  1. Friday afternoon's practice was 100% Special Teams work.
  2. It appears that the team website roster is now close to completed. Most all of the players have new photos and their stats from the 2008 season are listed.
  3. George Dunham and Craig Miller were discussing college football rankings this morning on The Ticket. The subject of UNT being ranked 119 came up. George said he had been to a few August practices and feels they will be improved this season. George went on to say if UNT ends up at 119 at the finish of the season he will walk from Dallas to Denton.......in a dress!
  4. After seeing Monday nights's practice, I thought #15 Jamaal Jackson looked the most athletic.
  5. According to a Steven Bartolotta Green Gang Article on 8/3, all practices until 8/15 are open to the public. Today's practice at 3:30 PM is at the AC.
  6. I was impressed with the video I saw of Washington at the February signing night. He is a player!
  7. Incoming Freshman reported today, Veteran players report on Thursday and the first practice is Friday afternoon.
  8. I predict wins over Ohio, WKY, ULM and Army.
  9. Here is why I am optimistic: 1) Mike Nelson - DL 2) Shelton Gandy - Special Teams 3) Year 2 for the defensive players under Gary DeLoach 4) Full off season with Ausmus/Charr G 5) An experienced Offensive Line with plenty of depth 6) RB depth 7) More WR speed
  10. My wife and I will be there.
  11. I think a healthy Micah Mosley will do a great job this season with short yardage plays.
  12. That sounds like a good idea to put him at a Nose Guard type position in 3rd or 4th and short or goal line situations to clog up the middle. With the depth at O Line I am not sure he will see much playing time.
  13. This is also a dream series for me. I am a native Iowan and attended the University of Iowa when Coach Fry was hired.
  14. I do plan on showing up at the Pourhouse mixer on Thursday wearing a North Texas shirt I bought at Voertman's a few weeks ago.
  15. I am hoping that probably the most athletic and talented defensive player we have, Eddrick Gilmore, has found himself academically and is eligible the entire season. I really feel that with the arrival of Coach Nelson, Eddrick is very capable of a great season. I am hoping that the JUCO DT's will make an impact so that Gilmore can play at DE.
  16. at Ball L Ohio W at Bama L MUTS W at La Laf L Fl Atl L at Troy L WKU W ULM L at Fl Intl L Army W at Ark St L 4-8
  17. The stadium announcement starts at 1PM.
  18. I already picked up my favorite beverage today and am ready to arrive around 12-12:30 PM tomorrow. Suppose to be around 75 degrees at game time making for a great day!
  19. I agree with the Lifer on "when hope springs eternal" and tomorrow is the best time to do this.
  20. I was at the scrimmage on Monday. I did not really pay attention to the linebackers much so I can't give an opinion on who played better. What I did notice is that Jeremy did not look all that big to be playing D1 linebacker and probably needs to gain about 15 lbs. However, from him being a QB in high school and a Safety in his redshirt freshman year he has to be very athletic. I am sure summer conditioning with Strength and Conditioning Coach Ausmus will help him gain "good' weight. He probably will be able to overcome the lack of size with speed, athleticism and ability to read the field. I too am a fan of Warren. Great QB pressure on the last play at Western Kentucky including him getting face planted on about the 10 yard line leading the way for Tobi to the end zone!
  21. Brett Vito reported in the Dallas Morning News this morning that today's practice is a scrimmage that starts at 3:30PM at Fouts. I am going to try to make it if I can get out of work early enough. Hopefully other Mean Green fans will be there to support the team.
  22. For all the reasons others have mentioned this is certainly a positive for the team. I hope we can be competitive in at least three of the four non conference games. Maybe the appeal of Army and it not being Thanksgiving weekend will help for a 20,000 + attendance for our last home game. Ironically the Mean Green has played good the last two years in the last home game in front of small crowds against WKY and Ark St. I believe the attractive schedule, the addition of D Line Coach Nelson, the Special Teams coaching change to Gandy, continued improvement by the O Line and the influx of JUCO WR speed causes hope for a more competitive 2009 season! 23. I have been to three practices this spring. I agree with Side Show Joe that Riley has a big time arm.
  24. From what Brett Vito earlier reported: 3/23(make up date from earlier cancelled practice), 3/24, 3/26, 3/27 (Fouts), 3/30, 3/31, 4/2, 4/3 (Fouts) and 4/4 (Spring Game)....I believe all practices start between 3 - 3:30 PM. I have not seen a time for the spring game.
