  1. Wow, they have really torn up mean green village while building our new stadium
  2. Do not discount Vizza. Vizza very well could be starting for the next 3 years.
  3. I don't expect major improvement from the defense. But, it won't take that much improvement to allow this team to compete for the Sun Belt next year. On paper, there will be many 1A teams with less talent than NT next season. It will be up to our coaches to get the most out of what they have. I am not one that thinks Mendoza absolutely must be fired. But, he needs to evaluate his own performance. Does coach Mendoza still have confidence in himself and his system ? If not, then he certainly needs to step down because there are plenty of coaches available that definately could get more out of the players we have.
  4. Nice post ! Next season you know the offense will be even better, with fewer mistakes. Since the defense is already the worst statistically in D1A, there is no where to go but up. It should not be difficult to achieve at least moderate improvement on the defensive side next season. Despite the way things have gone, the team has been competitive in most games with a chance to win a majority of them. Kudos to the players (those that are left) and coaches for continuing to work hard and give their best effort on the field. Personally, I am just as excited now about the future as I was prior to the start of the season. And you have to admit, we have seen some exciting football in all but 3 of the games.
  5. While there is definately something seriously wrong on defense, I am willing to wait for changes to be made in the offseason to correct the situation (be it players or coaches).
  6. Well, at least there is no where to go but up. We would probably have a .500 record by just moving into the top 100 defenses (out of a possible 118 I think). There is no way we see this kind of defensive performance next year. Changes will be made one way or another.
  7. Honestly, that might not be a bad idea. I just looked at the stats. Is it true that Navy has yet to even punt ???
  8. This is just stunning. What could be a great day for the offense is turning into a national disgrace on defense
  9. I am in Seattle this weekend and having to follow on the internet. What a sad day it will be to have 7 passing TD's in the first half and still lose the game by a wide margin. It sounds like only Navy can stop Navy. If this keeps up, you can expect a ton of negative national publicity regarding our defense.
  10. UNTLifer, What is the best way to send an Email that reaches TD ? I would think he would need all the positive support he and his staff can get right now, even though he may be flooded with email's already.
  11. Thank you George for being willing to air out your opinion to the public on a very sensitive issue. Because a lot of potential recruits are within The Ticket listening area, I thought this was an important segment. Jub Jub did a great job ! And thank you Craig for........a............well..........nevermind.
  12. I also heard the Miller comments. Several of us in section 'D' applauded him for his actions. The defense certainly needs a leader. On that night, Joseph Miller certainly acted as such.
  13. I used to think that he actually believes his posts. Now, I realize that he just likes to go against the majority and stir the pot.
  14. I applaud the students that came in to the game. They were much louder than the more numerous alums. I am ashamed of the thousands of students that were outside milling about in the parking lot. The alumni section looked just as full last saturday as any other home game this year. IMO, the student section seems to be dropping off as the season continues.
  15. Thanks Old Timer Despite the way things appear to be, I am sure that most people still agree with you. Unfortunately, this kind of thing takes place on every public sports forum these days. It is not just here with NT.
  16. I honestly thought our players hung with MT much better than I expected. We lost the game tonight only because of turnovers and mistakes against a much more seasoned team. Last weekend we were manhandled. Tonight was a game that could have been won. The 3rd period pick that was returned for a score (on the next play) completely changed the momentum which had been going in our favor. The future is bright until we start slipping in recruiting and attendance. I think you guys are underestimating the coaching staff's ability to recruit. It is going to take a few seasons of inept play before it seriously starts to affect recruiting IMHO. The coaching staff will get a pass from their peers for at least this year and probably the next as well. Good crowd again tonight to see a 1 win team. Sadly, I could not believe the thousands of students that still linger outside of the stadium. We got to the game late (middle of the first). At that time, there seemed to be as many students outside the stadium as there were inside
  17. Give me FAU and Schnelly as the most disliked right now. Plus, they have no real fans. In fact, I dislike almost all of the Florida D1A schools. It seems like they have no problem recruiting some of the most troubled kids in the country (see Miami/FIU game for an example).
  18. I was wondering the same thing after the game. That was a golden opportunity and might have made Troy thing twice about blitzing so much. I think Fitz was the receiver ? He had his man beat by about 10 yards if I remember. It would have been a definate score. Stickler has some real arm strength and threw a nice spiral. I guess he just had a little too much adrenaline that early in the game. Too bad.
  19. Omar is quite the all-around athlete. The dude has a very strange, unorthodox looking delivery though. Good luck the rest of the year. You guys are our best shot at representing the Belt in a bowl game.
  20. Oh God. Not the commuter school comment again
  21. I am very, very impressed with Giovanni. He shows an unreal amount of poise for any QB, especially one that is straight out of high school. The kid is going to be a terrific leader for this team someday very soon. With that being said, I was hoping that TD would pull him in the 3rd quarter last game. I guess there might have been a lesson to be learned somewhere. But, watching him stay in the pocket and take those hits was really tough to watch. I kept thinking about the Vizza family members watching the game.
  22. A very appropriate article for some of today's discussions here. Thanks.
