  1. Sneed Says rumors are false. startlegram Texas QB denies asking for release By JIMMY BURCH STAR-TELEGRAM STAFF WRITER Texas quarterback Jevan Snead denied a report Wednesday that he has asked for a release from his scholarship in order to transfer to another school. The report cited an anonymous source close to Snead. Asked Wednesday night if he’d requested a release, Snead said: “No, sir. There’s nothing happening right now.” Snead, a freshman from Stephenville, has been the backup to Longhorns’ starter Colt McCoy this season. McCoy, a redshirt freshman, was named the starter at the conclusion of fall drills and Snead has played sparingly this season. In eight games for the Longhorns, Snead has completed 26 of 49 passes for 371 yards. He’s thrown two touchdown passes and two interceptions. Most of his attempts (13-of-30) came in a 45-42 loss to Kansas State when Snead took over after McCoy was injured. A Parade All-American in high school, Snead was 23-2 as a starter at Stephenville. He racked up 7,955 yards of total offense and accounted for 100 touchdowns. Asked Wednesday if a transfer was something he might consider, Snead said: “I don’t know. I don’t feel comfortable talking about that right now.”

  3. Frogs are playing N Ill. Looks like ULL stays home. Here are NIU's wins Buffalo 2-10 Ind St 1-10 (1AA) Ball St 5-7 Miami 2-10 Temple 1-11 Cent Michigan 8-4 E Michigan 1-11 I dont quite think this is what the Frogs signed up for. Go 10-2, come in second in the MWC and get these guys. However the Tulsa v Utah FW Bowl sounds pretty good. And the Rice V Troy NO Bowl sounds good also.
  4. it is up to the bowls. We would have to hope for a lot of at large bids from bowls that didnt fill their guaranteed spot. So it is likely that we would get an invite to FW Bowl over Troy or Muts. While Birmingham Bowl would likely go with Troy over us.
  5. I dont think it will be UCLA. There is a rule that the bowls cant pass on a 7 win team for a 6 win team. So unless UCLA beats USC it will likely be N Ill or ULL. Troy really screwed up everything with their win over Muts. The Frogs have been penciled in for SD for some time, and it was looking like they would play Wash St, Ariz or UCLA. Imagine how much it would suck to be thinking you were going to play a big Pac 10 program, and then find out you were going up against the #4 from the MAC or the #5 from the Belt. For as good as the MWC is, their bowl tie-ins really suck. I am starting to think TCU would have been better off joining the Belt, where they could be the Boise of the South. GMG
  6. why are they playing way out in Lubbock? Seems like Abeline would have been a much better choice.
  7. I thought the same thing about UH and that tricked up Stephenville O. But it seems to be working for them.
  8. the horn frogs must be really excited about potentiallly playing ULL. TCU goes 10-2 and gets the Belts 5th place team. funny.
  9. I posted this as one of the things NT has going for it if they take advantage of it in the survey. When the Mens soccer program was really rolling, there was a huge try out day. This was the place that many overlooked DFW players enrolled because of the location and cost. The result was a perennial playoff team. I really think we should make the walk on program a big deal and perhaps even keep a scholarship available every year for a walk on. If you tell the overlooked kids in the metroplex that they have a shot at a ship and playing D1 college ball, I really think they will line up for the chance. And the best part is you dont have to pony up 20K to try, we should own the metroplex walkons. You can never have enough overachievers that believe in the system (see Aledo and SLC to some extent).
  10. Ahh yes, I stand corrected.
  11. got it, wrote enough to make the Russian Realists happy.
  12. Craig brought up the point of At what point do you draw the line for what doners get. If Mac ponied up several mil would he be entitled to name the new stadium "The D Dickey who was wrongfully fired by the University Stadium"
  13. me when im passing by, all my flavors are guananteed to satisfy
  14. You are wrong, in highschool I once caught sarcasm, but a quick shot of penicillin fixed me right up.
  15. Rick, What happened to Chambers? He was #1 on your list earlier.
  16. doesnt matter. RV says he isn't a contender. Thats enough for me.
  17. that USM guy looks like a debate coach. I was actually thiinking that I may have to root for SMU to win one of their next two games so that they will go to a bowl and not have a reason to clean house. Because if given the choice I would think Dodge would take SMU over us. Geez, wouldnt that be the ultimate in irony, that our victory over SMU could actually screw us out of the Dodge. I think I am going to be sick.
  18. it gets really bad when you are doing "Snake - Coda" back and forth with your 4 year old daughter. Gravy Arm
  19. When they were CUSA their biggest games were against Louisville, not games of local intrest against SMU, UTEP, etc. You create your own rivalries. SMU, UH, RICE, dont bring anyone to the game. But a top 20 matchup against UL or SoMiss and you get the local fans. Sprinkle in one big regional game (Tech, Ark, UT, OU) and you have a sellout. The Tech game was nuts, TT alumni bought the entire parking field at the Elementary that we had our TCU tailgate, the RV's starting arriving on Trs. On Sat they set up the gigantic flatscreen and had their own private party, no one went to the game because there were no tickets, so they just set up and tailgated for 3 days and watched the game from their lounge chairs on artificial grass insta lawns. Without a big visiting crowd I do think the Frogs are at maximum density as far as MWC crowds go. But 35 - 40 K isnt that bad. They hope to keep building the program and get a bigger invite when the conf shake up again in 2010. What really sucks for them is that unless they win the MWC, they are pretty much going bowling at home. Now if they start losing...and it is back to the 18K WAC days. GMG
  20. Schults is a good recruiter, but I agree his O is about the same as what we have been running. And I have always had a feeling that the horned frog faithful are waiting for two bad years in a row to send Patterson & Co packing. While everyone loved Fran when he was at TCU, no one seems to like Patterson. TCU attendance numbers have steadily risen over the last 8 years. It is a slow build, but I think you will find they are averaging close to 38K per game this year (I haven't looked it up, just a guess) They have Ark & UT coming to the Fort in the next few years as well as Baylor. GMG
  21. I agree, We have the best drum line in the country, we need some rippin beats that get the students up and movin. The Akron drum line seemed to play the entire game, and the student section was having a blast, jumping, spinning, throwing their hands in the air. I also think we need to borrow some English soccer songs and have the whole stadium singing. No one in America does that, it could be our borrowed/original tradition. GMG
  22. Thunderstruck is forever ruined by that dork at the mav's games. pick something else, how about Stone Cold's wrastlin intro.
