  1. Especially that EvilVodka guy. Tell me, how can vodka be evil? And SMU is serious about football?
  2. If I recall, there was a lot of "Morriss should get this program back on track" talk when he took the job too. I think that Briles could conceivably have a chance to possibly get Baylor back on track, maybe...if everything falls the right way.
  3. Singletary was mentioned in the article. He said no. Smart move on his part.
  4. Not to mention that he has played against them and knows the team. Good move for Nutt, Ole Miss fans don't expect a NC every year, so there will be less pressure. Time will tell if it is a good move for Ole Miss.
  5. THURSDAY: (11)USC at (6)Arizona State--PAC 10 title on the line. ASU takes care of its business (10 points) against a down USC team. The have proven lately that they can't finish the season strong. FRIDAY: Arkansas at (1)LSU--Tigers need to win out to reach MNC. LSU in a big way (17 points), they won't be caught looking forward to the SEC Championship. (13)Texas at Texas A&M--Horns trying to keep pressure on OU for outside shot at Big 12 title. Even in Kyle field, I don't see how A&M can win this (10 points), except for the players playing hard for Fran in his last game as A&M HC. Almost managed to keep from laughing... (19)Boise St. at (15)Hawaii--WAC title on the line. I think Hawaii does win this (6 points), but it will be close. They can taste a big bowl, and have the offense to get there.
  6. Very valid point. It would be nice if Dodge would even explain the decision since we can't hear directly from Mendoza.
  7. Seems to me, by making a catch and running with the ball, he was drawing attention to himself...
  8. Is this really a controversy, or is it just a point of discussion?
  9. That's not a smoke detector, that a carbon monoxide detector. Prevents the silent killer, which sounds like you may be.
  10. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect in the win-loss column. Did I WANT to win a lot of games, yes. But I didn't really EXPECT to win many. We struggled last year and the year before. To expect a huge turn in the record is not what I expected. Things I did expect: Trying in OOC games, which I believe we did, even if the score doesn't reflect that. Change in attitude. I think this is in progress. It takes time for the team to see winning as an achievable goal after so many tough seasons. Cut down on stupid penalties. Not false starts (not saying these are not stupid, just not what I expected to change), but the personal fouls and the like. We have made improvements in that regard. Improvement throughout the season. This has occurred at times, but not like I would like to see. In a coach's first year, win-loss doesn't necessarily mean as much as we would like to think. If we continue to get better and are more prepared for next season, then I think we are going to be fine. Patience is key in this process.
  11. This is just a little editing and bad voice-over work from being a reality.
  12. I hope you are right, but at the moment, our defense is struggling. Mendoza has a lot of work to do to get that squad up to par.
  13. If that is the case, then find two others instead (Tulane and Tulsa as a couple of names) and don't invite them to the party. It would be nice to have a couple of regional schools for us, but this conference proposal is better for us than the Belt or CUSA.
  14. Our defense was much improved this week. Our offense didn't get the job done this week. We punted 10 times and had 205 yards. 3 of 18 on 3rd down, and 0 for 4 on 4th. 23 of 41 on passing, 56% completion rating. We averaged 7.78 yards per completion. Jamrio and Moseley averaged 2.4 and 0.7 yards per carry respectively. They combined for 11 carries. Our longest run of the day was 12 yards. We were outgained by 288 yards in about 7 minutes fewer in TOP. I'm not saying our defense was stellar, but we can not ignore a poor offensive perofrmance like this. At least the defense put us into some positions to do something with the ball. They did give up a lot of yards, but the offense sure didn't help out any by putting points on the board and developing some momentum for the defense to feed off of. Maybe we should try looking at this as a team loss. "Well, it's a team game, and it took the whole team to f^*$ this one up." -Matt Stone as Doug Remer in Baseketball
  15. I don't see any self-respecting, competitive coach sandbagging anything. Especially looking at the beginning of our season. Dodge "Hey, I know, I will tell all of our fans that we think we can win now, even though I don't plan to. Then we will go into our opening game and get totally destroyed. Do that at least once more, drop some winnable games, and then we can get started winning. That sounds like a great idea!" See, now doesn't that sound ridiculous.
  16. I thought that Vizza threw one INT in the first quarter at about the 20 or so. Maybe I was in the wrong stands...
  17. Let's not be too hasty. This is a tough list to get on. In order to get on this list, some really bad have to win.
  18. Sheriff of Rottingham: I was angry at you before Locksley, but now I'm really pissed off! Achoo: Pissed off? If I was that close to a horse's d#%@ I'd be worrying about being pissed on! Robin Hood: Men in Tights
  19. Having grown up in Fort Worth, I can tell you that a lot of what is being said is true. I can't stand TCU. Even before I went to North Texas, I didn't like them. So many people in Fort Worth talk about how great the school is, but have never even set foot on campus. As much as the perception is that TCU is "Fort Worth's School," very few people go to the games or even keep up with the program. TCU needs to win Fort Worth before they go after the metroplex. Sadly, the same could be said for NT and Denton.
  20. I have heard that if begin to act something has happened, it will...So, on that note, I think that we should play all of our games this year on the proposed site of the new stadium. The more people that are there the better. Once we have played several games there, the stadium will appear with the number of seats of our average attendance. Nothing like a good self-fulfilling prophecy!
  21. I can agree with depth, but the LBs from 03 were some of the best we have had in recent memory (Brad Kassel notwhithstanding). Not to say that this group isn't very talented, but before seeing them play this season, I can't say that they are as good/better than the 03 guys.
