  1. EVERY writer. And yet, we chose to look through the Scarlet-colored glasses. "NOBODY will hang 35 points on this team." 20 starters returning tells me it's not the talent on the field. Attitudes and coaching have been a curse in big games the last three seasons. Media hype is a huge factor, too. Unfortunately, the game is what it is. I'll be in Columbus next week watching Troy get annihilated from sheer anger.
  2. You're kidding, right? The commentators (Herbie included) were verbally fellating Mark Sanchez and Steve Sarkhesian throughout the entire game and praising Pete Carroll's coaching genius. Watch ESPN's College Football Live, or hell, even Sportscenter and tell me how many times you hear "SEC Speed" in context with the Big Ten or Ohio State. This reminds me of that list someone posted, "10 reasons you know college football is back"...one of them was "ESPN HATES your team", lol.
  3. Did my freshman year at NT, transferred to OSU. OSU was my first choice and I almost stayed in Denton but getting out of Texas for a while took priority.
  4. Try watching ANY national media as an Ohio State fan, then come complain to me when Vito of the Denton Record-Chronicle writes a "negative" article about a 0-3 football team. It's absolutely painful and most of the crap I have to listen to is undeserved but it's there nonetheless. Last night's pounding at USC won't help that at all. I'm sure "negative" articles have been published all around the country about my Buckeyes today. But we lost. Big time. Newspapers will report on that and there's nothing you can do.
  5. When it first comes up as a popup window, you're presented with four or five small screens on the bottom you can select from with different games. Then there's the main screen on the middle left with a programming schedule next to it. You can adjust the size to make it fullscreen or change aspect ratios, etc. Some are in HD, but most aren't.
  6. Good thread. The popularity of that site seems to be taking off since it does offer decent videos...if your ISP has that service, that is.
  7. Fixed it for ya. I'd also throw Air Force and about half the MAC. An ideal OOC schedule would be like this: SFA @ Army SMU @ Minnesota (inside joke of the Big Ten)
  8. Well, it keeps around a great part of local history. And honestly? It's not my money.
  9. They play Eastern Washington and UMass in Lubbock. Haha, just think of how many seats in the visitor section were sold.
  10. I liked how after the touchdown in the 4th quarter, the cheerleaders running the flags had them spelled "Maen Green". Really captured the mood of the evening.
  11. I'm not advocating loading up on weak opponents, merely giving the fans a show at the home opener like a lot of other D-1a schools do. A strong, REGIONAL I-AA (FCS) team would be great. A lot of students have friends at Texas State, SFA, etc. and may show up.
  12. I know, the wording was bad, but the point is that you risk losing no matter what game you play. The chances can be for you or against you depending on your opponent.
  13. NT needs wins. Playing "lower class" teams, you always run a risk of losing. To those guys, any game against a I-A team is a big deal. Ohio U. went into Columbus yesterday and almost caught my beloved Buckeyes asleep at the wheel before THEIR big game. You ALWAYS risk losing, no matter who you play. Oregon absolutely manhandled the Pac-10 last year until Dennis Dixon got hurt in the 1st half against Arizona. They lost the game and slid down the polls in the following weeks. I think for UNT there's more than enough reason to justify scheduling a I-AA team for the home opener. The students go to Fouts expecting to lose and most disappear by halftime. Beating ANYONE would boost attendance in the 2nd half AND the 2nd home game of the season.
  14. With NT's record the past three seasons, I felt like throwing this out there. Is it time to bring in Texas State, SFA or another regional I-AA (FCS) team for a game at Fouts? I know there's a few of you out there who are going to thing this is far below NT, despite going 3-9, 2-10, and now about to go 0-3. Face it, folks. The Mean Green needs a victory over somebody and it's not going to come from playing a money game (as much as we would like it to happen) against a BCS team. Just to see what hte general consensus is, should RV call his counterpart at a I-AA school so NT can have a win in September for once?
  15. Add 3 to your totals, I'm dragging the GF and her friend from TTech to the game.
  16. Just goes to show, ANYONE can let their guard down and get caught looking ahead. This one had me sweating it out until midway through the 3rd Q when Tressel finally took control of his team. OU went in there with a plan, tOSU didn't. Buckeyes got caught with their pants down a little bit and you can bet they learned their lesson and apply it in LA next Saturday. Go Bucks and GMG! Aww, why you chuggin' the Hateorade?
  17. Sideline passes would be awesome, barring approval by the HC himself. The view there would be arguably better than a lot of the seats in Fouts.
  18. That's not a bad idea. Some incentives for students that want to get involved, and increased attendance across the board, not just in football or basketball. Good for Tx State.
  19. Yeah I know. Thanks to Tulsafanintexas I've been able to enjoy really poor-quality "yo mamma" jokes for the first time in YEARS.
  20. Agreed 100%. Dodge came into this program to pretty much raze and rebuild. The offense is a polar opposite to what was going on with Dickey and the players required for it are, too. Same with the changes on the other side of the ball. Throw that in with the challenge of not only learning to coach on a higher level than HS, but at one of the most disrespected D-IA schools in football, and then try to recruit the talent to build a winning program there. The man's got his work cut out for him, give Dodge time to address the issues at hand.
  21. I don't put a lot of stock in the stadium "fixing" a program overnight. Don't get me wrong, updated facilities never hinder a program, especially if we're replacing Fouts. With a new stadium up south of 35, I wouldn't be surprised at all if there were some posts on this forum wondering where all the wins are. A brand new glistening building does not mean NT's made it to the promised land, it only means the journey's on its way. The gameday experience MUST improve before a move is made across the highway, and that mostly means winning BEFORE dirt is turned. Gameday experience means filling up Fouts win or lose. Fill the current stadium and you can be sure that results of some kind will follow. The Navy game was awesome to see Fouts bristling with people...I'll be there against Tulsa.
  22. We'll have to see how K-State does later in the season. We knew OU was going to be bad last year, but the sheer magnitude of the point spread was indicative that OU was going to be a GREAT team last year on the national stage. Well, what do you know, OU went 10-2 before losing their bowl. Big XII Champs. Not saying that KSU will run the table and go to a January bowl game, but time will soften the blow like it always does. NT lost to a team that should do very well this season.
  23. Their defense lacks any kind of morale at this point in the game (similar to many 4th Qtr scenarios for NT last year), and SMU's quarterback isn't helping anything with his 3 picks (and counting). Gio's better and Rice does indeed look like a team that NT can definitely play with.
  24. Good point, but you seem to be forgetting rule #1 of the internet: reality need not apply.
  25. Haha, your post made me think of this:
