Who ever said anything about acceptable? I am pretty sure I didn't. What I did say and what I have said is that a coach should be given time to fully implement and teach his style of defense before we start demanding he be fired. Yes his defense was simplistic at OU. I am 100% positive that was the plan by both him and Coach Dodge. Since the beginning of the season winning the Belt was the plan not beating OU and Arkansas. Did you ever think that maybe they chose not use all of the defensive plays all at once but phase them in over the first 3-5 games? If you look at the play calling and defensive schemes used against ULM there was a drastic change from the first game of the season at OU. I know everyone is pissed about giving Dickey 9 years but jesus give Dodge and company more than 9 months. I am sure if a change was TRUELY warranted Dodge himself would make it. I implore everyone on this board to have some patience with this team and this staff, enjoy the season, and see the bright future that is ahead of Mean Green Football istead of being so short sighted. The big plan isn't if we can beat Troy next week it is winning the belt on a regular basis and taking top teams like OU down and Dodge and Co. know that and are working for that.

This game was obviously a fluke. He got lucky and some guys over played their talent level. Dodge himself was probably calling all the defensive plays. It couldn't possibly be that he was intalling his defense little by little over the beginning of the season. No way. We saw everything he had to offer in the first 5 games. Fire him now! Get real people you can never tell what a coach has to offer in the first 5 games so stop being so over dramatic and calling for heads after 5 games of a new regime. I hope this game and the rest of this season teaches some of you hot heads a lesson in patience.

Don't forget the Houston game a couple of years back. That one had to be over 3/4 full and easily the most exciting and loudest UNT game I have attended.

If you thought she jacked up the economy the first time around wait until she is really president. The basics are once an economic policy is enacted by a president it takes roughly 3-4 years to fully impact the economy, so 94-98 best years, 4 years before Bush put in economic policies 4 years previous to 98 was when Clinton put his in. In 98 the economy starts its decline. '00 Bush Lite gets in office '04 is when the economy started to pull out of its recession. '07 has the stock markets breaking records.

We did get beat by 5-5-2 Oklahoma so whose to say 4-5-2 Nebraska isn't better?

It is also they made this move knowing they would have problems this season while knowing it would pay off in the future. If you look at the recruiting they are doing they are going after faster guys to play in this scheme. Might as well install the defensive scheme you plan on using when you know you are going to have a building/rebuilding year than wait and rebuild the offense this year and the defense next year. Go through all the growing pains at once that way you get to a well coached overall team faster. On the knee jerk subject, there are a lot of people on this board that need to chill the *f* out and let the man work. SLC didn't win over night and neither will NT. The strides this team has made vs. the teams of the last 2 years is incredible and TD should be respected for playing not only the best athletes reguardless of class status but also for cleaning out athletes that were not team players and trying to build a team of class acts. Lets not be like ND and throw away a great coach before he has a chance to win with what he builds.

Yes we lost to ULL but look at the freaking bright side. Vizza got some very valuble game experience and looked better and better as the game progressed. Once he settles in he is going to be one helluva QB. Had the turnovers and penalties not been there we pretty much would have mauled ULL. Just look at the stats - Total Yards 527 to 414 - First Downs 25 to 14 - TOP 40:36 to 19:24. The glaring error of th whole game though was the Turn overs Mean Green 4 ULL 2. Also if we had a kicker that was experienced and had been able to kick field goals on all those 4th downs that would have amounted to atleast 12 extra points plus we wouldn't have started the game out in a hole we had to work out of because of the missed extra point. Moreland just has no range beyond 37-38 yards. Watching the game last night I saw a team with a lot of fight in it that rallied to Vizza in the 4th quarter and who wanted to win. ULM next week is going to walk into a storm at Fouts Field. I just hope we can learn to stop the run. I also particulary liked the shot of of TD at the end of the game. He looked pissed that we lost and I imagine that there will be a bunch of linemen working on procedure next week not to mention LBers working on tackling. One thing I can say about our defense that every team has been able to expose is they are slow. Very very slow. We need more guys that can move sideline to sideline and get to a QB, even one as quick as ULLs, before he breaks containment. Our third down efficiency improved dramatically with Vizza this week as well as on 4th down. He completed 61.5% of his passes he threw 3 TDs and 3 INTs but a 1 to 1 ratio is better than what we have seen out of Meager and if I remember right thats about what Romo did against the Giants before he went on his tear. If we can get the presnap penalties down and the turnovers down to where the ratio is in our favor this could turn out to be a very good team by the end of the season bowl game or no bowl game. (disclaimer: no I am not comparing Vizza to Romo I am just saying it takes a QB at least a start to really find his groove and it looked like Vizza had by the end of the game)

Ease up on him we knew coming in there would be a learning curve for everyone and our D has definately improved as the season has progressed. Also facing 2 very good rushing attacks in a row will show if our D adapted from last week to this week.

Bunch of monkeys throwing darts... they don't even have Troy picked in bowl game. Troy will win the belt and play USM in the NOB and FAU will get an at large bid somewhere. I don't see any more than 2 teams making it. Though ASU has a good shot at at least qualifying.

Look on the bright side, at least we have the best looking logo of the bunch.

No, this is by no means our worst team ever. It may be our greenest both in coaches and in players, but by no means the worst. There were some pretty bad teams between 80-00 and the '05 and '06 teams were no jewels. How quickly everyone is forgetting how well the team played against SMU and how much better the D looked against an FAU team that put 40+ on Minnesota. Had it not been for a few last minute mistakes by Meager in both of those games we could easily be 2-2 and this thread would have never come up. Damn me for thinking our fairweather fans would shut up for at least a season once Dickey was gone and let Dodge come in clean house and build a winning football program. Do you think Blakely built Troys program in 1 offseason? and look at Schnelly it took him 4 years to get FAU to a respectable D1A status. Have some fricken faith in Todge and let the man do his job. This class of recruits looks to be our best since returning to D1A football and we have a lot of very talented freshman waiting in the wings for their chance to make an impact. Yeah the team is going through some growing pains but come on if you can't see the bright future that is ahead of NT Football you need to have your eyes checked. Now please shut the hell up for the rest of the season and give the man a chance to work and grow and teach before you condemn this team as the "worst NT football team ever" because its not by a long shot.

Well they sure seem to think the Hogs are as good as OU and we are as bad as we were 4 weeks ago. I don't think this game will at all go like CFN is predicting. It will be a shootout all the way a la UL-MTSU. We can't stop the run they can't stop the pass. 55-35 Hogs.

And mine as well... I always thought Phillips looked better in the game and DM looked better in practice and I will still stick to that.
