  1. SMU has always had money, but we were a complete trainwreck for 25 years. It's not program money or NIL(except most recent transfer class) that has elevated us. It's structural support from the university and good coach hires. But even a good coach looks incompetent without admin support. That's where you need to look to improve. That's why UTSA is going from nothing to blowing by you with NO money or facilities or history.
  2. What are you implying? It's totally explainable by massive upgrade in offensive coordinator and buying a ton of P5 transfers. It works. I highly recommend it
  3. Y'all aren't nearly the biggest problem. Look at some of the other future AAC team scores today. Ugh.
  4. No way we go to Big12 unless it gets majorly raided, which seems unlikely because payouts for B12 P12 and ACC should all be generally similar. We add nothing with TCU there. Similarly you add nothing to AAC with us there,.so clearly the conference thinks we are likely gone. PAC12 has to survive, because there are too many late timeslots for ESPN and Fox and not enough decent teams in the west. PAC12 will add 2-6 teams and SMU will be one, or less likely (due to buyout and similar pay) some B12 teams will go west and we backfill. Pipe dream that many SMU fans are pushing is that ACC gets skiddish over so few decent options remaining and grab a few now anticipating future losses and take us, or B12 making spot for us.
  5. I wonder if this is being driven up https://twitter.com/SMUFB/status/1565732504073433088?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1565732504073433088|twgr^|twcon^s1_&ref_url=
  6. UTSA is the new up and coming darling. They have some real realignment potential being in an untapped SA market, if they can commit some resources to their program.
  7. We clean up on players from solid P5s that are good enough to play there, but getting beat out as the starter by a monster, or lose their spot to injury, or the coaching/culture is changing or chaotic (see multiple UT transfers), almost always from the DFW area. We can sell them on a good team to play for, a good chance to start, still get some of the perk$ of major college football vs going to an FCS champ, a good degree, and their momma can come see them play in person. You could be selling a lot of these same things, but your coaching staff doesn't seem to have that strategy. For 2022 transfer commits, I see 17 total, 14 from P5s.
  8. PB as head coach at SMU with the practice field being adjacent to a church playground was quite interesting
  9. There's a ton of uncertainty around SMU with almost the whole O turning over and most of the D. This probably explains why the line is that close
  10. That's what the news says, take it up with them. The whole "100 year 500 year" etc nomenclature is really poor. It's actually a descriptor of the probability of such an event happening in a year, not that it can only happen once in that time frame. Sounds a lot less cataclysmic. Either way, it was a lot of rain. Much more than we got up here in Denton. https://www.dallasnews.com/news/weather/2022/08/22/mondays-record-setting-rainfall-a-one-in-a-thousand-years-event/
  11. I miss the simultaneous double or triple polo popped collar era. It was like a suit of armor against the proletariat.
  12. I'm not sure if this is "Your architects and engineers didn't design for a 1000 year rain event" smack or "your maintenance department should've maintained the pumps better" smack but either way it's one step too weird for me. Like Fry street.
  13. We have to do something to get you respectable enough to be seen in public (AAC) with. We might have to start donating to your NIL and developing land around your stadium
  14. Incorrect. The base pay model capitalizes on the NIL value of the ayers as a corporate unit together, this compensating NIL value that would otherwise go unused by the athlete. For example, am individual lineman has an NIL value of X, but the whole unit at an event on on a commercial is worth more than the sum of each individual. This is a wonderful tool for players to make full use of their rightful NIL.
  15. This is good for NIL. Help the market self-regulate. Although you'd think being on the team could be a contractual requirement without it being considered pay for performance. It's one thing to not tie money to # of TDs or even being a starter. It's another to say you can't voluntarily quit the team.
  16. What a senseless tragedy. A good man dead, a wayward man threw has own life away over nothing, a boy lost his father, a bunch of kids with emotional trauma, and a bunch more good men and women that will say "no thanks" to volunteering thus creating more wayward men
  17. Don't count on it, blue hair girls with vapes is a lot for SMU alumni to stomach. I struggle to go to the game and I'm desensitized from being local.
