 New York Jets Wide Receivers Coach 2004-2006 University of Arizona Offensive Coordinator - Quarterbacks Coach 2007-2009 University of South Florida Offensive Coordinator - Quarterbacks Coach
  13. Monroe, LA also uses an old moonshine jug, so they are qualified to play a SOTS song. More power to them.
  14. I agree and can't believe the name calling this has turned into.
  15. Who are you proposing that has head coaching experience?
  16. I wouldn't call a banjo, washtub bass and a set of spoons a "Symphony band." That may pass muster in Alabama, but not here!
  17. First, I would love to know who these 5 major donors are. If they are your longtime friends, then I would assume they are long term fans of North Texas. If so, were they on board with the hiring of Moore, Tyler, Simon, Nelson, Parker, Dickey and Dodge? Based upon their track record, I don't think making them happy is the answer. Second, Canales does not come from a losing program until this year. Look at the schools where he coached and tell me how you can even make this claim. Stop twisting the facts to support your claim. Third, who would these donors like to see as the next HC? Again, would love to know who these folks are.
  18. doyoubleedgreen, to clarify a few things: 1. We all love the Green Brigade and brag on you all all the time. 2. We love the fact that our musicians are much better than those anywhere else. 3. We are tired of the same old tunes played from the stands. 4. We are tired of the same old tunes played from the stands at the wrong time. 5. We would like to see the Green Brigade play some "traditional" football songs. 6. Most of our critiques are not of the students playing, but of the people making the decisions for the band. 7. No more male flagpersons.
  19. Exactly, but don't tell PMG. Dude's been breathing the nuclear waste from Commanche Peak.
  20. Outside of this year, So Does Canales! Good Gosh!
