  1. Winning answer. Tailgating is a big reason for many to go to a game.
  2. I'll start. It's just our luck that ODU gets Lawry back in time for our game. #OldDenton Doesn't matter who we play, we plan to win. #NewDenton Anyone want some sushi? #RVRetirementPlan
  3. Yep you're right thanks. 2 then Hall & McDonald. I'm not sure what you're saying. EJ played last year. Both Sophomores are the young guys already mentioned as the only 2 young guys getting significant time. Are you saying that we have a lot of new guys getting significant time, or young guys getting time? Because I'd disagree with both except for the 2 young guys getting playing time (which I already mentioned).
  4. 1 Kemon Hall. Everyone else has started games in the past. The defense is not young. And very few young players are getting playing time. Maybe not a problem if recruiting on that side of the ball is going well, but I'm not an expert on recruiting.
  5. I keep seeing people say this, and while I could agree on Offense, on defense the opposite seems to be true. And defense is the weak spot of the team. D-Line - 3 Sr, 2 Jr 1 So LB - Top 4 playing time - 1 Sr , 3 Jr Secondary - 3 Sr., 2 Jr, 1 So Only 2 sophomores getting any time Muhammed and Hamilton. all the rest are upperclassmen. Very little younger players getting any playing time at all. The defense may be a real problem not just this year but maybe worse next year?
  6. I'm starting to get sick of hearing this already, and others who post on here that the fan base is awful and needs to just show up. You can't be serious? We've been bad for 40 years. This 4-2 record is our best after 6 games since 1978 when we were 5-1. We've had 5 winning seasons in that same time. We've had 1 winning season since 2004. The fact anyone cares at all is amazing. Just because the AD dept. started doing what they should have been doing for the last 40 years for what, like 3 games, it's the fan's fault? That sounds like something RV would have said (and did to us many times). We need all fans to come and berating them for not doing it right, or having left, or having given up before on rants so they shoudn't come back is dumb and short-sighted. Kudos for winning some game finally and doing some marketing finally. Keep doing it and it will eventually improve.
  7. I'll give you another reason. We haven't started a season 4-2 since 1978 when we went 4-1.
  8. I more or less agree with this. We haven't been 4-2 in a season since 1978 when we went 4-1. That's almost 40 years people.
  9. Good grief. I don't expect a big crowd it's too soon (those that do will be disappointed) I also can't give my tickets away (again too soon). But we should expect this team to win. And if we need to " to take it down a notch" so the team plays hard. Well then I don't know what to say. We've been terrible forever. Earn it every week. I think the team knows that. I think you're just worried you are getting excited and will get let down. Think Rice 2013 and it will all be ok.
  10. Listened to a lot of it and agree with @Harry this game is quite important. All of those in the attendance thread thinking attendance will be big are failing to think that it takes time for most people to notice a turnaround. On the surface we are 3-2 (average) and UTSA which on the surface most think don't play football is 3-1. I don't think there is a big attendance uptick from general fan. That leads me to my biggest worry, the team sees this game as easier because UTSA just lost to a team we beat. That coupled with an average crowd deflates them and UTSA who HAS to win this game will be playing with their hair on fire. After watching a pathetic effort from the US Men's national team in Trinidad last night in a similar circumstance blow it all i'm hoping this isn't the worst sports week for me. I hope our team realizes they haven't done anything yet.
  11. Nicely done by the School paper. Better coverage than the local paper on this one with quotes from players on the team. Good job!
  12. Getting so much free press out of this. It's an opportunity to also mention we aren't NTSU anymore either.
  13. "This is the kind of spontaneous publicity - your name in print - that makes people. I'm in print! Things are going to start happening to me now."
  14. Yes, that is what I'm saying. It wasn't - 3 men, no pressure, eventually someone gets open, it was 4 man, decent pressure, QB wasn't good enough to beat us and he didn't. Offense kept scoring, then the 4 man rush just tee'd off when no longer worrying about the run game.
  15. I don't mind the rumors of coaches for other jobs. What I hope though is that they move much higher up on the chain when they do move. That to me is more on the Administration mkaing so they only leave when really too good to pass up.
  16. Early on we did our normal blitz thing and got burned. As the game went on, realized their QB couldn't beat us and started going to more of a 4 man rush. And it worked. Good coaching adjustment.
  17. I sure hope Vito asks about this. Also up 16. Weird call and let UAB get back in the game giving them hope.
  18. So much this. Until we can convert/stop someone on 3rd down we won't challenge for the conference. It's where you show how good you really are. It's why The Stand against Rice was a miracle. (Not really that defense was good which is why we won so many games)
  19. When the injury was reported, I looked at the schedule and thought UTSA. It's after a bye, and 9 1/2 weeks after the injury. Of course, none of us know how serious it was but reading the tea-leaves that was a hopeful guess.
  20. We didn't look to over-matched. But, IOWA kept it very vanilla. Kind of like we did against Lamar. Defense could never get off the field. That is a problem (feature) of Littrell era so far. Oline played better, but they were rarely (never?) blitzed. Wilson is special. The secondary got whipped deep like every game but IOWA overthrew them keeping it close. Worried about Darden, he is a good player and limped off.
  21. Exactly my feelings. Whenever Lamar brought pressure, we couldn't handle it. We'll go as far as this Oline takes us.
  22. Geez so many people read what they want instead of what someone said. Here is what @Mean_Green09 said with how I took it in bold "He has improved his deep ball accuracy <compliment>. His issues come when he doesn't have a throwing lane <true for most QB's but more so for a short one. Not really ripping the kid just a fact. Criticism>. He gets rattled by pressure <most Qb's do as well especially younger ones. Criticism but warranted> . A big concern since his OL is poor. <true statement> " Let's me put it another way. QB is not in my top 3 concerns about the team, and that is a rarity following UNT.
