  1. What an exciting friday night I told my wife I wouldn't drink tonight. Besides, I got a big day tomorrow. You guys have a great time. 'A big day? Doing what?' Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time.
  2. Theres alot of conspiracy theories going on around the internet so I thought I should share mine with you all. SMU actually has hired Lee Jackson to sabotage our football program to make sure the ponies who haven't been respected in football since the 1980's can once again get the upper grasp in the metroplex. They also pay off employers to not hire us, payed off CUSA to not let us in and told them to blaim it on lousy facilities/no baseball team.
  3. I think you guys are missing my point. I would love to kick the living hell out of them, I hope the final score is 54-0 and I'm drunk enough to make an ass out of myself by yelling something along the lines of 'daddys money can't but you a win' to all the SMU alumni walking back to their bmw's. It's fun to exagerate stereotypes but lets not get ahead of ourselves. A win against them isn't going to be that huge. It's a game we need to win and should win.
  4. When was the last time SMU went to a bowl game? When was the last time SMU had a winning season? They've had 3 winning seasons in the past 20 years. I understand the history and the need to beat them, but seriously, its not like this win gives us a birth into the rose bowl. I'd get this excited for a big winning season or a win in a bowl game but not for a team with the caliber of SMU. We should be expected to win this game and if we do act nonchalant about it. Trust me, I agree a loss would be a big blow, but beating SMU isn't that big of an accomplishment. I'm still surprised that some of you picked a win over SMU than the defending national champions. Maybe I'm just missing something.
  5. Nice quote in the profile pollock... Dude died in a hang gliding accident. What an idiot!
  6. Ok theres two scenerio's pick your choice: 1. We barely beat a good UT squad and go on to lose to SMU by a few touchdowns like the frogs last year. 2. We get stomped in by UT again but rebound to beat SMU by a touchdown. Just interesting to see how each of you weight each game in level of importance. Personally I take the win over UT any and every day regardless of the score next week of the SMU game.
  7. That pretty well sums up of what I had to say. I beat out a few SMU MBA grads for a job a while back, and I think it goes to prove just because they pay 5 times of what we pay for tuition doesn't necessarily mean they get a huge advantage in the real world. Anyways didn't SMU go 0-12 a few years ago?
  8. Unfortunatly I agree with you I'm not expecting a 10 win season next year but I want to see some intensity and aggressive football. That means on a 3rd and 9 we don't run a draw play when we're down by a few touchdowns I guess the question is does if DD has the same type of season with the same type of apathetic play should he keep his job?
  9. 1. UNT over Baylor 52-14. Before the begining of the game I kept hearing things about how NT sucked and wasn't a real football program becuase we weren't in the big XII. Oh man, the conversations I had after that game were great. 2. Bowl win over Cincy 3. Troy vs UNT at fouts on ESPN 2. I had a economics test that night so I wasn't able to attend this one, but I recorded the game and really liked what they had to say about the future of NT football with the new stadium plans. 4. The TT win. We have a several of opportunities to have some games that mak the list this year. To me the character of this UNT football program and Darrel Dickey will truly show this year. I don't mind seeing a bad season after four straight confrence titles but after going 2-9 we better have some fire coming out of our ass when we take on UT. Its an opportunity to show the nation and alot of potential recruits we're not a bunch of pushovers and our run on our sun belt dynasty isn't over.
  10. Thats a very good post. From reading comments on this board I would of thought LJ was being paid by SMU to secretly sabotage our chances of ever escaping the lower ranks of college football. It would be interesting to see a list of the 19 candidates picked and their qualifications though.
  11. Thats a very good a post. If a dallas player looked at Wade wrong he would go to the line. Then you see stack or dirk get hacked and nothing is called. Seriously, I think one time i saw devon harris graze Wades jersey once and they called a foul on him. I don't mind watching the mavericks lose to more talented teams, like in the past when we lost to the spurs, etc. because they just flat out beat us. Watching these past few games have really pissed me off because of: 1. The officiating 2. Shaq is a pretentious blockhead 3. People in Miami are assholes because they think they live in a tropical resort. I can't go on, I'm going to do something less painful like stick my head in the oven.
  12. 11-1??? Thats pretty optimistic and a few seasons ago with this years schedule I wouldnt of thought it far fetched.. If we lose by a decent amount to texas and go 11-1 theres no way in hell we wouldn't be in the top 25. Here's a real question. If you were to put $10,000 on guessing the correct record I don't think most of this board would give us a plus .500 record If my money was were my mouth was I'd give us 4 wins.
  13. That would be great if we had a QB that could do that. Can you imagine JT's yards per carry if there were only 5 men in the box?
  14. TCJC has a football team?? or just a mess up?
  15. drop by the whataburger off of fort worth dr. They have pictures all around it of famous UNT alumni and you can get a good burger. Killing two birds with one stone if you ask me
  16. The Baylor game was huge, but it was so big because there were nearly 30,000 people and we stomped the crap out of a big XII team. Replace 'big XII' with 'metroplex rival' and its the same caliber. People were saying how bad last years performance could/did hurt our recruiting, especially after the blow out loss to tulsa. But if we can go out and hit these guys in the mouth and come out with a big win I see all of that erased. Lets face it, lots of people and many recruits don't care if we can beat a school in lousiana that no ones ever heard of.
  17. This sucks i just signed the lease of an apartment in walking distance of all the bars If this actually does happen, my thursday nights are going to be pretty bland from now on.
  18. Its not an american holiday but dammit it gives me an excuse to party and pick up some corona's and lime
  19. I think anyone who reads a GGII post won't takes this board seriously That being said we'll beat UT by 40 points.
  20. Only one state has more fortune 500 companies founded than texas, and a good portion of these companies are located in the DFW area. When the time gets closer towards building that new stadium, we really shouldn't have a problem finding a sponsor. However, I disagree with the no new need for academic buildings. I read in a newspaper UNT has the worst ratio of classrooms per student in the state. On top of that I think we need more science buildings/engineering type buildings to continue to get more federal grants in a time where the state is decreasing funds. Can someone also explain to me all the animosity toward Lee Jackson? I have never publiclly heard him say hes not pro-athletics, and everyone on campus I have talked to doesn't seem to think that (besides the people on this message board). Is this more of a conspiracy theory or are there actually hard facts?
  21. This is a pretty easy answer: Yes, and the main reason why is because of RV. We're not happy where we are at, but we are better off than 10 years ago. As long as RV stays here I think we will continue to progress. I just hope to see something from DD next season. And if he goes 2-9 again I think he gets the boot no question.
  22. Found something kind of interesting, wonder if anyone else has seen this. Says the date is 12-1-05 when this was released. http://www.unt.edu/facsenate/AY05-06/Athle...tion12.2005.pdf If you scroll down to page 19 it says 'capital dollars pledged and raised $7,000,000 and proposals consistantly being presented'. Is that the new stadium fund? If not anyone else hear how much money we have raised? I'm just curious to see how close we are.
  23. Hopefully we can get a qb to give him a chance to show off a little more this season
  24. No kidding. At first I thought I was on the MUTS board by accident. If someone from SMU were to read this and look down on us, I actually wouldn't blaim them. I agree we're to negative of the team/coaches/administration/school etc. But if we were happy being where we were at, we would never progress to become a better university. One last thing, if you go up to any local bar or talk to friends and claim that we will beat UT after going 2-9 people will consider you to be the local village idiot. I'm not saying GG II is an idiot, just that people perceive him as 'crazy'.
  25. wow while we're at it we could make rivals with the university of phoenix online.
