  1. In sumo culture, he'd be considered a promising up and comer.
  2. I would hope we'd get it. I'm honestly not sure how they decide in a situation where two unseeded schools play each other.
  3. Duquesne University in their first NCAA tourney in 47 years wins their first game in 55. Awesome stuff.
  4. That's what can happen in the NIT though. Seems like every year someone can't host, or has to host in an off gym because most places don't set aside building use JUST IN CASE for NIT games.
  5. LSU had a massive size advantage which they exploited the first time we played them. Not so much on Tuesday though.
  6. I mean the best possible scenario for local interest would have been if Butler had made the Final. Even beyond Indiana State, Bradley remains in the tourney too. I'd actually like one of ISU or BU to make the semis at the very least to get a big crowd going. Last year only Utah Valley State was anywhere what you could call close by to Las Vegas and it hurt attendance.
  7. So, do you want them to make the final or not? You seem to be arguing both.
  8. Highlights from our last trip to the NIT 2nd Round.
  9. I know once tomorrow starts, we'll he hard pressed to follow NIT games unless we're playing in them, but some good 2nd round matchups are in store. Bolded would be our opponent if we can get get through the Pirates. Boston College vs UNLV Wake Forest vs Georgia Virginia Tech vs Ohio State Indiana State vs Minnesota Bradley vs Cincinnati VCU vs South Florida Iowa vs Utah
  10. I don't recall the exact number, but when Perry was here his shooting percentage in the last two minutes of a close game was ridiculously high (like 70+ percent). Hank used to bring it up all the time.
  11. Yahoo has the game at 1pm EDT (10am here in the west). Not sure if that's gonna end up being correct, but I share nonetheless.
  12. Okay, so two sources, that seems official then.
  13. LOL, we went several games this season where I didn't start the game thread. All I ask is the date goes on it and if during the postseason someone hits the Biggest game in the History of Western Civilization bit.
  14. Took this information off of Asbury Park Press, the local rage where Seton Hall is located. If it proves incorrect, then I will delete the thread and start a new one with the correct date. https://www.app.com/story/sports/college/2024/03/20/seton-hall-basketball-wins-thrilling-nit-opener-over-saint-josephs/73014573007/
  15. Biggest game in the History of Western Civilization.
  16. Mustangs were up over ten for several minutes.
  17. No, you didn't have to kill it. Yesterday Hank said it as gonna be Saturday, but since the ESPN guys tonight kept saying Saturday OR Sunday, I'm not sure if he was right.
  18. Looks like Indiana State is gonna hold off SMU. Sycamores were in real trouble earlier - down by over ten.
  19. Seton Hall it is. Gonna wait until they officially announce whether it's a Saturday or Sunday tip before making the game thread.
  20. Was wondering that too. This is an entertaining game. Not a lot of fouls called either, so it's a quick moving one. At least so far.
  21. They're having to play this game at Seton Hall's old gym because they share their current arena with the NJ Devils and are now playing an unscheduled game. As much as we can complain about athletics not owning the Super Pit, this happens other places too.
  22. I feel like we're a less famous/successful version of UCLA. UCLA is (usually) in a great league (though the Pac-12 was obviously down this year) with 11 National Tittles to their name. For such a historically fantastic program though they have trouble filling Pauley Pavilion. Not as much as we do filling the Super Pit, but considering their league and history...yeah they struggle outside of the Arizona, USC, and maybe one marquee OOC game. I'm not sure what they report as their official capacity, but I watch them a lot on TV since I live here, and most home games they're at around 60% full. For cupcake OOC games it's obviously less and for the big games more, but...55-60% is fairly typical. They have a HUGE alumni base and a large number of students who live on or near campus (when you are in Westwood it weirdly has a bit of a commuter feel though), with as much tradition as anyone, and they still struggle to fill. Some of that is they have high standards. They have to compete with a million other options (which we always talk about at NT too) with tons of pro and college teams also in season (not to mention all the other stuff that any big city has). Looking at attendance, it usually places that are true college towns that have little to compete with as far as other options which are the ones that consistently draw. I mean if you go to Lawrence Kansas, the biggest game in town is Jayhawk basketball, there's nothing else close. As much as we like to talk about being located in DFW is great for us, it's also a bit of a curse.
