  1. I agree that career starts will probably be useful as well.
  2. Correct. Antibody tests don’t help you prevent the spread of the virus among the team members. They hopefully capture data on who was infected by the virus at least two weeks previously. Useful for understanding the spread but useless for short term needs like this.
  3. Very good news. Hopefully they will do a second round in a week or so to confirm.
  4. Buffalo Trace is the smoothest “cheaper” bourbon on the market IMO. I don’t recall ever seeing a green label so maybe give it another try. Same maker as Eagle Rare and Blantons in addition to Pappy Van Winkle and related products.
  5. Was not trying to be funny at all. I was reading something into your post and was asking for clarification so that others did not also misunderstand your intent. Thank you for providing it. I think the emphasis on minority students is not just an end in itself but rather a desire to provide better opportunities to those students since they are generally under represented in higher education. I don’t see why white students would not want to attend a university that looks like American society in general. Again thanks for clarifying.
  6. I agree. MUTS, UTEP, Rice, UTSA, and Charlotte are the most likely wins (other than the opener of course).
  7. The way this is written makes it seem like you are opposed to a smaller percentage of white students. Seems like this would just be a normal trend due to changing demographics. There are groups out there that oppose the increase in the “minority” population but I am sure you are not among those. It would be helpful if you could clarify your statement because it was a bit ambiguous.
  8. Maybe we should do a poll: Which roster QB would you sacrifice to the football gods for a bowl win this season?
  9. I did everything I could to leave this post alone but I failed. I can admit my failings. What the hell is wrong with you? Maybe let’s make sure our players are healthy before we go all buck wild? This isn’t abstract any longer. These are our “adopted” kids. We all respect your dedication and fandom - in addition to your public service. But damn, man. Read the room. Let’s make sure all our boys are safe, please.
  10. Ok sorry. I have mentioned in other threads I think but I made the mistake of not explaining fully. Glad we reached an understanding. I work with many Vets and active duty - many friends are struggling from their experiences so it is something I hold dearly to my heart. And we also see it in our daily lives. Vietnam vets struggled and so do our current ones. Drug problems, unemployment, and homelessness are not just general society problems but also Veterans’ issues that we MUST address.
  11. The VA has been a mess for years and PTSD among veterans means we need increased mental health resources. We are 45 years since the end of Vietnam so I was specifically referring to the last 19 years, but in response our treatment of Vietnam vets was no better if not worse - plus they were often treated poorly by those who opposed the war. A little before my time and I studied WW1 and WW2 so I don’t have a great grasp on that era. Did you have a point in asking? Do you think our care of recent vets has been adequate?
  12. That 2018 defense was pretty good in my opinion. We bury Reffett for last year but the D was improving year by year 2016-18. Honestly they didn’t have the horses last year and they went too conservative too soon. I think the outside WRs will be a threat to score on any play this year. But that OL has to give the new inexperienced QB a few seconds to get the ball out. Fine never had the time but delivered anyway often because he was willing to sacrifice his body for it. No idea if the next guy will. I think with two new coordinators and a new QB - plus other new coaches and a rebuilt OL and secondary - the lack of spring ball puts us behind others except UTSA who is dealing with a new staff also. One plus is that we were unlikely to have a great OOC anyway given the level of competition so it gives us time to prepare for conference play. And that is what really matters.
  13. I think the general rules being discussed were they had to test upon arrival. Plus the research I have read indicates antibodies don’t develop for a couple weeks after the infection. (Paraphrasing) So most likely if they have antibodies they should not have an active infection. Hopefully they swabbed every player and are keeping them distanced and in small groups.
  14. 1-3 in the OOC portion of the schedule is very likely. 2-2 would almost be miraculous given we will be breaking in a new QB behind a rebuilt OL and almost a completely new secondary. In conference I like our chances against UTEP, Rice, Charlotte, UTSA and MUTS. Not so much against SoMiss, LaTech or UAB. So if all those five conference games go our way plus the FCS game, that puts us at 6-6 with a good foundation of young talent at most positions. I would take that after last year. I have a hard time seeing much better than that. Not having spring ball makes it harder to guess so who knows?
  15. Yes all of this needs to be done in concert with prison reform, increased funding for education and community programs, drug policy reform, mental health service reform, increased emphasis on community policing, legal reforms (removing no-knock warrants), affordable housing, congressional action on military surplus to police, and taking care of the over 2 million veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan who are often vulnerable to the above issues.

  17. Gaddie for sure. In fact the entire secondary. Our inability to cover last year shifted the entire defense strategy away from the attack mode of the previous year. No pressure on the QB led to even worse coverage.
  18. Weird. And I saw a recent study that said around 40 percent of cases were from asymptomatic spread. https://time.com/5848949/covid-19-asymptomatic-spread/?amp=true&__twitter_impression=true To me it seems strange to make such a broad statement when research is ongoing. I need to listen to the video from the WHO to see how they framed this. Edit: just saw the above post saying they hedged their bets
