  1. This is really discouraging news. It seemed that in the early part of Summer workouts we were hearing lots of positive things about Jamario's health as well as performance on the field. I'm hoping for the best, but this was not the kind of thing I wanted to read about.
  2. I'll be stopping by with a couple of friends.
  3. True. I'm now eagerly anticipating Quoner starting up a uniform talk thread.
  4. I am serious...and don't call me Shirley. Oh wait, you didn't. *fails at shoe horning in an Airplane reference* Anyone feel like setting this one up for me so I can spike it home?
  5. He still feeling good about his speed even after bulking up? I'm excited to see what he can do this year. Sounds like the adjustment to DE is going well.
  6. I'll continue to help this prediction come true. Who's with me?
  7. I'm enjoying the serious posts being made in this thread.
  8. Agreed on Banks. When Dickey started running out the "Green Team" last year, I could not figure out why Banks had not been getting more playing time. He was huge and looked impressive. The entire "Green Team" line just seemed to outperform the 1st team when they were given a chance. I think Banks should be a major contributor this year.
  9. Proctor has always been a favorite of mine...You can always count on him knowing where the best "Salad Bar" in town is.
  10. Agreed. That scrimmage report sounds more exciting than anything that happened in our games (outside of SMU) all of last year.
  11. I give the advantage to the 03' defense almost across the board. You make a good point about the depth of this years linebacking corp but I still feel that the Hurd, Casey, Spencer lineup played really well together and made up for any lack of athleticism with smart play and intestinal fortitude. The Booger/Awasom combination was truly something to watch. I just don't see us currently having a guy in this years lineup with the potential to truly take over a game (like Kennedy did against NMSU and MTSU in 02') on the defensive line. Stevenson looks like a beast this year and hopefully he can show us something special. Finally, Jones and Buckles really caused a lot of problems for opposing teams. I believe in the 03' season, Jones and Buckles were listed in many publications as a "Top 5" safety combination in the nation. They could really lay the wood (insert Quoner comment ) to receivers and tight ends coming across the field. On paper, the 07' defense has some really good talent, but I really can't see them being the machine that was the 03' squad.
  12. I keep wanting to get irritated at these articles but I just can't. We played terrible football for the last two years and that's what the prognosticators are basing their previews and pre-season rankings on. I just can't wait till we actually take the field this year and start showing what we're really capable of.
  13. This sounds very encouraging. I hoping for a really big year from Jamario. When he's on, he's as dynamic a runner as they come.
  14. Forgot about the Roman kid transferring here. He seems like he would make a logical choice.
  15. That's definately true. Having 3 metroplex D-1 schools within an hour of one another just screams for a series every year...sad that conference affiliation seems to keep this from happening. Maybe try to sell the Cotton Bowl on playing these games there? I know they need games.
  16. Thought I'd try to bring a football related topic today: With JQ being gone this year...Who are his logical replacements? I think kick and punt returning is often undervalued in terms of how much of an impact it can make on the outcome of a game. Someone like Korey Washington seems like a likely replacement if he's got good hands. Do you think someone like Devin Cox could be effective?
  17. I honestly believe it's because Bennett knows that a home-home series with NT-SMU makes sense. Low travel costs, increased home attendance for both teams, and increased regional interest. I don't think that SMU can look at anyone as an "easy win" these days. Now if we could get TCU on our schedule every year along with SMU, we'd be in good shape.
  18. I give you credit where it's due...you are persistent. Poking the hornet's nest with a stick is always humorous.
  19. I don't think it's really fair to make blanket statements about who's definately gonna be "our guy" at QB this year. All we know is that Meager was in the lead for the position coming out of Spring Ball. He and Wilson both had their moments in the Spring Game and both have their strenghts and weaknesses. I don't really think that it's fair to say that Danny never made any plays while quarterbacking last year. I recall a couple of nicely thrown balls on fade routes to JQ and he made some really nice runs in a few of those games as well. If rumors are to be believed, DD had his QB's (Meager and Wilson both) so scared to run/improvise, that I really feel like he took away a threat that each of those guys posess for fear of being benched. All of our QB's had problems getting plays off in time and I blame that on the coaching staff and system more than I do that kids at QB...so I don't really lay the blame at Meager's feet for this. Bottom line: All of our QB's that played last year made some terrible plays/mistakes...these were not just limited to Danny, he just gets most of the blame because he was DD's chosen guy last year. I expect with Dodge's guidance, we'll see a marked improvement in every QB. Wilson, I believe, has the most raw "game breaking" potential out of the guys who we had on the roster in Spring. I don't know if he was polished enough in Spring for Dodge to put his faith in him as "his guy", however, that could change here shortly. Vizza is the X factor in all of this. He could come in immediately and wow everyone. It's been reported that he's been working really hard this summer to prepare for the upcoming season. Hopefully it pays off.
  20. I'll truly miss having them on the schedule.
