Since when did guts pass talent when fans discuss players? Especially when our QB position gets discussed... Thompson is not good...not average...not decent... Doesn't make him a bad guy...hell I'm not a good QB either, nor is my brother or any of my friends...we're still ok people. BUT...I keep hearing he's got guts...he's tough...he's experienced...he bleeds green! You know what I see? Overthrow...underthrow...pick...pick 6...slow...throws off back foot... I hear the Kansas State game...they gave him the underneath stuff all night...the only passes he completed all year were underneath dinks and dunks...an extension of the run game. Check out the "highlight" clips from last year...even the completions the WRs had to be high jumping contortionists...it's horrible! I promise to be there every Saturday, but damn it may just kill me to have to watch him again this season! It's nice if your QB has "guts", its nice if he's a "gamer", but what I want most, first and foremost...TALENT throwing the ball to receivers in a position to let them make plays! THAT'S WHAT I WANT! Thompson cannot be that person

I agree with UNT90...a rivalry should mean something every year, and each game should be a toss up...we need to beat the piss out of UTSA every time we play them

I hope he wears them during games, day or night...it's like superman not wearing his cape!

I'm not sure many have been relying on the youth argument going into this season. I know the last couple of years it has been made plenty, including by me, but this year that argument doesn't fly. We would like to have a couple of the "kids" contribute, but what team doesn't? We will definitely have experience going into this season. It about the quality of the players with the experience at this point in the McCarney regim...and that's my big worry at this point. As anyone who reads my posts knows...I am especially concerned with our SENIOR QB, if he indeed will be the starter.

But would he make anymore than Thompson does now? That's my point. It's not like Thompson is an all-conference senior. Hell, I would argue he hardly plays like you would expect given his experience. What additional mistakes do people expect Berglund to make that Thompson doesn't already make?

I have seen several offer the argument for Thompson over Berglund due to the fact that Thompson will make less mistakes because he has more experience at this level. Yes, I can't argue the fact he has more experience, but can one really say his ability to not make mistakes wins him the job??? I have never understood this argument. It's almost as shaky as the "great leader" argument, or the "poor receiver" argument. I have seen countless overthrows (mistake), under throws (mistake), and when he was allowed to throw the ball...he threw picks (mistake)! In matter of fact, as many as he did TDs. While I'm at it...so they are all on one post...lets dispel the other two Thompson apologist excuses...a team must have great leaders to be successful, but if the QB is a great leader but can't deliver the ball ROUTINELY he isn't going to win games. I don't care if he is getting paid to deliver leadership seminars, the QB has to be able to throw the damn football!!! As far as having "poor receivers" I'm calling BS on this too. One can't argue that we had the greatest receiving weapons in the land, but they got open enough to get the job done. I can't remember how many times they had to leave their feet to catch the ball, or simply had the ball delivered in the dirt or the bleachers. I'm not bagging on Thompson as a person, team leader, or anything of that nature, but I am tired of people trying to make me feel comfortable about him playing QB for my team. On a strictly performance based evaluation, all other crap aside, he is not a good, or even average college QB. We don't know exactly what we have with Berglund, but I know what we have in Thompson, and it isn't good. I will go out on a limb and say Berglund can't be worse.

I just got through watching this draft and I think my lot in life as a NT fan is disappointment! Damn the bowl years...if not for them I may not have had to go through a life of emotional abuse as a NT fan who now bleeds green for life...

Man that was an AWESOME game!!! By far the best game I've ever been a part of. It does make me think how loud that game would have been in Apogee??? Man I loved those bowl years!!!
