  1. Me too! WKU give you the impression (warranted or not) that they don't do things half-assed. They are committed to their BB program, have been for years, and now they are going to show the same committment to 1A football. Good addition for the Belt...though I fear them passing us by in a few years.
  2. Exactly...this argument is tired. How could we possibly recruit a young player (i.e quarterback) to run this team? I mean Justin Willis at SMU is a senior right? He's not got their QB situation under control. No freshman or rs freshman make contributions on any other teams in 1A right?
  3. Fact is, I actually envy where SMU is right now. They could have let the setback at the beginning of the season (ie loss to us) destroy a potentially successful year. To their credit, they buckled down and have put themselves into position to get to a bowl berth. They have begun to take advantage of their opportunities...which is more than I can say for us at this point. Not an SMU fan by any stretch...but I certainly won't discount the direction that they are currently heading. We've had opportunities to build off of the SMU win and make a statement this season. We've squandered them all and we deserve to be in the situation that we're currently in.
  4. My parents live up in Bentonville and my dad was telling me about this kid a couple of weeks ago (about how we should be recruiting him). Initially ASU was recruiting him but my dad has since told me that since he's had such a spectacular season that Arkansas is now recruiting him as well. He's also garnering interest from schools like Memphis. If we had been in the running early, we may have had a shot...but this kid's stock has risen significantly as the high school football season has progressed.
  5. That's the biggest thing with NT basketball. We have to win more consistently. It's tough at the begining of the basketball season for attendance because of the Holiday season and the fact that football is still top of mind for most fans. In years past, we've been rearing up to go the New Orleans Bowl (not like that's going to be a problem this year) and people are just not into hoops at that point. Sad but true. This year is different. Football is terrible for the second year in a row and NT has a very favorable schedule this year in BB in order to make some noise early. They have (on paper) the best team under JJ, so they must make the most of it and win as many early games as possible. People will show up to the pit to see a winning product. In JJ's first year when he was winning a bunch of games towards the end of the year, the Pit had several games of 3, 000+ in attendance. That was to see a team that was around .500 that year. We just need some consistency with the winning...especially at home and I think people will be plesantly surprised by the turnout. NT fans want something to hang their hat on and since football has "spit the bit", Basketball has a chance to really capatilize on that.
  6. My dad actually mentioned this name to me the other day. Jim Harbaugh sounds pretty interesting to me. Seems like he's been having some success in the coaching ranks. Maybe he would have a better shot at landing/developing a big time quarterback for our program. But as Quoner pointed out...would he be interested in leaving San Diego. It would certainly be worth a call in my book.
  7. Not really for me. This last year and a half has been really dissapointing. We should have (and currently should be) taken/ing steps forward with our football program coming off of 3 1/2 years of successful football. We seem to have squandered that opportunity and are now not even competing at a high level in our conference anymore. The OOC schedule can no longer be blamed for consistently slow starts to seasons and we have failed to capitalize on winning these much more managable OOC games. The football program has the worst offense in America and no longer a dominating defense to mask our deficiencies. Our special teams have also been sloppy at best. We need to move in a new direction.
  8. I would say that the Belt as a whole is having their best year by far. The way many teams have played some of the "bigger" boys this year as well as some decent OOC wins is proof of this. Plus at this point in the season we already have 3 teams in the conference with .500 records or better (not that that's something to write home about) but in years past we would have had one or none with over a .500 win percentage by this point. The Belt is getting better slowly but surely (I still want CUSA for us). Have no idea which NT team shows up this weekend...I think we're gonna have our hands full with ASU.
  9. Good win for A State. We've got our work cut out for us next week. At least the Belt teams across the board are much more competitive in OOC games (even managing some pretty good wins here and there) than we have been in the past few years. By far the strongest the Belt has been since it's inception.
  10. Seconded...We'd need to offer him a pretty good base salary and probably load it with some incentives (ala the Mike Price deal at UTEP), but I couldn't think of a better person to help rejuvinate the program here. He's got great recruiting ties in Texas and would easily be the class of the Sunbelt and one of the best Non-BCS coaches immediately. I would imagine that an inspired hire like this would rejuvinate the fanbase here and that season ticket sales and donations would exponentially increase.
  11. That's how you win OOC games with teams that have a comparable talent level. Didn't you get that memo?
  12. Exactly. This was his deal all last year...couldn't get the play off on time and burned up valuable timeouts. He may be trying hard, but he is clearly not the answer our offensive concerns.
  13. Just wishful thiinking I don't even know what to say at his point...How the hell does a team come out this flat when playing a Tulsa team that handed us our worst home loss ever?
  14. Hopefully the Meager experiment will come to an end after this one.
  15. Another burned timeout...Meager kills me when he does this. It happened all the time last year and obviously hasn't gotten any better.
  16. Love the time out burned here We can't even get plays to the line of scrimmage on time.
  17. Just a terrible gameplan overall...turning into the 2005 game all over again. Very dissapointed here.
  18. Absolutely...this is starting to get bad. Our defense is spending entirely too much time on the field thanks to our amazing offensive gameplan.
  19. Back to the same ole crap offensively...we have absolutely nothing going.
  20. Just like I was worried about...It was only a matter of time before Tulsa's offense started to click. We squandered some good opportunities in the first half and may have shot ourselves in the foot...hopefully not.
