  1. We need someone who can figure out how to make it happen. Someone who looks at the situation and provides the same tired ass excuses is not the answer. UNT deserves better.
  2. He may be a great candidate, but after reading his bio that guy does not move the needle for me at all. Nothing I read leads me to believe he can turn this thing around.
  3. Well, technically non qualifiers out of high school have to go to juco so there are no non qualifiers. These techniques could be used to work with late qualifiers, but not exclusively so.
  4. The blueshirts play right away but count against the next year's class. gray shirts do not play in the first fall semester but are put on scholarship in january. two different concepts.
  5. Good news that the only jucos listed are the ones that were here in the spring. No implied bad news because ther are not listed yet. #LetItFly
  6. I may be off base here, but I look at the blue shirts as kind of no risk. We had already filled our 2016 class, but still had holes to fill in the roster. We offered some high ability guys that, for one reason or another, were still available. The upside is that they have the potential to fill immediate needs. The downside is that they may not end up qualifying. In my mind, it is a no lose situation. If they get here, great. If they don't, then you are no worse off than you already were. Worth the gamble if you think they can contribute. A slightly different situation is the guys that signed in Feb. You are definitely counting on them getting to campus and it hurts your 2016 class if they don't because the thought is you have an unused spot in the class. However, with a group of blue shirt candidates waiting in the wings, you can simply slide one of them into the 2016 class and open up another spot in the 2017 class. Seems like a decent strategy to me, at least while you are trying to get this thing turned around. The vast majority of our juco guys so far have been defense plus a few offensive lineman. Mostly these are positions that rely on strength and are frequent redshirt candidates to allow their bodies to mature. Pulling these guys from juco, where they have been on the field, seems just as reasonable as bringing guys up from HS who may not have seen the field much in their first 2 years. Either way, we are about to find out.
  7. This tweet seems to imply Raveon is on campus
  8. They are not the only 2 preferred walkons, yet they are the only 2 walkons on the roster at this point. It just struck me as kind of peculiar. Probably nothing.
  9. Let's give it a few weeks and see who shows up before projecting too much doom and gloom. We already have 3 of the juco a from last class on campus and at the moment there is no evidence any of the other 4 won't make it. The 6 or 7 possible blue shirts are just gravy. If they make it, great. They will get added to the 2017 class. If not, then the staff still has 12 months to fill the spots. I don't disagree that it is unlikely that all of them make it.
  10. I see Michael Lawrence and Jason Pirtle on the roster. This strikes me as odd since they were supposedly walk ons, which usually don't get added until after practice starts or closer to the start of classes. Makes me wonder if they ended up receiving a scholarship due to a couple of juco no shows.
  11. Not sure if he is a scholarship guy, but Connor Davis is still on the roster.
  12. As far as I can tell Johnson, Hayes, Baulkman, and Turner were not likely to be blue shirts. They signed in Feb and I would expect them to be part of the 2016 signing class same as the high school guys that signed in Feb. If they are here, not sure why they would not be on the roster. Their have been 6 or 7 other names that committed over the spring/summer that seem likely candidates for blueshirts depending on whether or not we still have 2016 spots available (i.e. someone that signed LOI doesn't show up).
  13. Seems like several OL are missing from the Spring roster as well (unless I missed that they were already gone). I don't see Ryan Rentfro, Avery Fortenberry, Jordan Siegert, Kyle Mealey, Harrison Sorge, Dominick Walker. I really hope this is just due to human error. That is a lot of young guys to lose, but might explain why we kept recruiting juco OL in the Spring.
  14. Derris Prater appears to be missing from the roster. Anyone know his status?
  15. It appears he signed at Minot State out of HS as a wide receiver. If he was a freshman at LA Valley last season, he must have redshirted in 2014. Not sure BV's comment about 4 to play 3 for Cal, should he qualify, is accurate. http://msubeavers.com/news/2014/5/27/FB_0527144718.aspx
  16. I agree. I don't have any issues with him. Decent size. Spent a lot of time in the backfield in his highlight video. From a solid district and a school we have recruited from in the past and at a position of need.
  17. There was a lot of quit on the team last year. I really think there is more potential talent on this team than 2 wins (if the QB position is at least average) but I need to see who actually makes it onto campus in August before drinking too much green-aid.
