  1. Seconded, GMG is addictive. The atmosphere here is great too, I find myself here a lot of times rather than the big OSU boards because it's just so impersonal over there. Plus, I do harbor some personal sentiments for the Mean Green.
  2. Yes, but how often does a US Senator from Illinois affect your daily life? As a mayor and governor, she made decisions that directly affected the lives of her constituents. Local politics affect our lives the most. The federal government didn't place a stoplight in an area where it will cause accidents, the city did. She's dealt with the oil corporations and corruption in the state government, cutting gov't spending. Three words. "Global Poverty Tax". Google it. And I'm taxed enough already, thanks. I'll make a note on the "Germany in the 1930's" comment. It makes me think of that period when people are moved to TEARS by a POLITICIAN, much less a stadium full of people like that. It unnerves me, to be brutally honest. She's the VP candidate anyways. I don't think McCain will die in office but if the worst happens, I'd be alright with her running the show, more comfortable with that than Biden or Obama.
  3. The MAC isn't as impotent as most are led to believe, I think teams like Temple, Buffalo, Ball State, and especially Central Michigan may surprise some people this year. Doesn't necessarily mean BCS-crashing like Hawaii or Boise State, but I'm expecting some more powerful mid-major teams to go home disappointed.
  4. Just remember what ol' Schnelly said, the Whorns are just a bunch of softies! I'm sure UTEP will be fine.
  5. I like your thinking. Speaking of getting people involved, I don't think advertising the home games a bit more would hurt...even on campus. I was shocked at the number of students I met that were oblivious to the fact there was a home football game on Saturday. The only game that's heavily advertised to the general student population (not greeks/Talons/etc.) is Homecoming. Even those that DO know about the game just go to tailgate anyways (a winning team would bring them in but that's another topic). We have a lot of buildings on campus that have featureless brick faces, so why not put up a banner or something advertising the home games? It's not like it would take up much space, we only have 5 games at Fouts...
  6. THIS. Key here is 'civilly', but I think we'd get some kind of answers out of them if a decent amount of people showed up with a purpose. In this case, there was a free lunch involved, there may be other slight benefits to going as well.
  7. Isn't it obvious? No helmet stickers and no alumni working in the AD!
  8. Good idea, I think there'd be a chance for a lot of publicity for this. However.... I'm no engineer, but it would seem to me that Fouts would more likely be torn down piece by piece than imploded. I just don't think it's big enough to warrant that kind of demolition. Is there an engineer in the house?
  9. The Safeway Bowl (SMU) "Bag of Groceries" trophy is probably my favorite idea I've seen on this board so far for a rivalry.
  10. This is one of the main reasons I had this idea yesterday, I was driving back to campus and you can really see that roof from pretty far off. I'd rather see the university make use of it than some corporate name.
  11. Hmm, never thought about the roofing materials like that. Interesting. Yeah, I'm beginning to think the checkerboard completely encompassing one side is a bit much. I dunno about "NASCAR-ish", but it's not exactly easy on the eyes.
  12. Am I the only one that harbors a strong dislike for the dark brown exterior of the Super Pit's roof? I think the university could dress it up a bit with some paint...a lot of paint. Here's a current picture: My concept is below. I wanted to do one where you can see the roof's physical features, but I only took 20 minutes to do this in Photoshop, so it's pretty crude. I can play around and get a better quality picture and concept art. I say checkerboard pattern on two sides (east/west) with "Home of the Mean Green" facing the tennis courts/rec center/southbound traffic on NT Blvd., while "Welcome to NORTH TEXAS" on the south side of the building; i.e. the part that faces I-35. The south side would be facing the same direction as the Gateway Center, so anyone at the intersection of NT Blvd. and Eagle Dr. could see that particular text. Comments? Additional ideas? Flames? EDIT: Just had another idea as I posted this. Instead of the diving eagle and NT wording on the corners, maybe checkerboard in the corners with some sort of text/logo combination on all four sides?
  13. Continuing the thread hijack, IMHO, the NT Exes should change it. Just sounds like a blatant ripoff of the Texas Exes.
  14. #9 TOLEDO, are you KIDDING me?! Wooo, go Rockets!
  15. I'd love some kind of "Golden Triangle" rivalry thing going, that would be pretty cool.
  16. Behind Corso, haha, says "Dodge is Chase's Daddy - Go Mean Green!" with the SoW on it! Well done!
  17. 1. Dominate the Sun Belt 2. Ranked at the end of a season 3. New stadium
  18. I've got my own agenda. I want Ohio State in the national championship, so right now I'm a pretty big Pittsburgh fan. I still hate OU, but will tolerate them winning to see tOSU go to New Orleans.
  19. Wow, definitely didn't know that about Texas Stadium. Would be cool if the last game there would be an NT game, but with the NFL schedule as long as it is, that just won't be so, unfortunately.
  20. Championship rings? For winning 7 games against a schedule flush with I-AA teams?
