  1. As a quick reminder, Mendoza's defense gave up 45.1 points per game in 2007 only to be bested by Gary DeLoach's paper curtain defense that gave up 47.6 points per game in 2008. Caponi has far exceeded both of those defensive masterminds and jumped out to an impressive lead to be the worst ever by giving up an average of 52 points per game so far. LaTech should help pad these impressive stats next Saturday by busting through the 60 point barrier. Caponi is truly a rare find. So glad the HC and AD signed off on his hiring. A feather in both of their caps that they can be proud of for years to come.
  2. Our QB, who was benched at halftime, was our leading rusher. Let that sink in for a minute.
  3. Because that is the only thing this DC seems to know. It was obvious that after the Cal game tape got out it our defense would be non competitive. Now there are 2 game tapes available.
  4. UNT athletics kind of reminds you of former Texas gubernatorial candidate Clayton Williams' famous 'inevitable' quote. Seems oddly apropos.
  5. We should 'adjust' to a 5-5-5 and see if helps. Not sure it would.
  6. I will be shocked if this team stays within 3 touchdowns of LaTech. ACU will be a dogfight between equals.
  7. Yes, as a consultant. Have him come in and evaluate what the F is going on and provide his feedback. AD needs to know if this is a legit FBS coaching staff or if they are as outmatched as they appear.
  8. Is that what they are calling it nowadays? Technical difficulties? North Texas, and their newly hired FCS staff are most certainly having technical difficulties.
  9. Doubtful that wins will come anytime soon. At this point we may have to settle for short periods of looking competent and work our way up to multiple drives, quarters, then eventually an entire game. No evidence based on what we have seen so far that this staff is capable of turning this around. They look like an FCS staff that is totally lost at this level. Most teams, even bad ones, show improvement between game 1 and 2. Can't say that I saw any improvement which kind of points to fundamental issues with staff competency.
  10. Ray Mendoza would be an improvement at DC. How does a coaching staff show up to the season this unprepared? How does an AD allow a coaching staff show up to the season this unprepared?
  11. What's the deal here? Is this a new low? AD did not make the coach available? Did Morris shrink away and skip? What's the story? We got 70 seconds of response from the coach after the game. If the coach skipped the post game press conference it says a lot about lack of mental toughness. Is this the way they do things at the FCS level? Amateur hour.
  12. Starting to make sense how Earle was able to look decent during practice and scrimmages. He was going up against the worst defense in FBS every day. Once he has to go against a legit defense he looks like a typical FCS QB. Rogers should start the rest of the way. Maybe Ruder should be the backup and Earle learn a new position. Other than his legs, Earle does not appear to have the skills necessary to be an effective FBS QB.
  13. Better start preparing for how you are going to handle a loss because that game will be a battle of equals that could go either way.
  14. Yet somehow we start the season with a guy that is clearly not the most talented QB on the roster? And in the post game interview the coach said the ONLY reason that Rogers was put in was because Earle was cramping? WTF? Only one of the two QBs looked like an FBS QB and that was clearly Rogers. Did something happen in camp that put Rogers in the coach's dog house? If Morris starts Earle against La Tech we might as well shut it down because we will know Morris is not putting his best players on the field.
  15. Jared Mosley and Eric Morris have set back UNT football a decade. Look at the sheer happiness on this guy's face. Awesome to know that our special teams was completely outcoached on the last play of the game. Clearly, unlike FIU, we had not been coached how to handle that situation. I can't stand the hubris that permeates from Bonnie Brae in the face of complete ineptitude. And by the way, where is the UNT post game video? Are we seriously not going to post?
  16. Earle can be a leader on the practice team. It is not even fair to compare Rogers to Earle. Rogers looks like an FBS QB and Earle does not. Rogers has proven himself at the FBS level. Earle has not. Maybe Earle can play LB.
  17. Jared Mosley and Eric Morris have turned UNT football into the laughing stock of FBS.
  18. Can't wait to see how this AD's (lack of) judge of talent has impacted basketball.
  19. Don't worry, this AD will F that up as well.
  20. Clearly I was drinking green kool aid when I thought we could hold FIU to just 35 points. What an absolute embarrassment of an athletic department for a major university.
