  1. Speaking of lower classification football programs, as Rick was, Div. II West Texas A&M drew 14,150 fans to their game this last weekend.
  2. This mornings Austin American Statesman has an article on Coach Malone.
  3. Just like the past. UT and I'm sure others ,recruited players just to keep them away from rivals.
  4. I didn't hear them say so ,but I assume the officials were Mountain West officials. This would include the clock operator. The clock operator did stop the clock on the disputed play, then after a few seconds started it again when he decided the other official was really telling him to keep the clock running. The winning play was a pick play. Still glad TCU won. I'm also for Texas teams when they play out of state teams. this helps recruiting Texas players to stay in state.
  5. I was very impressed with Tulsa last sat. The TE (Miller?) is outstanding as is their QB. Their defense held OU to 17 pts for over three and 1/2 quarters . And, remember their best WR and KR did not play. I expect quite a tussel sat. night.
  6. By being the only game in town that weekend maybe Bryan Custer (?) channel 11 will somehow find out about the game . Last weekend he talked and giggled about every other game in the area.
  7. Did anyone else take note ( same poll ) four of the bottom seven are Sun Belt teams ? Strenth of scheldue will eventually lower our position, since the poll is based on this factor.
  8. Wow, Pflugerville had 5 players listed . Although one has committed to A&M maybe UNT can use their Pflugerville football players to heip recruit the others.
  9. Great post Rick. Thanks for not including a uniform report.
  10. Received my game tickets and parking passes in the mail yesterday. Game resolution looks like it will be done today according to AM newspapers.
  11. Speaking of cuts , Coach Mumme could use one . What's with the hair?
  12. The city of Tyler is now hosting 3500 displaced persons. All hotels, motels are full.
  13. FAU was a member of the Sun Belt Conf. last year just ineligilble for the title, and a D1 school
  14. With so many new and untested players, it will hurt team preparations for MTS. I'm sure the coaches would have liked the opportunity to see how the players performed under game conditions.
  15. Pflougerville High defeated Kerrville 21 - 7. Had 3 touchdowns called back ( 136 yds. in penalties). Antwan Cobb had 130 yards rushing, also a 64 yd. and a 44 yd. TD called back. Cobb is 6'1" 210 lbs. his twin brother is a lineman 6' 2" 275 lbs. Their qb has committed to Baylor and one of their lber's to Tech.
  16. Check Evan Robertson's photo. He looks a little different on the field. Also , noticed Joey B. is still on the roster.
  17. Why Lineberry when Foster graded out as the best O lineman last year ?
  18. Not until 30,000 show up at home games and all the old members of the WAC are considered for membership.
  19. There is a big difference between a commitment and signing. Ask UT about a certain QB last year. There are no early signings. Texas is still persuing 10-15 players for next year, they will not be able to take all of them plus the 21 or so already commited. It will result in an interesting signing period next winter. North Texas has done a good job of finding players not on the radar of some of the top rated schools. Since the other schools are now commiting to players early , players that suddenly develope during their senior year will be looking for some place to play other than the UT's and A&M's which will have already offered their ships. Plus those players bumped when a school over commits, such as UT.
  20. Heard Dave Campbell on the radio the other day, he stated that he had talked to pro scout that had viewed alot of teams during spring training and that without a doubt LSU had looked the best.
  21. Ga. Southern would be a nice addition to the Sun Belt, record ,location ,both very nice. North Texas needs a travel partner to come aboard also, someone in our region.
  22. Did anyone else notice on the SMU board the post about James Battle leaving TCU? He was slated to be the backup to Gunn this season.
  23. I've seen all the players listed in the poll play, they were and are very good backs. However, the greatest running back I've ever seen play was Pistol Pete Pedro who played at West Texas from 1960 to 1964. Pete injured a leg while playing NT his Sr. year and never fully recovered. None the less he was drafted by the New England Patriots, and stayed on their roster for several years, never played due to the leg injury.
  24. Strength of scheldue,as a factor, went away last year.
  25. PC will be drafted. production, prodution
