Seems to me from the Wac talk a few years ago that there is something along the lines of if Boise leaves, the Wac is toast. Had to do with amount of teams and the B-Ball tourney (I think). Where is ArkSt Fan when you need him.

I would say we have outrecruited SMU most of DD's term, it wasnt untill the last few years that they got even and did a little better than us. I think TCU is now almost on par with the Aggs, and I think if you look at the amount of players the Frogs have put into the pros in recent years vs the amount of Aggs, you will be shocked. Judging by that blistering they put on NIU I would say we have a while before we catch the Froggies. Having said that I think we will see 2-3 3 star recruits every year.

not sure if this was mentioned earlier, found it burried at the bottom of a Startlegram article Dodge didn't discuss potential assistant hires, but Haltom head coach Clayton George, a UNT receiver from 1990-93 and former Carroll coordinator, is expected to join the staff as an offensive assistant. Dodge met with about 30 UNT players after being introduced. startlegram

it was a good segment. George talked about how really bad things had become between DD and the university. Kind of ripped him about the black uni stunt. talked about how DD seemed burned out this final year. Talked about how there were tons of people at the press conf and pointed out that the news of the Dodge hiring was making big headlines. George is really fired up about Dodge. Is this the first time there has ever been a buzz about our coaching hire? Could just be the age if information, but it seems like we have moved up a rung in the ladder in the world of coaching hires. I remember being pissed that Nelson was gone and dont remember any of the suitors names except there was rumor about Mean Joe, instead we got the great experimwnt. I had never heard of Simon either. Dickey I had at least heard of. To really understand how low we were when DD took over, read this Simon Says

Yes, as I have agreed with Plum before, I have no problem with a coach viewing us as a stepping stone, infact I think that should be a sellling point. You will be playing in arguably the worst D1 conf. You are the only D1 Public School in the Metroplex. You have some of the best HS football in the country in yourt back yard. You have a new Athletic Center and a new Stadium looming. You have over 200,000 alums within a 45 min drive. I mean really, if you have a motivated coach should we ever lose a local recruit to our back water belt brothers? Its not like you are trying to sell someone on the virtues of Monroe LA, this is a good job that you can win at. Get in here, get to 9 or 10 wins, win an OOC game here or there, go to bowl games, get to the top 25 and then move on to a BCS school. Then we get to have all this fun again in 5 years. And really there are only a handful of HC jobs that aren't stepping stones. GMG

It would be great if our new HC left us for a BCS HC job in 5 years. That would mean he likely a) had big OOC wins, had several bowl wins and c) got us into the top 25. Works for me.

I think he was just being honest, and I think he sees all the positives about NT. That given our location, size of school, what is happening with the athletic complex, and competition in the Belt, that this is a good job. There is no reason for us not to have 7 wins every year and be hunting for a bowl. If you are a coach looking for a stepping stone, we are a good one.

Just to further infuriate the Frogs, the #2 team in the MWC gets rewarded with the #5 team in the MAC (a no win situation for them)...meanwhile the #2 team from the Belt gets to play the #1 team from the MAC. The frogs have known for a while that they would be playing in San Diego, What is really funny is that the Frogs had thought that they would be playing UCLA, Wash St or AZ, but one of them needed to get to 7 wins...as it turns out the only one that could have done it was UCLA, but they would have to beat USC to do that. The SD Bowl committee got sweaty hands and had to make a choice, so they pulled the trigger on NIU (7 wins) last week. The could-a should-a's must be driving them nutts. Giggle.

According to the Ticket, Sneed is going finish his finals and transfer. He will not play for UT in the Bowl game.

NT kept the donation, the tongue in cheek joke is that we had to use half of the donation to pay off DD's contract.
