  1. Not at all! The value has to to com from transfers that are eligible...Berglund, UT WR, etc
  2. You have to have a QB you are comfortable with throwing the ball. I know Thompson is a good guy, but he is erratic at best with his accuracy. If you throw on 1st down with an "iffy" chance of completing it, you now have 2 chances to get 10 yds, as opposed to 2 chances as geth 6-7 yds by running on 1st down. In other words...better QB play...more balance on the offense.
  3. Noticed today that Berglund was working in the off-season program fo the first time...GREAT NEWS!!!
  4. Still in the hunt...that is all we can ask for. The kid said he would take all his trips before he got here. The Medina loss is not crippling, not even really on my "oh crap" radar
  5. Vito makes a good point about kids who take care of their business in the classroom tend to take care of business on the field as well. Shows dedication to excellence in everything you do
  6. As he should!!! We would all be proud papas in that situation I would hope!!!
  7. When I was talking about corner, I assumed Hilbert Jackson would be replaced...I was listing the three players fighting for to spots
  8. There are going to be some very good battles going on this Spring, and I am sure well into Fall. The best part about it is that in most of the position battles, there will be some quality depth to have people fight it out. For as long as I can remember, since the DD years, we have needed and wanted competition, but didn't really have the guys to compete for spots. Many of the position battles recently have seemed to be won by default. Take a look at the following, and it seems like we might have some good ones shaping up... QB - Thompson/Berglund HB - Jimmerson/Pegram/Byrd WR - There are a host of guys, and the only sure one is Chancellor RT - Anyiam/RS's/JUCO C - Feldt/JUCO (this old be one of those default battles due to health issues w/ Feldt) DE - Bellazin/RS's/JUCO DT - We have a couple of RS kids that will be battling it out for Cantly's spot CB - Chad Davis/James Jones/Whitfield S - Busby/Buyers/Davis/Kelly/Lee/Marshall/Trice (I can't see Trice not locking a safety spot up) P - ???? Should be fun!

  10. That looks to be a nice pick up...beat out some solid competition for this kid...nice to see
  11. To answer your question simply...our offense will suck, and our passing game will be inconsistent at best
  12. What makes that team so special is that many of the guys on that defense could be argued as some of the all-time NT greats at their position. If only we had an offense during that run that was just a little more dynamic
  13. In reading Vito's latest blog entry, he said NT is bringing in a JUCO safety to compete with Trice for the starting job. I understand telling players that they can come in and compete for a staring job, but when you bring in a JUCO, especially a guy with McCarney's philosophy in recruiting HS guys, you're bringing him in to start. My question is with all the holes we have, are we really worried about Trice? I thought he had a pretty damn good year.
  14. "First off, the plant foot/ankle is the back foot" I am assuming you were referring to my post, and I was referring to the lead leg, b/c you plant it to follow through w/ your throw...something Thompson never does.
  15. Ok...you have me on K-State, I am telling you, that is the exception. The teams that are good year in and year out are not building their rosters through JUCOS. The good teams TRADITIONALLY build through HS recruiting. That was my point
  16. 100% agree...there are several offensive pieces coming in next season that I'm sure these coaches are hoping pan out
  17. Alabama, K-State, do NOT rely heavily on JUCOS...that just isn't true.
  18. That's the good thing about Thompson I guess, he has always thrown off his back foot anyway, so an injury to his plant foot/ankle wouldn't really matter
  19. Trice, Warner, Jimmerson, Akunne, Harris, Lemon, Whitfield, etc.
  20. I know every arm chair coach out there thinks Osborn is better, but I'm still thinking Mac would be letting him play if he was. DT sadly may be the best we have right now
