  1. I must have misread. I thought it was the sister who told the police about the pot deal.
  2. good stuff in here. I never liked guns. I always thought a ban would be the only way to deal with it, and was completely on CBL's side of things...until my 'rents and sister experienced a home invasion. I still don't like them, but I have an appreciation for the need. A couple thoughts: All the education in the world doesn't prevent the accidents. That's why they are called accidents. But an accident with a knife is not likely to mean death as much as an accident with a gun: "Kid accidentally slits wrist" or "Brother cuts sister's throat in a harmless game of tag." are not likely to turn up as headlines anytime soon. {I'm already counting down the minutes until the counterpoint includes a link for one such real life incident to try and prove my point wrong.] I think the need to own a gun by a good, law abiding civilian boils down to our basic instinct to survive. This issue will never go away as long as we are discussing a government's role in controlling/limiting a fundamental value/instinct we are born with. I don't own one now and won't anytime soon, but it weighs heavily on my mind. Besides, a bat and a knife are hella cheaper anyways. "Guns don't kill people, people do." "I think the gun helps." "BANG BANG! RAT TAT TAT!!"
  3. A player immediately kicks ass and WARRENts more PT when their parents go on the road trips.

  5. I wonder how they traced this to him? A bullet? I am curious and hope they can elaborate on all this.
  6. What is the betting line that we don't finish last in the FBS in scoring defense again? I suppose it depends a lot on our offense's ability to not only continue moving the ball well between the 20s, but also finish off long sustained drives. Can Todge adopt the philosophy to attack defenses rather than just take what they give us?
  7. I apologize, GrandGreen, I was misleading and could have articulated better. "Big Joe" was his nickname in college and that is what I meant to imply. I am aware he was not "Mean" Joe until he made the pros.
  8. Our Mean Green moniker was coined by Sidney Sue Graham, wife of then-AD (who has recently passed away), in the late '60s. Joe Greene was a junior back then, and the head coach was Rod Rust who took over for the retired Odis Mitchell. Hayden Fry was the first to market it, and in fact I think he claims he originated it in his [auto?]biography. However, it was before his time and clearly not his doing. Says Randy Galloway: I did some research on this and I don't think the confusion will ever go away. Sidney came up with the term rooting for Big Joe (that was his nickname while he was here), but never intended for the team to be named after him. I think there was a figurative exclamation point "moment" in the marketing department on this name and what it could mean (pun not intended) for us. I can only speculate, but this moniker might not have stuck without Fry's on-the-field success and media-savvy thinking. here ya go
  9. Is this like the Mexican thread that got Tasty, Q, and P1 temp-banned?
  10. The guy had a system that worked in College Station and El Paso. I don't know why it failed in Kentucky. I was such a BG homer. I am sorry it didn't work out for him.
  11. Hard to complain about DJ playing the way he did at the end of the year. I hope that if JJ was sitting on a scholly fence between a pass-PG or a bigger C, then this solidifies the C as a bigger priority.
  12. Clearly, a UNT alumn living in Denton. Mean Green all the way!
  13. This is not Namm...There are rules. And let's also not forget--let's not forget, Dude--that keeping wildlife, an amphibious rodent, for uh, domestic, you know, within the city--that isn't legal either.
  14. a bit bitter? I'm sorry your friend didn't get to play? FWIW, I saw Vizza try to hit Roberson on a deep post. twice.
  15. Really? I think compared to this board that thread was a 2 way highway to our DFW spaghetti bowl cluster f*ck.
  16. With a RS available. 2 years to play. 3 years to develop (presuming he uses the RS at some point).
  17. I would love to see how Vizza develops. I like what I saw, even though his stats can be spun many different ways. He still has 3 years to develop and A&M probably has more resources than we do in that area. Sometimes all it takes is a change of environment. I mean, c'mon, look at Sean Avery.
  18. No more than two, or we'd be beating a dead horse.
  19. heh. Most points scored in the 2nd quarter? Most points scored in a half? Most TDs thrown in a half?!!! Yeah, that game worked out great. Just get the Ws, that's all I'm asking.
  20. Hilltoppers had tradition long before Gonzaga became a S16 regular, right?
