  1. Lipstick on a pig. I really don't know what everyone's problem with Fouts is. Once they threw that beautiful coat of primer on last year….. it’s like a brand new stadium as far as I'm concerned. Much better than the old Fouts that used to have some semblance of a school color on it.
  2. A couple of great quotes about Avery's new dealership: "He should have opened up a bus dealership so he'd have more of them to throw people under." "I bet he takes the best salesman off the floor the day before they have to meet quota for the year."
  3. Is it a given now that Paul Smith is a Jacksonville Jaguar?
  4. I'd say this is one non-football thread that does not deserve to be moved. It's sad that the we live in a world that superimposes the motives/intentions of our leaders on our troops. Although the majority of Americans look at this day as an excuse to miss work and get drunk(and I'll be enjoying both of these perks) I need look no further than my grandfather to understand how important this day really is.
  5. To be clear, I'm assuming there is a difference between bigger and sweeter. K-state would obviously be the bigger win. Beating a Big 12 team in a money game would be huge. Beating Tulsa on the other hand, with the history of what they did to our program the last time we met in Denton, would be sweeter.
  6. I was referring to the suggestion that he's going to be around another 10-15 years. I absolutely agree with him on the idea of a playoff.
  7. All throughout Happy Valley fans are discretely pulling their hair out. Meanwhile the rest of the Big Ten are fist pumping their arms off.
  8. I realize that as far as national recognition goes K-State would be the bigger victory, but in my opinion laying it on Tulsa would be sweeter. I remember our first home game about 3 years ago. We were coming off 3 straight NO Bowls. ESPN was on campus to nationally televise the game. Patrick and Jamario were both healthy and primed to become one of the most prolific rushing tandems in recent NCAA history. The Mighty Quinn had estaqblished himself as the premier WR in the conference. The stadium was (relatively) packed. And Tulsa just laid it to us....... Their f-ing TE went for about 150 yards and a touchdown for crying out loud. That was my 4th year at UNT and I can honestly say you could see a sharp contrast in the interest of the student body towards the program before and after that game. To me that game signified the end of SBC dominance. I would love nothing more this season than for UNT's upturn to begin with a sound whipping of those dirty Golden Hurricanes.
  9. I don't think anyone on here has disagreed with the idea that there needs to be more control over ownership. It's the idea that we should rid the world of the breed that is at the heart of the discussion.
  10. Maybe we could just put up with Fouts one more year and then return to playing the majority of our home games at the Cowboy's stadium. There's bound to be a couple weeks out of the year when Jerry doesn't have random game scheduled in that beautiful monstrosity. Oh.... I like pizza too.
  11. I'm not sure exactly where I fall on this argument. On one side, saying we should eliminate Pits is eerily close to "Politicians trying to take my guns away." Guns don't kill people...... Pits don't kill people... Pits and those responsible for the aggressiveness of the breed do. I hate the dogs. If I'm going out for a walk, or taking my Aussie to the dog park and I see one (especially one not on a leash), I immediately turn and head the opposite direction. I would tend to believe that the answer lies in the similarity of the issues revolving around gun control and Pits. I don't ever see the government stepping in and regulating the ownership of the breed, but there need to be much harsher consequences levied upon the owners of dogs involved violent incidents. Putting the dogs themselves down is not enough. The owners of animals that commit violent crimes must be held accountable. For those that do not recognize how terrible the statistics really are in comparing Pits to all other breeds here's a really eye opening study: http://www.dogbitelaw.com/Dog%20Attacks%20...6%20Clifton.pdf
  12. "For one reason or another, none of the SEC schools sweet-talked Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Louisiana-Lafayette, or North Texas into making a trip for cash." The guy is writing an article solely on the topic of SEC teams playing SB teams and he has no idea that we're making a road trip to "Death Valley" the third week of the season.
  13. I understand, and somewhat agree with what you are saying here but I don't think the idea of new 30K horseshoe stadium is all that bad. If UNT builds an attractive, state of the art 30K stadium rather than a less impressive bigger one I'd say thats a pretty good starting point. If or when the problem arises that it's not big enough, the prospect of filling in the horseshoe wouldn't be that daunting of an undertaking. Although I've not seen any plans, and I'm just going off what was in Vitto's blog, it sounds to me that the current idea is one of quality over size, with the ability to easily expand. I'm not holding my breath, but if this speculation is to be trusted I really like the direction it's going.
  14. I bet if he were to move to nose tackle he'd be a solid 1 star prospect....
  15. My guess would be that the next team with a W wins the series in 6. I'll be interested to see what SA can do on NO's home floor.
  16. How do you guys have time to patrol more than one school's board. I have enough trouble keeping up with this one...... Wish I had that kind of spare time.
  17. The Ticket's Great Game. They played baseball this year as opposed to hockey (Charity Challenger on Ice) or football (Quarterback Bowl). It was great to see two teams full of beer bellied, out of shape, average guys playing a legitimate baseball game. No soft pitch, no underhand, it was a hell of a show. The great Homer Bush and Rusty Greer were the managers. Greer stepped in to the box in the final inning and the crowd was going nuts. It was pretty sweet to get to see that unique batting stance of Rusty's one more time.
  18. Best ballgame I've been to in quite a while. I was really hoping Rusty would have gone yard though.
  19. Is weird that instead of being disgusted by the digging up of a corpse...... I find myself trying to figure out which hole in the skull I would have used as the carb back in the day?
  20. It's because they can more afford to pick and choose from the best of the best. UNT and schools like us on about the 4-5th tier of college athletics are forced to more heavily weigh the risks and rewards of taking what is leftover by the biggest of the boys. I appreciate what the NCAA is trying to do here, but all it's really doing is unleveling the playing field. I think we should be no more penalized for players transferring away and not graduating, than say UT, with players leaving for the draft and never graduating. Once they transfer away from our program what more can we do?
  21. I think Michael Redd, Corey Maggette, or Mike Miller, in that order of preference, could all be had for someone on the current roster.
