  1. They are not technically in Dallas. But when they play football and the TV network pans away with a sky shot.... the skyline is right there in clear sight. The proximity is very close, and they have more right to claim it as their city than anyone else.
  2. I get it what you're saying. We'll be a 9 or 10 loss mid-major AQ. That will put us around 23-9 or 22-10, which puts us around the 11-13 line regardless of what happens with SMU. SMU could run the table and we could beat them in the AAC tourney final, we'll still be on that same line.
  3. I understand. But the dynamics in this scenario are a little different.
  4. That sounds like a challenge. After all, Rhubyn is my favorite player.
  5. I mean this with no offense, but this is such a bad, awfully short sighted take. Striking while the iron is hot is the name of the game. Not sitting back and relaxing, ever.
  6. Oh dang. I thought we were having a home stand..oops.
  7. All very true. This build up scenario is what derailed Seth Littrells head coaching career. Blocked fg vs LaTech.
  8. This is a quad 2 win that I wouldn't mind seeing turn into a quad 4 win. Realistically, we aren't getting an at-large. The committee has to make room for 14 loss SETHEE and Big10 teams. Nevertheless, the success of SMU has no measurable standard of continuing to develop and further grow the AAC basketball reputation as they are leaving. So, piss on them. If anything, commentators would comment on their struggles in the AAC last year in every TV broadcast they are on in the ACC next year. I'd much rather prefer that. On the contrary, commentators will comment next season how they were dominant in football last year while they lose 7 or so games, disparaging the AAC football reputation. They don't deserve a right of passage. They deserve to lose at everything at every turn.
  9. We had a 1k more fans in the pit 2 years ago vs LaTech. I think the CBI final vs San Fran had more fans. It's doable. The athletic department has to stay consistent in marketing, and the program has to continue to be steady.
  10. Indeed. It was great to watch on TV. Place felt enthusiastic through the TV. Also, a shout out to our fans in attendance for having proper basketball IQ, understanding the flow of the game, and realizing when it's time to get involved as the home team fans. On the surface, it doesn't seem like a big deal. But I've seen other places on TV where the crowd could push the game out of reach and.... crickets.
  11. No. I'm not trying to be disruptive. What exactly am I disrupting? I post my opinion and people (you in this instance) sometimes come and take issue with it. I defend the opinion and it turns people upset. For me, I rarely get upset on here or piss match anyone. However, I will always return a quoted comment with a reply. Always.
  12. It's pretty documented that things were falling apart while WB was out sniffing up skirts. He also knew the firing of SL was looming... he bolted. Good for him, I guess. Jared... he fired Mitchell and SL. That's great. As it seems, he made a great hire in women's basketball. And I don't want to come off as sexist, but that's not a job saver or a significant resume bullet point. He hired Eric Morris, and I am not sold. At all. Not sure how anyone could be at this point. I believe EM is a poor man's SL, and SL got canned. Not sure what older members can, could, or will come through and say... proof is in the pudding.
  13. Why? WB slept on the job for A YEAR and couldn't wait to go get paid. What has Jared done?
  14. These are baseless points. To flip your own argument, I've been to countless UNT football games that did not have a true attendance of tonight's basketball game (8k).
  15. Psh. Bennett has had some good years of recent. UVA basketball is not historicslly elite. Spurts of elite years mixed with bad years and a lot of mediocrity. You on here acting like you're an old crusty IU or UCLA guy. Buncha bulllllS
  16. I don't need to convince. No one person convinced me. Our history did. Our inadequate delivery of the product. Our poor coaching hires, internal refusal to fire, the athletic dept people, etc. The people that work for the UNT athletic department does not take UNT football seriously. Why should we? Basketball is sort of a bastard of sorts. Even in the high school rank and file of coaching. Basketball coaches disassociate with the athletic dept, football guys, they run their own S&C, etc. Simply, they match at the beat of their own drum. I think there is some truth to that at the collegiate ranks. It's its own entity that has been able to disassociate from UNT athletics, and they are now UNT basketball.
  17. Yeah, and it was cool. How many were in Frisco? Either time? Also, nationally, even through the state, doesn't move the needle. For our fandom, it was cool. I was there and I had a great time.
  18. It could be used for many things, but nothing is as imporyant as Recruiting. Recruiting. Recruiting. Every crack and crevice of the world.
  19. Probably concrete urban guy disguising as a basketball guy. Similarities in their verbiage.
  20. And you better believe with the collapse of conferences in football that little Cinderella ticket for the peasant is going to vanish as soon as they can get it to.
  21. No. You're not understanding. We need it. You're right. We need it to exist. I agree with that. I disagree with the funding it gets. Would we even know if the funding dropped from 11M to 9.8M? What difference are we truly looking at? My bet is that we wouldn't even know it if we weren't told. I can tell you that extra 1.2M into basketball would make a gigantic difference. See what I'm saying?
  22. Hod bowl? No. Beating a bad UNLV team, even in a bowl game, with defensive football did not garner attention. 20ish G5 programs won a bowl last month. I watched some of them. Don't remember any of them. The opponent, Final score, or name of the bowl. Bowls are now meaningless, barely attended, and boring.
  23. It can't. Success is UNT Footballs kryptonite. I've come to that conclusion over the years. The program is 112 years old and we have a losing record of suckage. We can't afford to consistently pay our top 30 football guys what the market dictates. Therefore, we will always be playing keep up. Simply put, it's too expensive to go where we want to go. Too many mouths to feed and not enough money to feed them. We're also battling UNTs football reputation as well as the campus culture. Also, the most meaningful game UNT football can ever even play in is the conference championship game, then the potato sack bowl brought to you by Advocare. Financially, it's ignorant to keep doing what we're doing. Not ignorant as the people know what they're doing. Bluntly put, it's stupid. And I don't know if they're stupid, if they like stupid decisions, or if they stupidly want to keep funding the way things have always been funded because they don't want to rustle feathers while they look for their "bigger" better paying job a la Wren Baker. Nevertheless, there's some stupid involved somewhere.
  24. I don't want to rush Rubin. I also don't want to play fau without Rubin. Man, I hope our crowd is rocking.
