Link Here: http://www.ncaa.com/sites/default/files/files/2012nitconsolationbracket.pdf IUPUI followed by Virginia. Both games in Charlottesville, VA. IUPUI lost big to Michigan, then won big against Bowling Green. Virginia lost in a squeaker to George Mason, then beat Fairfield, then lost to Delaware. They'll have home court advantage. Both should be wins. Let's go Mean Green!

Honestly, I'm expecting a spotless run until 12/5 @ St. Louis. Win, or at least play competitively in that game, and I'll hop back on board.

Cameron probably licking their chops to get a shot at UNT. "Hey, we can be just like UA-H!"

I'm going to watch your game tonight
MeanGreenTexan replied to Winters's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Agree. Jones is a baller. If he gets on track and Benford's system is legit (TBD), then we can reset the panic button and calm back down. -
I don't recall a season prediction thread prior to the season, but I would have had us at: 23-6 (L's against Creighton, KSSt, St. Louis, and 3 stumbles somewhere in conference play with a perfect record at home, including Lehigh). ...with 3 more wins in the SBC tourney going into the NCAA's at 26-6. I'm not saying that record cannot happen anymore, but I'm not nearly as confident. With the way the team played the past 3 games, I'll say something like 16-11, hopefully with a charge late in the season and a nut-kick loss in the SBC final (again) for a final record of 18-12. Let's hope it's somewhere in the middle.

Is there too much focus put on athleticism?
MeanGreenTexan replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Hmm. I seem to only see 1 portion of your list that is really different. This team is back from last year basically in it's entirety, sans Hogans, Zo, and Hall (well, there's also another PG we're missing). Those guys were replaced/upgraded. We're still in the SBC and playing the same ol' non-conference schedule, with the exception of a chance to prove something in a pre-season tourney that we fumbled. Were our guys looking past AL-Huntsville to KS St? Who knows. All we know is that this game should not have been close with the talent gap on the floor. -

You're kidding me?!?! Reggie Miller spent all his time hot-dogging with Spike Lee and playing streetball. He didn't carry a lunchpail!! -
Is it too late to call back Fran Fraschilla?!?

I thought it was reported that we lost to OSU by 6. A team with both LeBryan Nash and Marcus Smart among other nice players. I think that's pretty good! -

Look. The benchmark for lights-out shooting, lunchpail-carrying, high-basketball-IQ guys is Mark Price. Where is our Mark Price? -
Bit?

Is Tony Benford really Shanice Stephens in a suit?
MeanGreenTexan replied to UNT90's topic in Mean Green Basketball
So something else to ponder... Shanice did not have a coach Evans on her bench. Evans is a proven coach. Is coach Evans on board with these decisions? Wonder what he has to say... -

Just to clarify: Harry, by too much focus put on guys with athleticism, do you mean not enough is being put on the guys with the lunchpail, high basketball-IQ guys? -

Everyone remembers Carmelo dominating at 'Cuse, but that team would not have done ANYTHING that year without Gerry McNamarra. -
Hope you enjoyed your last 'pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey' win, because you're not going to have any more.

This is kinda like saying Jeffrey Dahmer really likes your butcher skills. Maybe not something you want to include on the resume. ... just ask Tasty, who has a particular affection for Buzz. -
LAMAR is saying this about us. LAMAR!!!!

Trying to Find the Silver Lining
MeanGreenTexan replied to cl_1_2008's topic in Mean Green Basketball
It's very early in the season, so there is still hope for a turnaround, but with the panic button pressed by the fan base, I wonder if the players will buy into Benford's system? Or, will this be a <10 win season with lots of quit? -
Best of luck in the future Cooper!

Trying to Find the Silver Lining
MeanGreenTexan replied to cl_1_2008's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Admittedly, and gladly, I did not view, nor listen to this game. 1. because I expected it to be a blowout UNT win, 2. work... ugh (1st half). 3. when your 3-week old gives you sleep, you take it (2nd half). But looking at the stat lines... This is a problem: Name Min FG C. Jones 26 3-15 T. Mitchell 31 2-4 Why is our PG taking 15 shots and our NBA Lottery pick only taking 4? Nice game by Jordan and Roger. Where the HECK is Coleman?!?! If he's in some kind of 'doghouse' with Benford, it's time to bury that bone. Enough is enough. I'm thinking some of you who are saying that the team is buying into the hype too much are probably right. UNT ballers: You ain't playing in the rec anymore. Time to get to work. Benford: You're in the hot seat already. Time to get to work. Silver-lining: They get to redeem themselves tonight against Lamar. I fully expect them to go at Lamar like a punching bag. This score should reflect frustration from last night. UNT = 80+ pts. Lamar = 50-60pts. -
Fixed. Mmmmm.
-
Not to mention these guys (along with every other team we face this year), know who Tony Mitchell is, and would love to prove themselves against this 'Super-NBA-lottery-pick-guy'. We'll get everything they've got. I certainly hope we can shoot better and stay out of foul trouble. If so, this should be an easy win. If we're still not making shots and fouling alot, then it will be closer than we would like it to be.

Could this be the biggest UNT sports weekend in history ?
MeanGreenTexan replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, To answer the question: No. Y'all can stop posting in this thread now. -
We may stay on the Riverwalk once or twice, but most times we'll probably head over to Fredericksburg when going to UNT-UTSA in San Antonio.
