  1. I agree. FAU and Memphis, particularly Memphis, will need to do well in conference play and they're both safe for an AQ. If someone else wins the tourney, and if they play decently well here on out, we'll be a 3-bid leauge. And I'm good with that scenario, so as long as it's not smu getting the tourney AQ.
  2. You are close. With today's rules, that pressure is still on the AD to continue onward, but due to these rules more pressure sit on the shoulders of alum. I'm sitting here watching this UNM vs Nevada game on right now. What has UNM done to garner the recruits, fan interest, and success? We can be them, and very easily. They pack their pit, they are consistently highly competitive... but if you ask me DFW/Texas > ABQ/NM. What's the disconnect? Get the type of guys they can get + our normal haul and we're seriously in business.
  3. SDSU, Nevada, USU, and New Mexico can't be ignored. They are legit. Their fringe programs are Boise and CO State. Well, we played one of those guys and we let 1 of them to come back from 6 down under 2 to go and beat us. Neither here or there, we aren't worthy of a AQ IMO..Can't lose to Fordham, Boise and you have to beat 2 of Dayton, MSState, St Johns and LSU to be considered, assuming we finish top 4 in the AAC. We were swept there. Our path is rightfully an AQ spot. Truthfully, we need to root for FAU, CLT and Memphis the rest of the way. We need those 3 to be good, and we need to win the winnables, and that starts with continuing to protect the Super Pit.
  4. Indeed. But what are his minimum expectations to stay... and I'm not trying to crown him as the continued savior of this program, but I like what I am seeing thus far. I think our admin has to start those conversations. Surround him with support early, with need AND want questions, etc. and commit to him as if he is committing to us.
  5. There are so many successful mid-major programs that have long time successful coaches in place for a decade+. Those are case examinations as to what they have done, what kind of support they have, and what is and how has their compensation increased over those years. If we want to be a consistent program for running years, we have to figure out how to keep those in place creating this success. Grant couldn't or didn't want to be our Mark Few. We have to figure out how to get Ross to be our Mark Few, or the like.
  6. You damn right. Sport junkies were watching UNT basketball prepping for championship Sunday. We gave them something fun to watch. And that's awesome. If we don't fund this operation the way it deserves to be funded, we will settle back into mediocrity, or worse. Take 1 to 1.5M away from football and give it to basketball. No one can convince me otherwise. Side Note: I am currently getting ducks in a row, as that's what it takes. Neverthless, I will be the largest public donor to the basketball NIL in the very near future. When I do donate, I look forward to someone unseating me.
  7. As someone who lives recently on the west coast and now catches a lot of MWC sports... they are actually legit. Legitimate basketball, with huge crowds pretty much across the board. It's a pretty good leauge. Caveat to this is that their basketball programs have garnered a lot support, individually. Every road game is a difficult journey. That holds weight.
  8. Huge game. A stay in contention game. Big crowd needed.
  9. Yeah, not much substance to this. Mac is winning. As he does. He's never lost. Ever. Ross is doing what he does. He needs his arsenal back and if he has to personally, himself, to light a fire in Sissoko then that's what needs to be done. We are Rubin being healthy + Sissoko playing NIT form to be really, really good.
  10. 5 = 2 in basketball. It's all the same.
  11. Good for the ladies. I'll be honest, I never pay attention to them and I think I should start. I pay attention to softball, but they've dictated me to. W Basketball is starting to get me interested. Great job, Coach Burton.
  12. A good marketing opportunity vs UAB on Wednesday. NIT Championship rematch... a former CUSA hated foe and CUSA Championship rematch. We need you to get back on track. Come will OUR team to a victory.
  13. I've seen worse. But it was definitely agenda driven. Like, they were anticipating a foul if they got anywhere close to the rim, whereas they would allow us to "play through contact."
  14. Oh, well. I'm over it. I've turned on CBS to watch Taylor Swift.
  15. No. But also, we don't attack the rim either. We do floaters and pull ups. However, I thought a few of Allen's post moves warranted a whistle. If his name was Johnell Davis he would have had at least a couple and 1's.
  16. That's because we were, particular Davis getting any whistle he wanted. Meanwhile, Allen can catch an elbow requiring stitches and officials are gagging on their whistle. The block call on Walker was BS, too. Our guy was set. Their guy, Vladimir 🇷🇺, committed to bulldozing whatever in his way and he gets the and 1 block call. BS. The out of bounds called on UNT late in the 1st half where the official just guessed and gave the ball back to FAU for an inbound play 3 for Davis...all the while the ball clearly being out on FAU. Official didn't ask for help, didn't do a anything. Side note: I'd like Ross to get a little more animated during BS games like this one.
  17. Poor clock management at the end. Played well enough to win on the road and easily could have. Refs were on some bullshit all game. We win that game at home and/or with Rubin.
  18. Edwards has to play off the ball more. Dude is careless.
  19. If we're being negative... Yes. But we're fans and every miss feels like 3 misses. A miss on the front end of a 1/1 feels like a gut punch. But we're generally pretty decent from the stripe. If I'm going to complain, I'm going to complain about our backcourt defense. There has been a lag this year. I'm also going to complain about rotational help being slightly slow. Those are much bigger areas of improvement than FT %. Now, we are less efficient on offense, but more explosive, and the drop in D can be contributed to that.
  20. Seems very high. Bulletin board material. Ready for our guys to turn it into a rock fight.
  21. The whole generation of fans thing is old. It stems from football. We are good. We are flirting with a decade of competitive basketball. We have 45k students enrolled. Thousands of alum in Denton alone. Get your ass to the gym, period. No reason this run of basketball isn't pulling 5k a night. It's inexcusable.
  22. Spelling is not a component of intellect. Spelling is a component of the perception of intellect. However, I'd rather know how to than not know how.
