I hope this is not the case, because the tailgating scene is a great place for the greeks to show their organizations off, and show support for the university and the football team at the same time. If it just becomes a bunch of random students showing up without their tall painted letters and loud music, then it's going to be a very tame (re:boring) scene on "the hill".

This is going to clear up tremendously after the Spring Game. If Thompson improves his accuracy, he may be a better QB for us next year. If Berglund's running ability makes our defense look silly (as has been reported by the coaching staff), then that wrinkle alone may be enough to have him as the starter despite Thompson's improvements.

Surely they're not going to put a clause in to exclude tailgating from this ban? That would come across as hypocritical. And yes, I would assume that a football game is an on-campus, University sponsored event, so I'm thinking that the hill is going to be pretty sparse next year. Despite some of them giving the entire greek community a black eye, losing the greeks at tailgating is not a good thing, and although I doubt they stop showing up altogether, if they are not able to drink, then I highly doubt it will be as crowded out there.

Yep. Dunbar and Riley ran this very effectively in 2010. Especially during Chico's HC tenure.

I'll personally welcome a 'rivalry' with UTEP, LA Tech, and Rice, (as well as Tulsa if they stay) before I would be excited about a 'rivalry' with UTSA.

Yeah, but KState always signs JUCO guys. That's just the way Bill Snyder rolls. Not to mention, his school is sitting in the middle of the best JUCO conference out there, the Jayhawk conference. I'm inclined to agree with GreenP1. Seems Mac was a little overconfident and now feels the heat, and understands what he has to do to get immediate help.

Right. I'm just saying, Mike used to work in the student activities office while I was on campus, and I believe these guys were active in greek life and other student orgs. These are not just musicians who came here for the music school, then left without connecting to the University like Norah Jones and Don Henley. And I saw a quick little, "Hi, we're Eli Young, Go Mean Green!", video from them at either the S.Alabama or the AR St game. It wasn't anything big. I'm pretty sure they shot a music video on campus that weekend and just did a little "Go Mean Green" video on the side.

Don't know if our program dropped anymore because of this, but a program we had under our thumb for the past decade just crawled out from our shadow.

I guess I was right? According to Harry's recap of yesterday: "As of August 1 2013 Mac indicated that North Texas would – for the first time since he’s been here – have the full allotment of 85 scholarships" But yeah. Math is hard.

I gotta think they'd give the University a mega discount. They've just gotta hammer it out WAY in advance because those guys are booked.

So according to MeanGreenSports.com, we signed 23 players with this class, including Jucos and those who grayshirted/transferred and were already on campus. So we have 2 more scholarships to give in this class. I wonder why Mac is pocketing these? Why not at least giving one to Tebo, who he was interested in? Maybe he has a couple of guys on his radar as far as late qualifiers or transfers...?

Lots of coach-speak wit coach McCarney. He was asked if any of the high school guys could be expected to make an impact right away, and of course, he gave a roundabout non-answer, but he did single out Syd Moore. Apparently Syd cancelled a visit to Utah and committed to us. He doted alot on his Juco guys he brought in.

Talking about the All-century team voting now... Up next, coach McCarney.

Brock said he was able to build up good relationships with guys he played with on the practice squad. Specifically Darius Terrell and Lynrick Pleasant. Hopefully that translates to gametime chemistry between them.

I can barely hear Bartolotta/Berglund with my pc volume turned all the way up and my speaker volume turned all the way up. I'll be happy if/when they fix it, but I may be temporarily deafened first.

Hopefully coach Mac's presser will be better. Otherwise, they may as well cancel it.
