  1. OK, here are some thoughts..... RED SHIRTS – the 4-game rule only for a player in his first year at a school. No more players after two to three years red-shirting COACHING CHANGES – If a coach is fired (not talking contract not renewed) first-year underclassmen should get a one-time waiver to transfer. Definitely for HC, and I would extend to OC/DC and position coaches for Freshmen. On a purely maybe good for us … NO WAIT TRANSFER – Just as they can currently do from FBS to FCS, a player could transfer from a P5 to G5 one time. I would give this to underclassmen only.
  2. Sorry I forgot to remember you know more about people than they know about themselves. Must be nice to be even half of what you think you are.
  3. Once again, regardless of his output, Mason not considered. He proved them wrong and made it at UNT and I hope he is able to prove them wrong at the next level.
  4. TOTALLY SPECULATION - I wonder if in any way might be that UNT wanted him to have surgery and he did not want to?
  5. Question. What are the "rules" for a schools medical responsibilities" If he leaves the program, is UNT responsible for his medical treatment if he decides to have surgery later? If he goes to a new school and, god forbid, gets hurt on the first day, I assume they are responsible?
  6. No issue. Each of us is entitled to his/her own opinion. To be honest, at the end of the day what this particular person does will most likely never have a direct impact on me. For me it's just a case not agreeing with he way the transfers are happening. As I said before, if you want to transfer because your not getting playing time, or perhaps the HC was fired then it's one thing, but to transfer because you feel your better than the place you are at is another.
  7. Kade at Ole Miss or one of his future schools? I say that party in jest. Seems, and I could be wrong, he will not be there long if he does not become the starter.
  8. "New Norm" doesn't necessarily make it right. It just helps to continue empowering the "Me is greater than "We". Some are all for it, other not so much so.
  9. If this did happen, and he was no longer welcomed back and his scholarship was not renewed many people would say how unfair UNT is.
  10. I think one of the problem people have is a concern that schools, like UNT and other G5 and FBS, becoming resting points for players who excel. The UNT staff puts in the time and effort to work with him and then another schools stands to benefit without the investment. It is a dangerous precedent that could get out of hand. Again, since day one I have not been a fan of the transfer portal; IMO just a bad system.
  11. Wish him well, but he chose to leave my school, and I choose to move on from him . If he plays on the next level somewhere doubt he references/credit UNT. Again, just my person opinion, but he left to find what he thought were greener pastures. He, in all honestly, and perhaps correctly, thought he was better than UNT.
  12. So here's a question on a slow Friday - 1) If a player transfers out that was great at UNT should he still be considered for the schools HOF? 2) What if that same player goes to another school, gets drafter, and gives the acknowledgement to that school in the NFL? Does it change your mind?
  13. I wish him well, but to be honest, I'm not a fan of transferring to see if the grass is greener. Not just in our case but other as well. It's one thing if your not getting playing time, or maybe a coaching change, but when a G5 player has a good career and seems to be wanting to test the greener field, not so much. I would never, for example, have wanted to see Mason transfer. I think it would have damaged his legacy. I know more and more people want the player to almost be able to come and go as they please, but I, personally, believe it is taking away form the game.
  14. For Example The "Harry Miers GoMeanGreen.com" field at Apogee Stadium and The Bret Vito Parking Space at the Parking Lot at Apogee Stadium
  15. "Good Grief"? On one hand we complain that other conferences and people do not have a higher opinion of UNT athletics and on the other hand we boast of this being a HOF standard? Disagree with me all you want but perception is important and history is important. People don't understand why player "X" would go to another school instead on UNT and we have to understand outside of those of us who will follow and support UNT regardless, the perception of UNT was very low and has slowly started gaining traction in the past couple of years. And absolutely no disrespect to the players on those teams, outside of UNT fans and other Sun Belt fans there was very little excitement over what they achieved. That might piss some of you off but it's true. We were a good to very good team in what was considered one of the worst conference in a long time.
  16. One would think. But like all things associated with Government/Education I am sure they will come up with a way to "officially" have no profit.
  17. Most kids that get an SEC/P5 offer are ready to go and tear up the world, especially now days when everyone is told how great they are. Look around at FBS, G5, and other conferences and you will see a lot of players who were recruited to P5 programs and barely, if ever played. I have watched some FBS games were each team has multiple P5 transfers.
  18. Starting to think he looked around saw what was here and what was coming at maybe did not think he would ever see the field. Wish him well but he's gone so goodbye
  19. I believe his coaching record was something like 42 and 65. If you think that is worthy of a Hall of Fame career then I guess we can agree to disagree what a Hall of Fame standard should be.
  20. I'm sure BV knows a lot of what is going on well before most of us. However, unlike those of us on a fan board who can write anything they want without regard, BV has to wait until he has more to go on.
  21. Think it probably has a lot to do with the papers site going from free to paid. BV would link his stories. Many can no longer access
  22. Good points. We might be the only school were a coach with DD's record is in their HOF and he got a field named after him after he was fired. This is a great example of the issue UNT has with our historical perception. Some people need to understand how our program was perceived over the years
  23. I feel for UTEP. It actually seems to be getting worse. I do wish them well (except when they play us). Also, it does not help the conference for any of the teams to struggle like this.
