  1. Eric "The Elf" Morris, #12 receiver for Texas Tech is fun to watch.
  2. Thanks Dr. Williams for taking time to give us your side of the story. We appreciate you and the band's efforts.
  3. Rick, Saw you getting interviewed by George Riba, but did not see it in his piece. I was just curious as to what he asked and what were your responses. I wish you had made it on, as I like your new helmet and feel you representative of the school spirit that a lot of us want the football world to know that it does exist at North Texas. Thanks!
  4. I liked Dodge's call asking for a replay at the end of the 2nd quarter. It showed a willingness not to give up, even though he knew it was over. Jimmy Johnson went 1-16 his first year, and everybody said Jerry Jones made a mistake hiring a college coach. Once he got "his" guys, look what happened. Other than it being a blowout, we had a good turnout. Forget this, lets go beat SMU!
  5. Rick, Thanks for all your hard work over the past several years. We look forward to a GREAT FUTURE FOR THE MEAN GREEN. See you at the cookout.
  6. Now that would be something that is not done anywhere else.....maybe we should e-mail Tim Crouch and get his input.
  7. I think Todd Dodge's recruiting success will be a big plus for the basketball program. Jocks stick together, and perhaps some of the good basketball players will follow their football buddies to NT.
  8. Rick- great response plan. FYI, Dale Hansen said on the 10:00 PM broadcast that Barry Switzer was at Valley Ranch yesterday morning (FYI, he was serious). NO, I did not take it that Switzer would come back, but I wondered after he said this if Jerry Jones was talking to him about guaging Stoop's interest in an NFL job. Jones needs to do something to re-energize a dejected fan base after such high hopes at the beginning of December. I know taxpayer's are building the new stadium, but there are still seats and suites to be sold.
  9. I know that Briles had a year at Tx Tech before going to Houston, but many people don't take that into consideration as they think he jumped right from the high school ranks like Coach Dodge. Anyway, how many high school coaches if any did he put on his first staff at Houston? I think if the coaches can work together, and teach the players so that they believe in the system, then it won't make any difference. No big deal, just curious.
  10. Good points! I think to get the best athletes, you have to run the wide open offense. Kids don't want to play in a boring scheme....they don't do it when they are playing NCAA Football/Madden on their video games, so I don't think it excites them to be on a team that plays a Buick ball style when they have a choice.
  11. Harry, Please add me....I am a season ticket holder and member of the Mean Green Club. Thank you.
  12. YES, THANKS FOR CORRECTING ME. I hope he will now consider UNT. I got carried away because I cannot stand Baylor, and let it cloud my thinking. Sorry for the that lapse.
  13. Baylor and it's coach have an inferior chip on their shoulder anyway. They do not belong in the Big 12, and are just trying to show some swagger. It is ashamed that is at the expense of an 18 year old kid. I hope he signs w/ Houston and has a great college career. He'll be more successful in the next four years than Guy Morris.
  14. I agree w/ UNTFan23, TX and USC was what it was suppose to be. Vince Young had a great night and Reggie Bush didn't, that was a big difference. I thought on Monday, w/ what Bama offered Saban that there was no hope for the mid-majors and smaller programs to compete in the current BCS format. Thankfully, Boise kept the hopes alive for the future of not only our program, but for the other smaller programs that BCS schools stare down their noses at.
  15. What about the small schools around here like Celina? There have got to be some overlooked players in those towns that could succeed under Dodge. I understand he has had some undersized teams at Southlake.
  16. It could be that they will go ahead and announce Dodge. Who knows, maybe Southlake officials have said if your going, let us know. They need to get a new coach in for the off season program and spring training even if they promote someone currently on the staff. It would be an added motivation for the Dragons to send Dodge out a winner if they knew he was going to leave. Also, Dodge may realize that waiting another couple of weeks will set back recruiting because prospects don't at least know who the new coach will be. So, maybe the hands in the decision to hire Dodge have been pushed, and it is time to make it known.
  17. I remember him being a huge fan and supporter of UNT, especially during the Fry days when I was growing up. Age had slowed him down lately, but I am sure his enthusiasm did not waiver. God bless he and his family.
  18. Dickey could also look to Larry Coker, after he was fired at Miami. He was real classy, calling for unity in the program including especially asking for the support of former players. You know inside Coach Coker was hurting, just as anyone would when they lose their job. I wish Dickey had put in as much energy in recruiting and playcalling as his has at his mudslinging game over the past few weeks!
  19. I wonder if he is big on keeping his facts straight. This is the second time I have a seen a story from the Houston Chronicle that says MM played for the University of Texas. The other article says he played on the 1969 National Championship team. I wonder if he wrote a manifesto to the Chronicle, letting them know that he played for North Texas. FYI, if you visit his store, you would never know he was a UNT alumnae. He has walls for everything from Elvis to parrots to Houston sports. The only thing noticeable about UNT is an 8 x 10 autographed picture of Darrell Dickey in his Gallery Furniture hat hanging above the exit as you walk out.
  20. Just glad the president did not invite him up to the press box for the 2nd half. Congrats Johnny !
  21. The Green Brigade has been great. FYI, the director is a UNT grad, or so they announce him as such! I think that is cool.
  22. My son and I went to the bonfire last night. As you said Rick, it was well attended. The only drinks all saw were Monster drinks giving out samples. Did anybody else here Dickey when the team took the stage? I thought his speech lacked any real enthusiasm. No wonder he can't get a team ready to play. He invited everyone to the game and asked that it be "rock n roll loud". I thought it would be a good trade off if he would show some "rock n roll offense" in he and Ramon's play calling. FYI, his welcome was less than enthusiastic by the people there. No booing that I heard, but very little cheering/applause for him. I will stop here, could go on and on about the coaching. It was really cool when the cannon went off at the start of the bonfire. I thought the band was good too. Thanks for your work Rick! GO MEAN GREEN!
  23. Sure is a long lunch.....we are on pins and needles.
  24. So Dickey will not be fired if he wins another conference championship? What about his OOC record?
